Nothing was overlooked, Mathilde in particular really made sure everything was perfect for us. Even surprising us with wine and tapenade for my husbands birthday whilst we were in the spa. She aided us with reservation timings and nothing was too much to ask. I honestly cannot say enough about this hotel. The value for money is the best I have experienced across the world.

The breakfast was absolutely excellent, offering a great variety and quality to start the day. The location couldn't have been better – just a few minutes away from the tram, which takes you directly to Bordeaux, making it very convenient. The service was top-notch, and I was particularly impressed with how helpful and friendly the staff was. It's such a pity that I could only stay for one night and had to leave early, as I would have loved to make full use of the services offered. All in all, it was a fantastic experience!

Excellent communication to and from the staff before and during my stay. Very helpful and friendly throughout. The room was small but all that was needed and had a comfortable bed and hot shower.
Only a10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop direct into the centre of Bordeaux.
Free and secure carparking was a real bonus and easy to get to from the main roads rather than attempting to drive through the city and find available parking.

This is one of the classic building in town. It is away from the beach; but, very close. We had a room with a balcony, which was very nice and the room quiet. The town was having their annual celebration week and it was fun to be there for it. There were many restaurants from which to pick and we visited the food hall the next morning. Hotel breakfast was excellent and our bike were kept safe overnight.

This is a little piece of heaven. The perfect place to relax after a day of cycling. The owner is super sweet and available. Breakfast is great. Nothing missing: You can even dine on location (next to the pool), as we ordered dinner from a local gastronomy which was conveniently brought to us. Truly unique.

Lovely family run campsite. Good bar and restaurant and refreshing pool all next to children's play area. Great location next to village with boulangerie etc short drive to many great surfing beaches. Very nice evening entertainments. Worked well for my family with 3 children.

The campsite itself is very cool - the rooms are clean and cozy, they accommodated us when we asked for an early check-out and a later departure, so overall my friends and I liked it here and we recommend the campsite!

A classic beach resort, and oh what a beach.
A classic beach resort, and oh what a beach. Swimming is monitored by lifeguards in designated areas as the waves are magnificent and can be dangerous. Good surfing conditions. A number of good quality restaurants with varied styles and price points, and a lot of clothes shops. The market is excellent.

We loved the lodge, had a great time and thank you for everything. Venue - amazing, facilities - great, pool - a good send and so nice and warm, kitchen - had everything anyone could need. We enjoyed a lovely boat trip on the lake, and super food at various restuarants - too many to choose from!

Carcans Plage is a wonderful sandy beach.
Carcans Plage is a wonderful sandy beach. You can walk for miles and hardly see anyone other than by the village itself. Behind the beach are extensive sand dunes and then a vast forest that seems to go on forever. If you like the outdoors you will love Carcans Plage.

This is a review of both Bruges (Bordeaux) and the surrounding area. We didn't really explore the immediate area around Bruges but visited Bordeaux via the tram from there often. Adored the old city center. The reflection pool (Mirror D'Eau) near the Place de la Bourse was amazing, especially for kids. When we first arrived I was a bit disappointed as there was such a thin film of water but we stuck around just in case and sure enough in about 20 minutes the water started to seep up and covered the area with about an inch of water so the kids (and adults) were soon splashing about. We explored the town and wandered the shopping at Rue Saint Catherine. We loved the area but be forewarned: restaurants typically close midday service around 2:30 and re-open for dinner around 5 or 6 in the evening. You can still find the odd brasserie open but expect to have to hunt around to find a spot of lunch if you are past this time.
Other highlights of our trip:
* Grande Dune du Pilat (1.5 hour drive) absolute must visit to see Europes tallest and largest sand dune. Kids LOVE it but not for the elderly or those who have mobility issues as it involves strenuous hiking.
* Lascaux Caves (2.0 hour drive) another must see for the 20K year old Cro-magnon cave paintings there.
* Saint-Émilion (1 hour drive) is somewhat between the caves and Bordeaux so you can do both in one day. This is a famous medieval town renown for its wine and is a beautiful region to visit.
* Cite du Vin: The wine museum in Bordeaux that will tell you a lot about the history of wine and specifically the region. Might bore the kids though.
I am sure we missed a ton of things to see but in fairness we only had a week so I would love to go back and do some more exploring.

The Chateau and grounds were gorgeous!
The Chateau and grounds were gorgeous! Everyone on the staff was very friendly and helpful - arranged for a driver, bikes to borrow, dinner reservations, every need was anticipated. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and included eggs from their chickens and herbs from the garden. We stayed one night - wish we had stayed longer!

Soulac sur Mer surpassed all expectations. This was the best holiday destination I have ever visited. Superb beach (monstrous), clean and well maintained. It is safe and well manned with lifeguards. I thought such a place would be over crowded but not at all. The town itself was beautiful with very attractive architecture, superbly maintained. beautiful streets with top class dining facilities and good value. The array of shops, the local market, it was all in Soulac sur Mer., Ample parking was a bonus. It will be hard to risk going elsewhere after this experience.
