GermanyAfter some busy time with friends, we wanted to stay in a place a bit more remote to unwind and this place was perfect. We were looking for farmhouse vibes and this is exactly what we got. We loved being around the animals; the hosts took time to show us around and let us spend some time with the horses, who are just wonderful.
The accommodation was very cosy, and there was a lot of space. Everything was well kept and clean, and the beds were very comfortable.
Breakfast was very nice.

We are delighted to review our most recent stay at Montboulard—it was our third time here, and we love the place just as much! The wonderful hostess, Emma, always provides such a warm welcome, ensuring everything is perfectly in place for guests to thoroughly enjoy their time.
The guesthouse itself is really nice, offering a truly relaxing environment, perfect for a lovely getaway.
Montboulard is a consistent favorite of ours, known for its superb hospitality and beautiful grounds. It is certainly a location to save on your GPS and return to again and again.

Because of a big traffic jam in Bordeaux it was impossible for us to arrived before the closing time, but the lady at the reception was very pleased to arrange other solution and help us, we managed to stay close, thank you very much for your help and I will see you next year, all the best for the time at Bon Repos

Everything! Quite literally not a single bad thing. The lady that helped us was really kinda and her husband was there also in the garden. Really well thought out place. It is of course far away from things but don’t let that deter you. It’s so nice and peaceful. 😌

Charming, very helpful and accommodating host, easy car access, parking available next to the ground floor room. Good wifi. In a separate building a large kitchen dining room was available to prepare drinks and simple meals if required. Very Good breakfast.

Angouleme is a fascinating city with so much history to explore.
Top sites include the ramparts, cathedral and museum.
Its modern day claim to fame is as the birth place of Herge, the famous creator of Tintin. A visit to the museum of Dessin Anime (comic strip art) is definitely worth while. An annual festival dedicated to this art form is a good date for your diary.
As a fortified city it is quite hilly in places, something to take into consideration re mobility. If visiting in high seasonal temperatures (can reach top 30's) Would recommend hats and frequent bar/cafe stops!

There are some places you feel right at home as they evoke such a positive vibe and warm feelings, Cognac does that to me. It’s clean (unlike Paris) it’s friendly, its architecture and scenery amazing and easily walkable. Lots of OMG Mind blowing moments, like dining at Monet. But primarily it’s the people, food and ambience. Best ever Quiche Lorraine at a small Boulanger near Martel driveway entrance but cannot remember its name ?

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music...
Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music festival to view a property for sale. Based on what we experienced including Confolens, it’s indoor market building, the outdoor amphitheater, the riverside bars and eateries, the well kept commune areas and helpful welcoming French and English people we are buying.

There is a bit of everything in this region.
Very much rural France with superb food and lovely views. Quiet river picnic spots to eat at.
One of the best aspects is that even in high season, it is not crowded. Lovely day drives e.g. La Rochelle within an hour and a half drive.
A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the true French countryside without the crush of the better known areas.

This place is quite unique, hilly with narrow streets all leading to a small square. It is quite busy in the summer months but tails off a bit in the winter with some restaurants closed. It has interesting places to explore and the surrounding countryside is quite beautiful.

Lively bar and restaurant vibes in the city centre. Lots of choice for eating or just having a coffee/drink and people watching. Tapas seems to be the favourite for casual eating but there are several really good restaurants for a more formal dining experience.
Hotel du Ville and also the cathedral have been really cleaned up since our last visit and look splendid. Theatre and museums worth a visit. Watch out for the cartoon festival and also the spectacular Circuit de Remparts in September.
Like many French cities, it's a place for eating, walking and just soaking up the atmosphere.

LOVELY TOWN WITH BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE AND WELL WORTH DOING A COGNAC TOUR OF ONE OR TWO OF THE COGNAC HOUSES. A LOT OF RENNOVATION GOING ON IN THE TOWN AND THE RIVERSIDE. PLENTY OF PLACES TO CHOOSE FOR EATING OUT AND LOTS OF NICE LITTLE SHOPS TO EXPLORE. LE GARAGE IS A FUN BAR TO STOP OFF AT. WE HAD A LOVELY LUNCH AT CHEZ BIANCA AND PHILIPPE AND DELICIOUS DINNER AT THE CHAIS MONNET HOTEL.

Confolens is a pretty but small town.
Confolens is a pretty but small town. It is not great for restaurant choice out of season but we would stay in the area again as we found a nice place to eat and it was easy to walk into town from where we stayed. In summer it would be a good base to explore the area.

This is a lovely part of the world. Very peaceful with stunning countryside. A short drive away is Cognac with its magnificent selection of restaurants, The temperature is great and well the wine and cognac exceptional, as you would expect.

Situated on a steep cliffside, the village is pretty with plenty of places to eat and drink, and some interesting if rather touristy little shops. A pleasant place to spend an hour or two. There is a car park at the top for those who don't fancy the climb.
