Very nice location in the middle of Thuringen forests. A lot of cycling and hiking trails nearby. Hotel itself is very nice, a lot of space outside. Very quiet location. Hotel restaurant is very good, a bit expencive, but meals are good.

Super friendly and helpful staff - great attitude of both owners of the hotel. The food (I had pizza) was amazing and the prizes as well as serving sizes were great. My room (directed to the back of the hotel) was comfy, clean and quiet with lots of space to do yoga or park a bicycle if needed. Rooms have a fridge and kettle, which was very helpful for people who stay longer and don't want to eat out every day and still make their coffee every morning. Especially the towel art (towels formed as swans) was amazing. Although I'm not a big Schlager fan I joined the saturday Schlager Party, where drinks were very well priced and people were friendly and talkative - be aware that it could be a bit louder on party saturdays but for me it was totally acceptable. If you worry about the sound maybe don't get a room in the front where it might me a bit louder. If I'm ever back in the region I'll stay there again since I really enjoyed the Schlagerschloss.

The room was nice and all in all the atmosphere in the hotel was pleasant yet quirky. It had the feeling of staying at the Overlook Hotel from Stephen King's book The Shining. The staff was a bit overwhelmed by work and not necessarily up to their tasks and the hotel manager had to micromanage the tiniest things like fixing the Cappuccino machine. We only stayed a night so I can't comment much on the facilities. The breakfast was rather adequate and the staff members all were really nice.

For the price, the room has an adequate size. It was clean and had everything I needed. The bathroom has enough space (more than I expected. actually). The location is really good. Not the most beautiful part of the city, but 100m from the Bach Haus Museum, less than 10 minutes walk to the center and 30 min walk from the castle. The staff was 100% friendly and helped whenever I needed. Breakfast was a standard good hotel breakfast. I would come back anytime.

The room was pleasant, spacious and comfortable with two comfy chairs plus a stool and a desk. We appreciated many sockets, a kettle, tea, instant coffee, and soda water. Our room (104) had a nice view of trees and a little river. Good breakfast, good parking, good location.

Very central, yet really peaceful and quiet. The apartment style room was awesome and felt like home for the week stay. And the balcony with lovely view across the valley is by far the best hotel option in Oberhof - highly recommend.

Great little town to stop over when travelling across Europe...

Great little town to stop over when travelling across Europe. The castle is beautiful. Loads of walking opportunities. Nature is close by. Lovely pub, lovely coffee place, great kebab :) All you want from a quick pit stop.

If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then...

If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then Oberhof is the place for you. Also it's ideal for hiking and cycling especially along the Rennsteig. Ideally is best to have a car. The location of the Obere Schweizerhütte was right next to the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton runs. The cable car to the top was amazing and once at the top you're at the biathlon stadium. You xan also have a shooting experience.

Wartburg Castle is a gem definitely worth a stop for the...

Wartburg Castle is a gem definitely worth a stop for the history and beauty represented there. The steep hike up to the top is through pretty woods with lovely views, and the cafe at the top has a good selection of food, beers and coffee! We took the guided tour which I would recommend.
