Everything. Only word to explain this place was perfect. Me and my partner have travelled a lot and we can't think of a better spot weve stayed at. Owners were really lovely, as was the gentleman who sorted our coffee and breakfast. The house only has 4 bedrooms so you have a very peaceful experience. Highly recommend and we definitely plan on staying again in the future.

A wonderful place to stay! The staff were extremely supportive and went out of their way to help. There’s a convenient public parking area right at the hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable - ideal for a one-night stop, which suited us perfectly since we were just passing through. We definitely recommend this hotel!

Beautiful setting. The room was very comfortable, beautifully decorated. The bath tub was amazing. The staff were amazingly kind and helpful. We enjoyed the spa experience. Very conveniently located as well.

Delightful gentleman at the desk when we arrived. Very friendly, upgraded us to a quieter room which was a lovely surprise.
Batiment E was very clean and looked brand new, the room Immaculate and clean.

Besançon pleasantly surprised us.
Besançon pleasantly surprised us. We usually just passed through on our way to Dijon or Lyon, but stopping here was definitely worth it! The historic center has a wonderful atmosphere, highlighted by the Église Sainte-Madeleine de Besançon. Make sure to allow enough time for the local Museum of Archaeology and Fine Arts. The collection is extensive but well worth the time. The military fortifications around the city, including the Citadel (a UNESCO World Heritage site), were also an interesting highlight. The only downside is that the city is not a major tourist destination, so finding souvenirs can be a bit difficult, and even at the Citadel the selection is rather limited.

Pontarlier is a very good location if you want to travel to Switzerland and still benefit from the French better prices for food and accommodation.
Intermarche supermarket in Pontarlier is an excellent place for food products.

I came to see the Peugeot museum and that was good.
I came to see the Peugeot museum and that was good. The town itself is uninspiring but the town does not hold itself out as a tourist destination a lot ofnd seems to be just another French semi industrial town with an interesting museum for those interested in cars and Peugeot manufacturing history.

A cute little French village with lovely walks, several amazing bakeries and a to-die-for cheese shop. See the cathedral at night. The river is just lovely, very lazy and clean.
Grocery stores and good restaurants are all in walking distance.

Location and building - truly amazing to be staying in Ledoux's masterpiece. We loved exploring the site. The on-site cafe was great for breakfast (very plentiful, fresh and delicious) and for aperitifs and we found two good restaurants within walking distance (the Bar 1718 over the road, and the extremely good restaurant in the Relais down the road).

I didn't have the time to visit most of the inner city, but from what I can tell it's rather average, somewhat well-kept but far from ambitious in its design.
Probably best for one to focus on Dijon, although Besançon could still be explored on your way to the mountains

"I had an amazing stay at this hotel in Lake Maggiore. The facilities are excellent, with several pools, including a heated one that was perfect for relaxing. Both the common areas and the rooms were spotlessly clean, which made the whole experience very comfortable. The location is also a big highlight, as it is very well situated and makes it easy to access the main attractions of the region. Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy Lake Maggiore with comfort and quality."

Very nice place, Citadel is fantastic.
Very nice place, Citadel is fantastic. Besançon is not a touristic place - and i loved it the most. Food is excellent in all the palces we visited.
Very advisable to check what activities are in the Citadel the days you visit.

We stayed for 5 nights in the charming old town area and...
We stayed for 5 nights in the charming old town area and would recommend the La Poste Brasserie for an evening meal. A drive round lake Saint-Point is a must, it is absolutely beautiful with lovely scenery and you can stop and sit by the lake or hire a pedallo at Saint-Point.
Pontarlier is near the border with Switzerland and we drove there a couple of times, both trips taking about an hour. We went to Montreux on Lake Geneva, which was very upmarket and fabulous and also to Neuchâtel on Lac de Neuchâtel, which was also very nice, though not in the same way.
