Although the room was a little smaller than I had imagined, the rest of the pension was excellent. The shower was spacious and equipped with soap dispensers, the bed was comfortable and large, and there was clean water in the room upon check-in to quench a thirst. I also should mention local restaurant - the chef is a master of his craft. We had lunch and dinner with great pleasure, same as breakfast next day. Local beer is also worth noting for its excellent quality. In addition, as a bicycle tourist, I would like to mention the willingness of the staff to help us with the storage of our luggage while we visited the local Wörlitzer Park on the other day.

Room was immaculate and very clean and comfortable. Having access to wellness area. They had bike box storage for our bicycles which was great. Our room was outside the walls but this wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was great.

I went primarily to visit the Bauhaus, the museum and it's related sites. I'm a retired architect and hence arrived with prior knowledge and interest in the famous school. That said, I have doubts whether these offer much to a general audience. Yet, the smaller size of Dessau makes it easy to understand and to navigate on foot or bicycle. A very nice surprise was the lively centrum, the beautiful parks and historic sites unrelated to modern architecture. I borrowed a bike for a day, rode to the banks of the Elbe and the Mulde rivers, and on to the Schloss Luisium. (I had beautiful weather so that undoubtedly added to my enjoyment.) If any of these activities interests you, then it's worth getting off the beaten tourist path and giving Dessau a try. A note to US travelers, not much English spoken here, but folks were friendly. So have a translator handy on your phone and be friendly in return.

Lutherstadt is a wonderful place and I recommend it to all...

Lutherstadt is a wonderful place and I recommend it to all travellers. The town is peaceful and rich with history. It is also very easy to walk around because there is virtually no cars and the town is flat so walking around is easy. I ate great food and drank great beer as you would expect and attended a service in English at the church where Martin Luther preached. This was a wonderful trip. I recommend 3 days is just about right.

I requested a quiet room but was given one right next to the...

I requested a quiet room but was given one right next to the elevator — it was very noisy. There was no water, no coffee maker, and no kettle in the room. No extra pillows were provided either, and the one that was there was too small. I also had to pay for parking this time, even though I didn’t have to on my previous stay. The booking mentioned that parking might be charged, so it seems to depend on the hotel’s mood or how long you’re staying. The room itself felt outdated. Maybe I should have paid €5 more for the better room, but it’s strange that such a small price difference leads to such a big difference in quality.

Tangermuende has lots to offer.

Tangermuende has lots to offer. The historic downtown is super cute and quaint. There are many restaurants, cafes, ice cream places, and stores to shop. The harbor invites for a stroll. You can go on a boat ride on the river Elbe or eat Greek food on a boat. If you have a car, which we recommend, there are lots of places to drive to and visit. The area offers many concerts and/or other cultural events. We listened to an organ concert in the church. And we went to the thermal bath in Bad Wilsnack.

Well, it rained cats and dogs, so we headed under umbrellas over the old square to an Vietnamese restaurant.Tasted marvelous. As it was a Monday most activities was closed. Late evening, after the rain, we walked around and could easily notice that we could stay a few days. Interesting buildings and nice parks.

The hotel doesn’t provide kettle for warm water, tea coffee, bathroom slippers etc, just a room but absolutely clean and cosy. We were at there when temperature was -10Deg c. Thus was desperately needed tea or cofffe but unfortunately there was none provided.

Beautiful and a nice place to hang around.

Beautiful and a nice place to hang around. I cycled along the river Elbe, and took lots of photos of the city. The weather was good, with sun shine and blue sky, so the view was perfect. I suggest people can walk/cycle along the river, from Cathedral to Jahrtausendturm, just be enjoy the cozy. The Cathedral has a total different view b/w days and nights, so go there twice!

I enjoyed Dessau immensely, and found the people to be very...

I enjoyed Dessau immensely, and found the people to be very thoughtful and generous with their time. During my stay it was snowing and a little cold, adding to the sense of time and place, and adding to the drama of visiting somewhere new. I hired a car to travel in a timely fashion and to stay warm. Driving was enjoyable and challenging as I adjusted to the right side of the road; with train tracks and tram to negotiate too. My German is limited, but for the most part I had enjoyable, pleasant conversations with the staff at places I visited. I particularly liked the location of the Bauhaus buildings of interest and the Design Museum; the foundation studies in art and design I studied in the early nineties was reinforced. The historical 'Bauhaus' building provides the architectural context of Bauhaus and it reinforced the excellent understanding of materials and their functionality. Dessau is approx. 40km from Leipzig airport and is easy to drive too. There is also a train. If you enjoy museums and like your own company for these visits as I do - hours spent reading and absorbing the space, the design of form and the principles:- these alone can take up your time. I enjoyed a coffee and a pastry whilst scribbling down ideas. Truly a remarkable place to visit. More time to delve deeper is needed. I hope I can visit again soon as the hotel was only a short distance from the places I would return too in Dessau.

We are Lutherans from USA.

We are Lutherans from USA. It was amazing to be in Wittenberg and see the churches and panorama, Unfortunately the Augustinian Monastery was closed for renovation. The Christmas market was a pleasant surprise. We should have known, but we know a LITTLE German, but being in former East Germany, there are FEW English speakers over 40.
