Nice hotel, with a good central location. 5-10 mins from the beach, bank, port and there are 2 supermarkets closeby. Comfortable bed, nice rooms although shower is a bit small (i hardly fit through the door, and im not that big 😂) its been nicely cleaned daily, and towels changed daily. Very nice 2 nights in Maio, would go back!! Check-in/check out really easy and smooth.

Solange was a fantastic host and quickly made us feel at home. The house is quite basic but very charming. Beautiful sea views, which you can enjoy while relaxing on the hammock. The town centre is within 10 min walking distance.

I absolutely adored everything about Barracudamaio. Mona and Christophe have worked so hard to create a beautiful space for an exceptional travel experience. It's very close to a secluded beach where you can relax and have some alone time, as well as see the incredible turtles (with Christophe as your guide). I was taught upon arrival how to take a 'bulea' (free ride) with the locals, so very easy (and safe for solo female travellers) to catch a lift to the next town. The accommodation is exceptional in itself and is well thought out with sustainability in mind and furnished beautifully. They both shared their story over delicious dinners (thank you, Mona) about their journey in building Barracudamaio, and I think it's such a beautiful way to live and to help travellers understand the integrity behind creating a sustainable and welcoming space like theirs. Mona and Christophe are such wonderful people with a lot of life experience, and I am so glad to have had the chance to meet them on my travels. Oh and I love their two dogs, Lulu and Irmã. I am returning for my second stay next week - looking forward to seeing them all again! :)

Maury is truly the best host on the island, always friendly and helpful, keeping his B&B extremely clean and safe. He will always help you with anything you may be looking for - like taxi service or tours (both for a reasonable price), money exchange, information about the island, including daily live music tipps, restaurant reservations or tipps for visiting other islands. The rooms are very spacious, daily cleaning service and alltogether very friendly staff. Thank you Maury and I definitely will visit you again!

A large, clean and comfortable room close to the restaurants and 2 minutes from the beach. Breakfast is on the beach in the Tropikal Bar, and they have wifi. It was so nice to have a hot shower because the last three places I stayed on other islands didn't have hot water. So I really appreciated that. The owner and her adult chidren are from Portugal and were very helpful and nice. Highly recommended.
