We had an amazing stay at Naveria Heights Lodge. We live in Fiji and this was the best place we've stayed so far! Atu and Mili were so accomodating and friendly, doing everything they could to make our stay wondefcul. The lodge is beautifully built and decorated, and is prestine! And the view....wow! Nothing like it, it's like a brain bath. The garden was beautiful and green & breakfast was delicious - homemade bread and museili! The room was fantastic and very well decorated. Thank you for an amazing weekend getaway from Suva!

This was the perfect spot for us. A private one bedroom, air conditioned house on a longtime local's pristine property. We enjoyed the well maintained pool and pool house, cooked in the well outfitted kitchen, watched spectacular sunsets from our porch, and walked up and down the beach road to town. Larissa is an accommodating, friendly hostess who knows how to walk the fine line between being available and allowing your complete privacy. We love Savusavu and would definitely stay here again.

This unique vacation rental has the charm of a Fijian homestay but the privacy and peacefulness of a rustic modern bure. The kitchen is well equipped for inside cooking and a grill and lovo pit were available to us for cooking outdoors. Our hosts Karl and Frances, retired from life and careers in the city, are the resident owners of this large family estate. Our hosts were readily available by phone or by flagging down Karl as he went about his daily chores of keeping track of the sheep, cattle and resident farm hands. We were provided with all the fresh coconuts and papayas we wanted for our entire stay! Our hosts picked us up and dropped us off at the airport and invited us to accompany them for shopping trips to Savusavu town. Karl grew up on this estate so was a great tour guide on these trips. Also, with a reloadable local bus fare card you can hop a bus running hourly up and down the Hibiscus Hwy most of the day. Empty taxis northbound back to Savusavu will give you a lift for the $3 FJD bus fare. A highlight of our trip was diving at the Namena Island marine preserve with Koro Sun Dive based on nearby Savasi Island. Snorkeling is good on the reef out front (easiest at high tide) and kayaks are available for exploring the reef and shoreline. A large open lawn area fronts the estate shoreline with easy access to the water through passages in the mangroves or the adjacent sandy beach. Good internet streaming with Starlink (bring a laptop or tablet), AC, full size fridge/freezer and good well water. There is also a water dispenser with chilled bottled purified drinking water. Options for washing clothes are either the laundry sink on the back porch (no washing machine) or the hosts can provide laundry and housekeeping services as needed. If you are looking for a peaceful rural holiday and especially if you like to prepare your own meals with fresh local ingredients, you will enjoy this Fijian vacation home!

Ana, the manager, is great. She loaned me snorkeling equipment and offered to loan me her kayak as well. We had some great conversations. The bed was comfortable and Ana arranged transportation when needed.

Savusavu is a great location for a peaceful holiday, giving to a more traditional Fijian experience with less resorts on the island. The market is a great for self catering or just absorbing the atmosphere, especially early on Sat when the fish market is there too. The people are very friendly and fun to be around, as you walk down the street you are constantly greeted warmly with Bula! Nateway Bay is mostly untouched and an amazing place to see.

Definitely make the effort to venture across to Savusavu—it’s far more picturesque than Fiji’s main island. Getting around is a breeze: you can hop on local buses, grab a taxi, or simply wave down a friendly local for a ride (just agree on the fare beforehand). The people are incredibly welcoming and helpful—they’ll happily arrange any activity you fancy, and you’ll feel the rich Fijian culture everywhere. We even attended a Sunday singing service in the local church—it was breathtaking to hear the harmonies and feel the community spirit firsthand. One outstanding place to dine is La Dolce Vita Resort, where Chef Michele crafts everything from scratch—each dish melts in your mouth with fresh, local flavors.

Scruffy little town (and scruffy island) with not a lot for tourists. I have much preferred staying in the Mamanuca Island chain - cuter islands, more of a holiday feel and better snorkelling than what we experienced here. The best thing was watching steam rising off the beach in town at sunset, glowing golden in the late afternoon sun
