Large modern spacious room and bathroom, wonderful bed and pillows (best one we have slept in for ages). Good plentiful breakfast Nice dinner Very friendly staff/owners We also liked the channel options on the television, none of the other hotels we went to, had this. As we came from the South and we choose this hotel as a stopover, we did have the impression that we had to do a small detour. But this was actually perfect, an escape from the autoroute to drive along the fields and typical sleepy villages, we loved it!

Very quirky, in a good way and evening beer on deck with the sun going down was perfect. Bed on of the most comfortable I have slept in at a hotel. Location could not be faulted especially being on the river absolutely in the middle.

Location In the centre of town, right next to the Tourist Bureau with a beautiful view of River Meuse. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping districts. The Junior Suite room Incredibly comfortable, great beds. Amazing bathroom... the best bathtub ever. It was great to soak in after walking the battlefields, sipping a glass of wine. Breakfast High quality produce. The creamiest, softest scrambled eggs... delicious. Staff Lilian and Esteban, on the front desk, were brilliant. Extremely friendly, genuine, and highly professional.

We have stayed at this B&B several times now on our way to the UK (and back) and every time we like it better 😉 During our last stay something special happened: Our teenage son forgot his expensive gaming console under the bedsheets when we left in the morning - but he only noticed his mistake the same evening (when we checked in to the next hotel - which was now 600 miles away, of course). Naturally, he was devastated and thought he'd never get it back, so I immediately wrote an email to B&B customer service (on a Saturday evening!) and called the reception desk in Verdun at the same time. What can I say: I have never witnessed a nicer (and quicker) way of dealing with a forgotten object in a hotel room. L****, the incredibly friendly lady at the reception desk in the morning, responded barely 15mins after my initial call and told us that my son's gaming console had been found by cleaning staff and will be sent to our home address as quick as possible. And yes, it arrived safe (and perfectly packaged!) today - just a week after our stay. Honestly, this is a guest service I could have expected from a fancy 5* hotel but not from a budget B&B. What an absolutely excellent guest service from the hotel staff in Verdun! I can't thank their team enough. Apart from that, this B&B in Verdun is one of the best of the B&B hotel chain (I know quite some of them): Plenty of safe parking right in front of the hotel, there's a supermarket 3mins away, it has a nice outside sitting area where you can enjoy local beers from the fridge in the reception - and: the breakfast is surprisingly good. Plus: clean rooms (constantly over the years).

I liked the ability to walk a relatively short distances in Verdun, to a wide variety of Cafes and restaurants, and monuments. I liked the variety of restaurants near or along the water front. Also, by car, it is a short drive to major Verdun museums and battle grounds and American cemeteries in the area. So munch to see and comprehend.i would have loved staying longer, but only had a two weeks to see other destinations as well. Also, It will be best rent a car at the Charles De Gaulle airport.

Liked everything , the host was very helpful , warm and friendly . Bedroom was extremely spacious with tissues hairdryer , liquid soap etc . Also. a little kitchen with a fridge downstairs which we could use. Swimming pool was lovely . we had a fantastic time thoroughly recommend it .

We can't comment on Verdun as we only stayed one night at the beginning of our holiday. From afar it looked interesting but the area where the hotel is situated doesn't look prosperous and quite frankly safe. I am sure there other parts which we didn't have time and were too tired to explore.

This is a charming small town in a region which begs...

This is a charming small town in a region which begs exploration. The inventor or the bicycle came from here; markets and quality shops abound alongside the river and canal shoulder to shoulder with some really impressive historical buildings and beautifully preserved traditional houses. Bustling, yet relaxing at the same time. Good food is available in a whole range of restaurants and less formal eateries and, of course the Champagne region is right 'next door'.

Heart of it by the river was very warm and intriguing, apparently oriented towards the people who live there and like to meet at the sidewalk cafes to talk and read newspapers; not a prosperous town on a well-travelled circuit. Rather sleepy in places, with awkward-hanging window shutters and walls that haven't been painted in many years. The old military fortifications are extraordinary to see looming over it all. We were only passing through on our way to somewhere else, so impressions were brief.

Another note for our stay at Ibis, Bar le Duc. We were so appreciative that each time a guest walked into the breakfast room the concierge supplied freshly warmed croissants. It was a very nice touch.
