The hotel has a great location, very convenient in the city center. The room was very clean. I arrived a bit late that day and had an extra person added to my booking last minute, but the female night shift receptionist was very kind and attentive. She upgraded my room for free. Seeing that we were staying for an extended period, she also provided a fridge in our room. Any requests we mentioned were promptly taken care of, making us feel at home. I’ll definitely stay here again next time.

Great location with a delicious famous noodle place 2-min walking distance, bonus! Very nice and helpful staff, reasonable cost, super clean with great view on the 38th floor, a Bose speaker on the bed table really made my mornings. Enjoyed my 2 nights' stay very much.

This was such a delightful experience. Whilst the pictures on the site looked nice it exceeded expectations.  The design of the lobby and rooms are rich with local elements, such as iron ore and dried plants native to the Gobi Desert. The staff are extremely helpful and really available 24/7. The room facilities are really high quality, lovely design and it was a really comfy stay. If you are traveling to the northwest and wish to experience the essence of Jiayuguan City, this hotel is a really an excellent choice—and the price is great!

Ideal way to get to experience Tibet in less than a day's travel from Beijing! The hotel is really just in front of the big Labrang monastery, which can easily compete with the big temples in Lhasa. However, one does not need any special permits for Labrang/Xiahe, which is much easier to get to using the high speed train from Beijing to Lanzhou, followed by a 3.5 hours car ride organized by Losang, the owner of the Overseas Tibetan Hotel. While most of the travelers in 2023 were obviously Chinese tourists, this is one of the places that will also appeal to Westerners as the owner and several of the staff speak very good English. Losang has been a travel agent for many years and can provide excellent recommendations for excursions around Xiahe and travel to other regions. The hotel has spacious rooms with private bathrooms, all with reliable services. The staff is really making an effort to accommodate any requests from their guests to allow to maximally enjoy your stay in Labrang. I would recommend to stay at least 3 nights, but one can easily stay a week. It's a pity that Western tourists have not yet found the way back to China and Tibet, traveling around individually is not a problem. A few tips for foreign travelers to China: - Make sure you book your hotels before applying for your Chinese Visa. Bring printouts to the visa application centre. - Install both WeChat and Alipay on your smartphone, and do the validation of your ID before departure. You can then link your credit card upon arrival in China and pay for virtually everything with either App. Cash is barely used anymore in China. - Make sure to book a SIM/eSIM card with unlimited mobile data, you will need internet connection everywhere in China to pay. Labrang also has perfect coverage, only in the surrounding grasslands can one loose connection at some locations. - Use trip.com for train bookings, other apps ask for a Chinese phone number.

Wonderful experience to be in a Mongolian tent right next to the beautiful Rainbow Mountains, great location and facilities, very quiet environment, delicious buffet breakfast with local food, and amazing and very caring host who was more than helpful and gave us great tips to make the most of our trip here.

So much to see. The day trips were packed and whistle-stop. I could have spent longer at most of the locations. Such a beautiful area. Because the day trips were so long, I needed to take a break between each one so I wasn't over-tired and I could properly enjoy the experience.

It's a nice stop on the way west to Xinjiang.

It's a nice stop on the way west to Xinjiang. I would of course rank Dunhuang higher but Jiayuguan is great for one day if you want to see the western end of the Great Wall. The wall itself is photogenic and be on the lookout for costumed characters inside who look like they're from the Ming dynasty.
