I was happy to get the best weather and stay in such beautiful place. The island itself is magical, and the room with sea view, not hot in a sunny day, with sea breeze through open windows.. and a radio in the bathroom :D everything is clean, the fridge and equipped kitchenette will be very useful for a longer stay. I had breakfast outside at the fresh morning sun, what else one can dream of as a perfect vacation?

If you would just like to see the island, one or two nights...
If you would just like to see the island, one or two nights are sufficient to get around and discover all the official attractions as well as the little hidden gems by going off the main streets.
Helgoländer Düne was lovely, saw the seals, great beaches, white sand, found some fossils and pretty shells, but is very basic for a vacation - perfect though for some alone time.
Best thing for my daughter was that in a wonderful little shop/museum on Otto-Bartning-Straße, just by the park with the kindergarten, we got our shell and flintstone finds turned into personalized necklaces -best souvenir!
Getting to Helgoland can be a bit of a challenge as it’s very weather-dependent.

Really well worth visiting this lovely island.
Really well worth visiting this lovely island. No cars or bike, an absolute bonus. Lovely cliff walks & seeing the gannets at such close quarters was as absolute bonus & truly memorable. The short trip to Düne was well worth it for the walking & seal colonies.

Great place to see some unusual wildlife.
Great place to see some unusual wildlife. Going to Dune is easy with regular ferry and yet pretty cheap. We stayed in camping part of Dune for one night, beaches are teaming with life. Facilities there are uniquely clean. Second part of our trip was spent in the main Island, it is still quite a small place and easy to see in 1-2 days. Again the cliffs are full of life.
