There was a nice warm pool. The breakfast was worth paying extra for, a lot of choices with both classical western hotel breakfast and Chinese foods to choose from. Very nice view of the city from the hotel rooms and nice view from the bar and restaurant in the dome highest up. The personnel were kind. Especially when we were drinking tea in the hotel lobby lounge a staff member called Selina was very nice and helpful!

The quality of service was next to none. All staff members were friendly, professional and helpful. They also kindly prepared a child's bed, toddler slippers, robe, and a toothbrush set for my child - very thoughtful. The staff at the pool were very nice, too. My child and I spent a long time in the spa adjacent to the pool because the water was warm and it was the right depth for a child. The staff offered to turn on the jets, but upon realising we were just chilling in the water, they brought some floaties for us to play with. The breakfast wasn't as bad as some of the reviews mentioned here. I found that there was plenty of food to choose from in the semi buffet styled central island, as I wasn't too interested in the hot food selections - mainly eggs etc. Child dined half price as it wasn't part of the accommodation package, but we were given colouring pencils to colour in the kids' menu - a nice touch. The Christmas ambiance is always great at the peninsula.

A truly refined stay in the heart of Jing’an, one of Shanghai’s most elegant and vibrant districts. The rooms are spacious, minimalist, and beautifully designed, with warm natural materials and floor-to-ceiling windows that create a calm sanctuary above the city. The atmosphere is serene, sophisticated, and discreetly luxurious — a welcome contrast to Shanghai’s intensity. A special thank you to Lewis from the concierge team. His professionalism, excellent recommendations, and genuine attentiveness made our stay completely seamless. Highly recommended for those who value design, tranquility, and impeccable service.

Spacious room, kitchen and bathroom : clean and nice. Better than the photos. Quiet at night. Washing machine with dryer, laundry detergent and iron available. The kitchen has no sink. Dont' t forget to take slippers for the shower. Nice and safe area, near People's Square. - 3 minutes from the Metro. - Good breakfast, options also for vegans : fruits, vegetables, rice - Late check-out available and I also leaved the luggage at the hotel for several hours.

It was a really comfortable stay and with stunning views. My daughter and I love everything about it. I have stayed at many hotels and I would say they have the most comfortable pillows. Special thanks to Daisy and the floor staff for being so helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and be back again.

The staff were all nice and friendly, the service is unbeatable. The location is prime in Shanghai. The facility is bit old given its an old hotel, but they overall did good job on maintenance. What's also amazing is that the sound proof in the room is amazing.

Shanghai is quite a disappointing city.

Shanghai is quite a disappointing city. It feels very Westernised, with McDonald’s and shopping malls everywhere, and we found the people there to be the least friendly we encountered in China. We also visited Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing, and people were always very friendly. In those cities, we felt like we experienced real Chinese life and culture. There isn’t that much to see in Shanghai, especially from a historical point of view. Apart from some of the neighbourhoods and streets behind the Bund, which are quite interesting, the rest didn’t really appeal to us. The French Concession was also of very little interest to us. Overall, Shanghai simply wasn’t a city we fell in love with. The Bund is nice when it’s lit up at night, and the architecture is attractive during the day too, but in our opinion, it’s not worth making a special trip for. The other cities we visited in China were much more interesting, with far more local life, character and history.

Another totally different part of Shanghai worth taking a look at. One attraction that amazed us was the beautiful homes on the way to the airport. Instead of a front lawn, they all had rice paddies. Also, a lot cheaper at their local shops than fifteen minutes away downtown Shanghai.

I stayed in Nanhui for 1 night as I was transferring – the stay was too short once you discover how much there is to offer in Shanghai – I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Shanghai PVG Airport Zhuqiao - the location of the hotel is good proximity to the airport and the free shuttle from the airport usually takes around 35 to 40 minutes to get to and from the hotel. If any wish to visit the center it takes around an hour by taxi but I recommend everyone to visit. Shanghai Old Street and The bund are must see places if you are there for 1 night – there is a wide variety of food and sweet options with lots of shops for souvenirs to take home – the people there are incredibly helpful as well in case you get lost (which is hard to do) but google translate is a must whilst you are there. In addition to this you will need AliPay, Wechat and Didi all 3 apps are vital for your stay in China and make sure you download them all beforehand.

Shanghai is a beautiful and fascinating city, but it is extremely crowded. Exploring the central areas in the evening can be quite difficult because of the huge crowds, and it is often hard to take good photos of the city’s beautiful sights without people getting in the way.
