Children's playground and miniputt very close. Plenty of info available about local activities. Definitely a great place for a family, or anyone wanting a quiet break. Exceptionally high quality room fittings. Remote for lighting; heated bathroom mirror; comfy beds and chairs, recently renovated rooms...great quality finishings. Even writing pad and envelopes in info folder. 8am breakfast. Sumptuous fare. Caters for everyone. Counted 20 varieties of teas...not your usual choice; lovely friendly and helpful staff from Reception, breakfast to Dinner waiting staff. Reasonably priced meals with good variety. Coffee available next door at Café. Kettle and cups in bedroom. Totally recommend this exceptional hotel with great winter prices and an abundance of local sites to keep busy with. Or just rest and enjoy the peace, mountain, lake views or take in Ludwig's history and that of the St Augustine ex Monestry and Post WW 2 Constitutional Convention on the insel. So pleased we chose this hotel. A+ for quality including staff.

The location is perfect if you want to visit Herenchiemsee Palace - which was the reason I stayed here - so that I could visit the palace the next day. It's just yards away from the pier where you take the boat to the island. While here I ate dinner at the restaurant & was very pleased with the food & service. The room was nice, breakfast was good, and there was parking on site, which made this the prefect choice.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely family hotel. We are staying here not for the first time, and every visit is always warm and comfortable. Beautiful location, very clean rooms, great breakfast, and extremely friendly staff. The cute deer nearby made the atmosphere even more special and unforgettable. A perfect place to relax in nature — we will definitely come back again!

Great location and very pleasant staff.

Great location and very pleasant staff. The breakfast was fantastic and of high quality. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard, and we were served by a gentleman who understood how to look after guests' needs. We gave them carte blanche on wine pairing from the local area. A real must. In Bavaria, it's a class of its own. The receptionist I would consider to be the best in client service, the waiting staff listened and were friendly but very professional & the cleaning staff made sure everything was ok in the room!

A must-visit place, recommended for all seasons as each carry a different beauty and personality of Chiemsee and its surrounding locations. Take the boat and enjoy the ride to each Island. Walk around Fraueninsel, have a meal at Herreninsel after visiting the Castle. Walk to the water in the summer. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to! Enjoy the beauty of Bavaria!

The apartment was perfect for us and after a query as to having a microwave oven this was added for our visit. What could be better was the explanation and guidance of rubbish and recycling rules as not being German found this a little daunting when trying to do the right thing. And did not really understand the guest card, where and when it can be used and for what local advantages it was for. Übersee itself is changed in the 40 years since I was last here from a village to a small town. It is still a very rural area and loved visiting again after all these years.

Chieming is a small town just close by Chiemsee.

Chieming is a small town just close by Chiemsee. There are small restaurants or places where you can eat however when we came there in October, many restaurants/activities were already in winter break. Unfortunately for us, we could not enjoy any of them but the lake is a great place to enjoy sun bath, pedalos, paddle, boat trips in summer time.

If you need a rest in a spiritual and historical uniw´ques place, do not miss this one on the lake. Historical cloister, very nicely restored, comfortable and clean with preserved "genius loci". Friendly welcome and business services. Great breakfast with local food (bread, honey and pretzels). You can taste localy brewed beer as well. Free coupons for local tourist services: discounts and free access. Excelllent WiFi connection.

I went for three days but at the end I stayed only two. The rooms do not have AC unit and temp inside was about 26°C (79°F). The rooms are old and outdated, smelly and dusty. I had to leave after the second day and they still charged me with the third day. Bad hotel... Bad hotel. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

We were there to travel to the island of Herrenchiemsee but could have taken in the other islands too if we had longer. The lake was so beautiful on the days we were there and this is the mainstay of the town The boats were well organised for what we needed and it was easy to navigate buying tickets and parking I believe the hotels and guest places are all very good - we stayed at Zum Fischer am See which was fabulous Not sure if one could do lots of weeks there - but the setting was relaxing and stunning - nature provided all the buzz we could ask for

A good base to explore the region. Beautiful views. Plenty of things to do and see. The Ludwig II Palace, great beer, lovely quiet lakeside places to chill. Cycling around the area popular and lots of trails which are largely flat. Also a direct hourly train service to Munich and Salzburg if you fancied an excursion. You can find plenty to do for a week.

Nice place to unwind, must not skip the Herreninsel and Fraueninsel! Make sure you have a day to spend to visit Schloss Herrenchiemsee!!! Eat lunch at Klosterwirt or zur Linde in Fraueninsel and bring enough cash to buy some souvenirs at the Klosterladen. Ps: wait until sunset by the beach and wake up early to smell the fresh breeze near the lake.
