We have visited this hotel three times and have always been very satisfied. The rooms and the hotel are very clean, and the rooms are well soundproofed. We travel with a child, and they provide everything needed for a child’s comfort in the room. The reception and all the staff are very attentive and helpful. The only feedback I can give is that it would be nice if the hotel could expand its dinner menu a bit more.

Location close both to the train station and to the center attractions. The reception staff was amazing. We got a lot of great recommendations. FAQs about hotels in Black Forest

A Forest Full of Surprises

A mysterious mountain range in south-western Germany, the Black Forest evokes images of wild, dark forests and quiet paths with hidden castles and ruins. In fact, this is a very vibrant region with popular wine routes, roaring waterfalls and charming little towns, always full of things to see and do.

However, the biggest kick comes from the Black Forest’s nature and landscape -of its densely forested mountain peaks, Feldberg is the highest at 1,493 metres and the birthplace of the Danube River. Follow its hiking footpaths to see the Titisee and Schluchsee lakes, the most famous German waterfalls of the Triberg and the popular River Wutach gorge.

The region is famous for its crafts, particularly the precision clock making and wood crafting, both coming together in the art of cuckoo clocks, symbolic of the entire Black Forest. There are not as famous as a certain delicacy though: the renowned Black Forest cake, a delicious combination of chocolate, sour cherries, Kirch brandy and cream. An absolute must-try!

From Freiburg to Baden-Baden, from Freudenstadt to Gengenbach, and from 5 star hotels to charming guest houses built in the local style, Booking.com has plenty accommodation on offer for your Black Forest trip.

We requested a dog-friendly room and were thrilled to find one that opened directly onto a patio and the pristine gardens. Our dog loved being able to step straight outside. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to explore the hotel’s spa areas. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a wide variety of dishes to enjoy. The staff were incredibly friendly, and there was plenty of parking. The gardens were vibrant and well-maintained, and we enjoyed a lovely morning stroll before the unfortunate moment of leaving.

What a fantastic place to stay on my return from Italy and Austria! The room was beautiful and the views were amazing. Communal areas are very modern and welcoming with a total focus on guests feeling fulfilled and happy. Well done! Baden-Baden is a beautiful destination and we are so glad we went but it's biggest attraction is probably the hiking and walking options available. It is a very expensive place to eat and drink and we spent as much in 5 days on food and drink as we had on accommodation and travelling. From a sightseeing and relaxing trip, 3 days would be more than adequate. The local bus service is exceptional. DO NOT waste your money going to the Faberge Museum. It was 40 euros to enter and for what was available it was ridiculously overpriced.

Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer.

Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer. The lake is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the town center is full of character, with lovely little shops, cozy restaurants, and plenty of ice cream stands. It’s a great place for a peaceful getaway and to enjoy the Black Forest atmosphere. However, one unpleasant experience during our visit was dinner at Musse am See – Bio Asia Dining. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children, and we ordered at 8:20 PM. The service was extremely slow and disorganized: The first dish (for one child) arrived at 8:50 PM. Two more dishes (for adults) came at 9:05 PM. The remaining four meals (for one adult and three children) didn’t arrive until 9:20 PM. A simple Sprite took over 15 minutes, and only arrived after my friend went to the counter to ask about it. The staff seemed unaware until she pointed it out. To make matters worse, the waiter spilled the Sprite onto one of the children’s meals, which completely ruined it—and the child didn’t eat after that. I love Asian food, but this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve had at an Asian restaurant. It was a real letdown in an otherwise lovely town.

We used this location to spend time in Basel. Main train station had a tram that went to Basel every 15 minutes. Make sure you travel with your passport if you are going to go to Switzerland or France as passports are being checked itermittendly at the borders. Our property was approx. a 20 min walk to the trainstation. Flat city, many shops and restaurants along the way. If you go at Christmas time, the Christmas market was at the front of the hotel.

Well before I just heard about Pforzheim being a jewellery and gold town. I did not know about its almost complete destruction in WW2 and how poorly it was rebuilt and how dreadful it still looks. I thought I have seen the worst German towns already... A fun fact, it was rebuilt to be very accessible for cars yet the modern politicians have decided to make it a 30 km/H zone. So you have big transit streets and have to drive slower than a bike. Although everything there looks also dreadfully poor (although they are not really poor unlike other places in other parts of Germany) we even saw some high society sipping some drinks near the Enz river. It is a weird place. It was worth coming here to appreciate more other places.

We didn't really have time to explore the town - just a quick spin around the impressive historic huge arcaded square. I would have liked to spend time in the museum and various interesting-looking buildings around. Plus it's well placed for visiting the surrounding countryside. Good shops, selling local produce and clothes, local gifts, shoes etc. Would definitely merit a few more days to look around.

Ettenheim is an easy town to get around.

Ettenheim is an easy town to get around. There are facilities all arounds, restaurants, shops, grocery stores. There is a lot of history in the old town to visit ; the church and cemetery are a good example. A short drive can take you to other villages and where you can eat in local gasthauses. The nature side of Ettenheim should not go unnoticed as many walking/biking paths take you all around to other villages. It is also very close to go to Europa park (10km) which not only boast a very large amusement park but magnificent hotels where to grab a drink or a bite.
