This hotel is a hidden gem, we had a lovely welcome and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was okay, the room was lovely and comfortable and exceptionally clean. The Breakfast was amazing. We will definitely go back and highly recommend Landhotel Reckenberg.

It`s a truly fantastic property, located in the thermal spa complex and at the foot of Black Forest. Fantastic stay, albeit short, after a full day of shopping in Freiburg. Very relaxing, quiet, with big, comfy room and the terrace which opens onto Black Forest. During the day, you can run/hike across Black Forest or hit the Thermal Spa - and stay there until the evening ;-) The local restaurant serves locally sourced and very yummy food. I appreciate the staff being very understanding and accommodating to my food requests. I am looking forward to going back there in the spring/summertime.

The hotel is situated near one of the clock towers a short walk to the Munster. The building is architecturally beautiful. Very old but very well maintained. Super warm, cosy room with extremely comfortable beds. A nicely presented breakfast with plenty of choice. We may return to Freiburg and will stay here again if we do. Helpful and attentive staff.

Enjoyed the silence! No noise whatsoever, I could not hear any ventilation noise if I tried. Unusual for a modern hotel building. Also the room could be darkened well, and the pillows were not too thick which is otherwise common. All set for very good sleep.

What can I say!

What can I say! I was born here :) It's always great to be back. At the foot of the Black Forest, close the Rhein river and French border, one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, the Freiburger Münster, a picturesque marketplace right in front bustling with life and the splendour of regional fresh produce on Saturdays (and my favorite bratwurst on a nippy Sat, 'die Lange Rote' :) Martinstor, Schwabentor, Colombi Schloessle, Schlossberg, Lorettoberg, University of Freiburg, the new Konzerthaus, Stadttheater, the Dreisam River. I remember hopping along the little canals (Bächle) as a kid when visiting my grandparents. Some cool new salsa festivals that draws people from all over Europe and internationally twice a year. You can feel the literally feel and see the cultural closeness to Switzerland and France. And the people! Freiburg people are the friendliest people in G I know! I might be biased but in my mind Freiburg is probably one of the most beautiful places in Germany you can visit any season :)

Bad Krozingen is an area with thermal baths. It's worth visiting the area mainly for the high quality spa services, for relaxation, and for hiking - trekking in the surrounding areas of the Black Forest.

This is a very good base for exploring the region, especially with the free bus and rail pass. The buses are regular and punctual, and connect with the main railway line at the next village up, Denzlingen. The village itself is really beautiful and, although there are lots of hotels, has kept its character. I recommend visiting the local wine cooperative. The local red wine in particular is quite unlike the generic stuff we are usually offered in the UK and well worth trying and bringing some home.

We were turned away by the hotel as were not vaccinated.

We were turned away by the hotel as were not vaccinated. The receptionists said we should have looked up Google to find out if we could stay in that region of Germany.. I do believe that booking.com should have informed us. We had been driving for many hours from the Netherlands, I am 80 years old so was exhausted. Also the hotel should have told us before arrival. We carried on to Switzerland as the only option where we found a decent hotel. I am shocked to see that have since been charged the full amount by this hotel.

Ancient town (the castle is 12 century) with wonderful restaurants, bars, peacefulness, and lots to do in its vicinity. I never had a bad meal or a bad drink at all the places I visited. The cross-country mountain biking is endless. Freiburg is only 18kms away. The significance of this for me, is the international train station, which I used for trips to Switzerland, and the Basel Mulhouse airport is only a one hour bus ride away. This airport serves most of Europe through EasyJet. The people of Staufen are also very kind and hospitable, so much so, we now have friends there. Give it a go.

I liked the old town with the water channels and the character buildings. We walked up the hill and climbed the viewing tower and had an excellent view over the city and surrounding countryside. The Dokumentationszentrum Nationalsozialismus (Documentation Centre for National Socialism) in Freiburg was very impressive. We stayed there to be close to Frankfurt airport and able to fly directly to Scotland.

Located not far from Freiburg and having good public transport connections, it allows visitng the area which is reach in sights and attractions, including beautiful nature for hiking. The staff is excellent, very helpful and professional. The room was great,the bed comfortable. The windows can be opened and block out all noise. Our room was on the traintrack side and with closed windows no noise was detected. The breakfast was delicious with variations for any taste. The dinner options are minimal, mostly pizza or varieties thereof.

The town has lots going on, there is the Thermal Baths, a train station to go as far as Basel, Freiburg or Titisee. The town centre is pedestrianised so safe for children and there are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.
