The food was excellent and served with enthusiasm and cheerfulness. Arriving on the Thursday for "pizza night" in the outside bar was our good fortune! Tasty pizza, wine and a fun ambiance.
The staff were outstanding.
I would thorougly recommend the Auberge.

One of my favorite places to stay, in fact this was the second time I was here. Loved the location. Sitting on the balcony was wonderful. Climbing up the tower stairs, brought you back in time. I will definitely be returning one day.

Warm & welcoming host- very proud of his picture perfect castle next to a lake with big old trees in a beautiful French country setting on the edge of the traditional French village of Saint Maixant.

Both owners (husband and wife) were very friendly and welcoming, and both spoke very good English, which was an unexpected bonus, as my French is more or less non-existent!

Great stopover location. Great staff and good price.
Great stopover location. Great staff and good price. This is a standard budget hotel and will not disappoint. If travelling on a Sunday or Monday you’ll find the big bonus is that good is available in the evenings. A bit of a rarity in France.

Service was surly when we arrived.
Service was surly when we arrived. Room was down the street and we were given a key and pointed in its direction.
Food in restaurant was pretty horrible. Limited choice, fatty, damp chips and damp salad. My wife ordered jambon with a shallot sauce and got a pile of fatty bacon with what appeared to be red Leicester melted over it. I ordered the local special of ham with a cheese fondue sauce, got a few slices of processed ham and a bit of dry smoked ham with what appeared to be reheated cheesy bechamel, possibly from a cash and carry bucket.
No air con in room and not even an electric fan given that temperature was extremely high. Tatty bathroom, couple of cheap sachets of shampoo, though surprisingly good and modern shower. Shower of dust and insects fell from 70s light fitting which probably when it was last cleaned.
So, no not great.

Boussac although on a main road has many back streets full...
Boussac although on a main road has many back streets full of charming old buildings. A large Chateau overlooks the countryside, and a must see. Eating out, there are a number of choices from the Central Hotels fine restaurant to a number of take aways. There is also an excellent Bar\restaurant on the main square which is always busy with locals.

Hotel was fine for a budget price.
Hotel was fine for a budget price. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and the restaurant was very good. Gueret is a very quiet town, not much going on. We couldn't find a grocery store open past 7.
