We received a warm hospitable welcome that continued throughout our stay. Good English was spoken which we appreciated! The hotel was spotless inside and out. Our room was one of the smaller ones as the hotel was full and we booked late. It was fine though and the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and nicely done with an excellent shower. I enjoyed a relaxing swim in the pool - towels provided. We both enjoyed a delicious evening meal sitting outside looking at the sweeping view. The gardens are very well cared for and there is plenty of parking. The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes off the motorway but you don’t hear the traffic. We would definitely recommend the hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Wow, what a fantastic place to stay. We were in a wolf lodge and to wake up to the wolf’s howls was amazing- they were also running/walking just in front of the lodge. An experience we will never forget. The lodge itself was clean, comfortable and exactly as described. The staff were fabulous. You could also go around the rest of the zoo (when it was open). Do not hesitate if you are thinking of staying here - it might not be the cheapest night but worth every euro!!!

Very good for a relaxing stopover when travelling from Spain to the UK. Helpful staff, good dinner and breakfast. Access to the town centre was easy. Many of the bars were closed but the 'Irish Bar', wonderfully internal celebration of rugby, kindly made us a drink as they were setting up for the early evening customers. Thank you.

I loved the ancient medieval vibe of the village, with lots of historical well-preserved buildings, the tapestry savoir-faire DNA and the vibrant population who seems proud of their heritage. The farmers market gave it the quintessential French village vibe. Parking a car is pretty easy around town and the little art shops and galleries make it the perfect French countryside getaway.

We visited the Martyr Village; a very moving and horrific story and the village is a well presented, important monument to the people who lost there lives. It was useful to have read about it beforehand as there was very little information in the village. However there is a large new Visitor's Centre due to be opened next year. The old visitor Centre was closed at the time of our visit.

Service was surly when we arrived.

Service was surly when we arrived. Room was down the street and we were given a key and pointed in its direction. Food in restaurant was pretty horrible. Limited choice, fatty, damp chips and damp salad. My wife ordered jambon with a shallot sauce and got a pile of fatty bacon with what appeared to be red Leicester melted over it. I ordered the local special of ham with a cheese fondue sauce, got a few slices of processed ham and a bit of dry smoked ham with what appeared to be reheated cheesy bechamel, possibly from a cash and carry bucket. No air con in room and not even an electric fan given that temperature was extremely high. Tatty bathroom, couple of cheap sachets of shampoo, though surprisingly good and modern shower. Shower of dust and insects fell from 70s light fitting which probably when it was last cleaned. So, no not great.

Pleasant attractive town - while certainly pretty it doesn't suffer from being excessively touristic. It has several cafes - nothing fancy but you can get a cold beer and a coffee for a reasonable price. Market once a week. Not a lot of options for eating - the Creperie des Ramparts is ok - a fairly average creperie but in a good location by the river. Couple of boulangeries with good bread. Charcuterie, deli etc. Medium-sized supermarket has all the basic stuff and cheaper fuel. The nearby lake is great for children with kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, pedalo rentals etc. There are numerous walking and mountain bike (VTT) trails in the area. A couple of GRs. Also river kayaking (though didn't try it). All in all a great location for an outdoor holiday.

The Super 8 store catered for all our needs. The 13 bus line gave us good access to Limoges. The cost of taxis was excessive. Uber as usual didn’t turn up. We had a very nice meal in Limoges where there are lots of eateries. Our main activities centred around the swimming pool and the pool table.

The accommodation was a dreadful experience.

The accommodation was a dreadful experience. In over 20 years of travel we have never walked out of accommodation. Complete lack of communication from owner on how to enter property even though we repeatedly advised them that we would not have internet on day of travel. Entry at 5 pm is not acceptable. Entry from street did not work . Other occupant gave us entry! We spent 30 min trying to access apartment key. No internet advice, no milk, no welcome! Could not replace key in box. Advise complete overhaul of system. Very disappointed and will not recommend this. Luckily, Limoges did not disappoint.

Good location with free parking directly opposite the hotel.

Good location with free parking directly opposite the hotel. The Ibis ticked all our boxes for a one night stay. Brive is a lovely town and we'll be back to explore more fully. Found a great Indian restaurant, Chez Manija, that I highly recommend if that's what you enjoy, a 15 minute walk away.

So poignant and atmospheric.

So poignant and atmospheric. When the new visitor centre opens next year I think that it will be a great bonus to get more information. We visited during an intense heatwave and naturally there is little shade in the village so would recommend visiting with plenty of water and on a cooler day.
