We were there during a very busy time period but didn’t find the area too congested - the only places we ran into a bit of inconvenience due to crowds were in the main village parking areas, the grocery, and we were glad we had dinner reservations to some of the more formal dining options which seemed to be pretty booked up. We’d love to visit Levi again. Was a pleasant surprise."

"I had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness Hotel (Inari) and would highly recommend it, especially to solo female travelers. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They were happy to share local insights, activity suggestions, and practical tips, which made my stay feel both easy and well-supported.
The breakfast/dinner buffet was a real highlight, offering a generous selection of fresh, high-quality options in a relaxed and inviting setting. It was the perfect way to start/end the day.
The facilities were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, with a strong sense of calm and care throughout the property. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and at ease at all times — the atmosphere was welcoming without being intrusive, and the hotel struck a great balance between comfort and simplicity.
The staff/guides (Mikko/Reeta/Inga/David/Sofia/Julia - to name a few) were all amazing ensuring everyone (especially for the activities) experienced their own level of satisfaction as a whole group, without compromising any one person's experience. They calmly and patiently answered questions and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a high quality experience.
I was lucky enough to experience the Auroras two nights in a row during the Aurora Camp and Snowshoeing activities!
Overall, a lovely experience with attentive service, excellent amenities, and well maintained environment - I'm planning to come back during the summer!"

You can also use the snowshoe included in each igloo to watch around the winter forest behind the igloos. Not mentioning that each igloo has jacuzzi and sauna, which is so convenient. Staff were all very friendly.

United StatesKätkä Lake Lodge is truly a magical place! We really enjoyed our stay here and honestly, the lodge was our favorite stay during our week long trip to Finland. Firstly, Mikko, the owner is a fantastic host. Always there to answer our questions and really appreciated his help/comments regarding road conditions before we got there. Second, if you are looking for a place that provides peace and tranquility, the lodge is it. We really enjoyed snowshoeing on the trail across the way, it made me so happy! The breakfast options were great as well - lots to choose from. My friend is vegetarian and she enjoyed the spread as well. Kiitos very much Mikko!

The apartment was extremely, extremely clean and very well maintained. It consists of two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a balcony.
It is spacious and comfortable, suitable for 4 to 5 guests.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking utensils, and even cleaning supplies were provided, including trash bags for both the kitchen and bathroom, as well as tissues stored in the apartment’s closet.
The TV had all applications available, including YouTube and Netflix.
The balcony has a comfortable sofa for relaxation, which was a lovely touch.
There are also heaters available in case the apartment gets cold, and a hot water heater in the bathroom. The bathroom itself is very comfortable and perfect for taking a relaxing shower.
The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the hosts were very kind, friendly, and welcoming.
They also offered airport pickup and drop-off for a very reasonable price, and the car was a minivan, which was very convenient.
In addition, we joined them on an Aurora hunting trip, which was absolutely amazing. The trip included hot drinks, cookies, professional photography, and a campfire, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
I sincerely thank them for their kindness, patience, attention to detail, and their outstanding service. Highly recommended.

It’s hard to describe how amazing our time at the Arctic SnowHotel was. The hotel offers plenty of outdoor activities, and visiting the rooms and seeing each ice and snow artwork is incredible. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly.
Our igloo stay was a very unique experience, and we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights while we were there.
Visit the Ice Bar! Smash your drink to the walls, it’s a blast of fun!
I highly recommend the guided walk through the snowy forests with Veikka — we had an amazing time. The food is delicious and varied.

From airport transfer to check-in, it was smooth. The room is perfectly located near the reception and the restaurant. Staff were helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean, and they provided us with fresh, laundered towels. Housekeeping will come every day asking if you need anything. Arranging for your activities is easy, but I would recommend booking it online via their website. The breakfast buffet was really good and dinner every night is a different menu. I am definitely recommending this resort and will be coming back for sure!

We have been to other aurora cabins in Finland in Inari before. Their cabins are further apart. We did actually see aurora inside the cabin. I would imagine if the cabins were too close, this would not have been possible

Great food at Restaurant 21. At the time I visted in May, most tourist attractions were closed. If you don't know how to pay for parking and leave your car for 15 minutes you will get a ticket. I kind of regret visiting Rovaniemi, except for Restaurant 21, which has excellent food at reasonable prices.

I had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness Hotel (Inari) and would highly recommend it, especially to solo female travelers. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They were happy to share local insights, activity suggestions, and practical tips, which made my stay feel both easy and well-supported.
The breakfast/dinner buffet was a real highlight, offering a generous selection of fresh, high-quality options in a relaxed and inviting setting. It was the perfect way to start/end the day.
The facilities were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, with a strong sense of calm and care throughout the property. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and at ease at all times — the atmosphere was welcoming without being intrusive, and the hotel struck a great balance between comfort and simplicity.
The staff/guides (Mikko/Reeta/Inga/David/Sofia/Julia - to name a few) were all amazing ensuring everyone (especially for the activities) experienced their own level of satisfaction as a whole group, without compromising any one person's experience. They calmly and patiently answered questions and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a high quality experience.
I was lucky enough to experience the Auroras two nights in a row during the Aurora Camp and Snowshoeing activities!
Overall, a lovely experience with attentive service, excellent amenities, and well maintained environment - I'm planning to come back during the summer!

Small town of mostly tourists.
Small town of mostly tourists. A great place to make short daily driving trips to see the view also from Norway-coastline! Usually it is a long way to drive here so I might suggest taking an extra day to recover from it.

In late January, it was the silence that made an impression. Little traffic on the road and respectful drivers towards pedestrians. Beautiful walks in the snow on the coast a short distance from town. Helpful people.

Akaslompolo is a cross country ski paradise and winter...
Akaslompolo is a cross country ski paradise and winter wonderland (February trip). Immaculate ski trials dotted with warming huts and cafes. Loved the winter fat biking too. Ski bus runs regularly if you want to ski one way routes. The supermarket was excellent which made a self catered trip a breeze. Well equipped outdoor stores catering to all your ski and sports equipment needs.

We had long sunny days but lots of snow (if mushy). The scenery is spectacular and the town is functional - not touristy or tacky. Lots of local skiers. We stayed for 6 days and did almost every activity but wished we could stay longer and enjoy more hikes

We really enjoyed the skiing, great place to learn in a really chilled, safe environment.
There are some fabulous restaurants but expect to pay.
Will definitely be returning!

* Pizza Utopia: pizza place (12-15€)
* Musta Parta : Finnish food, beautiful place (15-35€)
* Park -hotelli restaurant: Wings etc snack (13€-20€)

The ski resort was very nice.
The ski resort was very nice. Also, Amethyst mine was great to visit. I recommend to everyone! My norther lights hunting was not successful because of the weather, but I will try again. If I had more time, I would love to cross country skiing and visit the national park nearby. I wish I could try to eat more local food from Lapland. Oh well, next time :)

Ivalo was absolutely beautiful , it is a small town but the experiences you may want to do are on the doorstep . This is a quieter peaceful Lapland resort which is ideal for adults wanting a peaceful retreat.If you have young children you may prefer Rovaniemi.
