"Bilbao is one of the best cities I've ever been. It is extremely clean, there are not many people on the streets harassing tourist, is feels and seems really safe. You can get anywhere walking or with public transport. The locals are extremely nice and helpful. There is a lot of shopping opportunities and the best prices available, I would recommend as a girl to not even bring that many clothes as most likely you'll want to buy everything there. The food is simply extraordinary. I went for just 3 days thinking it would be enough and that was a big mistake... I'm regretting not staying longer. I will definitely have to come back to finish everything I wanted to do."

"Loved our stay, left us feeling relaxed, having hot drinks in the room was a bonus and attention to detail was lovely. Walking distance to eat would be a problem for anyone with difficulties but I am sure a taxi wouldn’t be a problem, we found a bar restaurant nearby and the service and food was excellent, would definitely stay again."

"I loved sitting and enjoying the view on the seafront, and also walking on the lovely long promenade that stretches all the way to the next town along the coast! Zarautz is a lovely, quiet place and we had a really good time there. We are vegetarians and finding veg food is a big challenge in this part of Spain where every bar and restaurant has pintxos - all with meat or fish in them except the potato omelette!! By this time we had overdosed on the potato omelette and it was such a relief to come across Taberna Euskalduna where the enthusiastic staff gave us a delicious veg dinner at 7pm (most restaurants only open their kitchens at 8pm which is later than the dinner time we are used to!)"

"Laguardia is a stunning place to visit, the views of the surrounding countryside from the town are breath taking. Walking around the walled town's narrow streets is magical, especially in the evening. There are many Bodegas where you can take a wine tasting tour of the underground cellars where they are still used as a winery. A visit to the Church of Santa Maria is a must, book your tickets in the tourist office in the centre of Laguardia. There are many restaurant/coffee shops and shops but be aware that on Sunday and Monday's many places are either shut or only open for a few short hours. The Irish Tavern is great for Pintxos a place many locals frequent also Bar Los Sietes. I highly recommend Restaurante Biazteri 1974 for Pintxos or dinner but make sure your reserve a table if you want the "Menu Del Dia""

Hotel is located in the Old Town, very close to the river, with all mayor attractions in a walking distance. Entrance is in fact from the Viktor Street, not Calle del Correos. Daniela checked me in and gave me some info about the hotel and the city. She was very friendly and welcoming. My room was of good size, sparkling clean, well appointed, recently furnished and it had everyrhing I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable, and there was no noise, I slept like a baby. The reception and public spaces were also well kept.

Spanning the French-Spanish border, the beautiful coastal Basque Country lays a lot at your feet: renowned gourmet cuisine, stunning mountainous landscapes and wide, sandy beaches. And not forgetting its stormy history and vibrant cities - they’re a real cherry on top!

Its capital, Vitoria-Gasteiz, the 2nd largest in the region and one of the greenest European cities, features a charming town centre with Gothic churches and Renaissance town houses. More contemporary examples of architecture can be found in the region’s biggest city, Bilbao, home to the world-famous symbol and architectural gem of the Guggenheim Museum.

We had use of the garden and kitchen facilities. Within easy reach of fantastic beaches, pretty villages and an amazing bird sanctuary. An extremely relaxing experience and highly recommendable.

The bed was great, the room is very clean, and a bathtub was an amazing add-on to relax after a long drive from the Netherlands. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast a lot: fresh fruit and juice, fresh pastry. And the location is great - if the weather allows, the beach is very close; so is the Boulevard taking you to the old town.

The city is easy to get around.

The city is easy to get around. Buses are plentiful and inexpensive, especially if you invest in a Barik card; you only need one for two people. But it's a very walkable city; Google Maps gives a very pessimistic estimate of how long it takes to walk anywhere. The Casco Viejo is atmospheric, and the food is great and very reasonably priced by London standards, However, there are only so many pintxos you can eat. The Guggenheim museum is a must see and the Museum of Fine Arts was also great. When we were there the permanent collection was shut for rebuilding works, so no el Greco's, but there was a fine exhibition of modern art that was free. The Painted Houses were a lengthy walk from the centre; they were pretty enough, but in the end, just a row of houses. We weren't hugely impressed with the view from the top of the funicular, either.

We came for 'Big Week' and found the city to be much bigger...

We came for 'Big Week' and found the city to be much bigger than expected. It's crowded and lively if you like that sort of thing. Lots to see and do. The firework displays were amazing. We found it easier to find places to eat in the Gros district which is near to the old town and less touristy.

Incredible city, clean, green, cultural, friendly, welcoming, old but new; weather in comparison with the rest of the places in summer: PARADISE- fresh- no contamination, design, culture, everything to come back. Jazz Festival exceptional.

Zarautz was a great location. It has a great train service.

Zarautz was a great location. It has a great train service. Half an hour train ride takes you right into San Sebestian & is so cheap. Great to explore for a day trip without having to bring the car. Generally a lovely town.

Irun itself I found a bit non descript however if you need a lot of shops cafes bars cinema and a mall etc. then it has all of these, but nearby Hondaribbia old town was certainly a place of character and well worth a visit.

Great location, short trip to Ferry, Very good wifi in room, Max Centre very close for fast food, secure parking for my motorcycle from 11pm to 8am, I still recommend to use locks on your motorcycle like every other hotel. Friendly staff and easy checkin, Bar, breakfast cost 10 euro and well worth it. Room was quiet and large enough for solo or couple.

Bermeo is essentially a fishing village, with all the pros and cons that entails. It never gets overly crowded, even in summer, and its narrow, charming streets offer a glimpse into the Basque way of life. Bars and cafés are everywhere—distinctive spots rather than the usual chains—while classic restaurants are virtually non-existent. The nearest beach is also simple: accessible via a steep slope, it is completely undeveloped—essentially just a small cove surrounded by rocks. While the steep path down might be a bit of a challenge, it is not a major issue. If you are looking for a larger, more beautiful beach, head over to Mundaka and take a boat across to the opposite shore; the sandbars there allow you to walk far out into the sea, offering a stunning view.

Laguardia is a beautiful place to walk around but is quite small so our 1-night stay was fine. Ysios winery (20 min walk) is worth visiting for its superb architecture. Tastings need to be pre-booked online. Svgar restaurant is recommended.

A great neighbourhood to experience authentic life in another country and culture. Weekends are festive in the area with lots of activity at the local bars and cafes. Not many tourists around though... more elderly population noticeable.
