Nice hotel in a beautiful, tranquil location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean. There is free access to a spa with pool, sauna and steam room. It's a good base for exploring Bavaria and the Austrian border isn't too far for seeing places like Salzburg and Hallstatt as well. Good value for money.

It was a surprising experience. The accommodation was very clean and had a lovely ambiance. It is a historical building, but it has been beautifully renovated and decorated. The breakfast was delicious. And last but not least, the owner was a terrific guy—very nice and extremely helpful. All together, we left the accommodation very happy and would definitely recommend it!

Our two-day stay at Hotel Zu Sonne was fantastic. First of all, Marissa is an outstanding host who organized everything according to the agreement. The rooms were clean, and the payment and invoice process went smoothly. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh items, and Marissa was always there to prepare coffee, juice, or tea – you can really tell she works with love. The apartments are much larger than standard hotel rooms; they are actually small apartments, making the stay even more comfortable. The parking is conveniently located right in front of the property, and the hotel is situated in the small town of Rimsting, where everything is close by and easily accessible. All in all, a great experience, highly recommended!

Lovely place at the very edge of the lake. Two restaurants, both good, tasty food for breakfast as well. Saunas / spa area a bit overcrowded, especially during winter weekends. Friendly service. Not much to do locally (except boats, if in summer), but with a car lots of locations are reachable.

We booked two double rooms, one bigger and one smaller. Both rooms were cozy and had view over the lake. The breakfast exeeded our expectations . It was the richest, diverse and delicios breakfast that we ever found in our trip compared to the same price paid in other locations. The staff was friendly and very helpfull.

Perfect location for a break from a long drive. Room was even better than in the most hotels in the cities. Room was clean, warm and with everything that you need. Private parking just outside of the room. Near the hotel is a very cute restaurant La Mia Famiglia.

An excellent location for visiting the town of Prien am Chiemsee. A short walk from the train station and there are many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The walk to the Chiemsee ferry also wasn't too bad (maybe about 2 km). We also enjoyed a nice hike in the area (there are maps available at the nearby tourist info office). The fridge in the room was also an added bonus.

Excellent amenities for tourists including boat trips, bicycle hire, cycle paths, restaurants, cafes, swimming areas. Train to Munich, Aschau and Salzburg. Cable car near to Aschau. Prien Tourist Information Centre was excellent. No litter. Many folk could speak english. Taxis available at Prien Railway Station during daytime but generally not seen during the evenings.

If you need a rest in a spiritual and historical uniw´ques place, do not miss this one on the lake. Historical cloister, very nicely restored, comfortable and clean with preserved "genius loci". Friendly welcome and business services. Great breakfast with local food (bread, honey and pretzels). You can taste localy brewed beer as well. Free coupons for local tourist services: discounts and free access. Excelllent WiFi connection.

A nice full day trip enjoying a ride on the boats and...

A nice full day trip enjoying a ride on the boats and visiting both islands. Wonderful information at Herrenchiemsee about the initial writing of the German constitution after WWII. While waiting or after the trip settle along the shore and soak your feet . Then walk over to the several restaurants and eat while viewing the goings on at the docks and the lake.

Chieming is a small town just close by Chiemsee.

Chieming is a small town just close by Chiemsee. There are small restaurants or places where you can eat however when we came there in October, many restaurants/activities were already in winter break. Unfortunately for us, we could not enjoy any of them but the lake is a great place to enjoy sun bath, pedalos, paddle, boat trips in summer time.

Excellent location for us as we took our bikes with us so it was an easy cycle down to Prien and also the surrounding area. Seebruck is an interesting place due to it being an old Roman settlement and there's lots of info boards around the place.

You need a car at lake Chiemsee if you want to travel around...

You need a car at lake Chiemsee if you want to travel around - unless you're prepared to go by train. Ubers aren't available in the area and taxis are very expensive. I preferred dining at the hotel rather than at the other restaurants nearby. The hotel is quieter although you still need to make a reservation. The hotel is close to the ferries that go to the islands - well worth the trip!

Bernau am Chiemsee is a lovely place to stay, especially if you want to explore the Chiemsee and the surrounding area. The town has a peaceful, charming atmosphere, while still being well connected and easy to get around. We really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the convenience of being able to reach different parts of the lake easily. It is a great base for relaxing, enjoying nature, and exploring the region, and we would definitely consider coming back.

Seebruck village is lovely and quiet and great for cycling...

Seebruck village is lovely and quiet and great for cycling and walking. Lots of little cafes and super lake side areas to relax in. Good weather is a necessity as hotels do not have much else to do. I was fortunate to have stayed in two different hotels. The first for 3 nights was excellent and the one I am giving feed back on, sadly I had a very bad experience.

Great location and very pleasant staff. The breakfast was fantastic and of high quality. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard, and we were served by a gentleman who understood how to look after guests' needs. We gave them carte blanche on wine pairing from the local area. A real must. In Bavaria, it's a class of its own. The receptionist I would consider to be the best in client service, the waiting staff listened and were friendly but very professional & the cleaning staff made sure everything was ok in the room!

A must-visit place, recommended for all seasons as each carry a different beauty and personality of Chiemsee and its surrounding locations. Take the boat and enjoy the ride to each Island. Walk around Fraueninsel, have a meal at Herreninsel after visiting the Castle. Walk to the water in the summer. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to! Enjoy the beauty of Bavaria!
