- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 705 reviewsThe room was spacious, with a view of Mont Blanc wayyy in the distance. The grounds of the chateau are absolutely gorgeous. And the aquasens spa was a great way to spend a nice morning, which my husband and I loved. I messaged the staff my questions about booking spa time and wine tours, and they were very responsive and friendly. The amenities are the best part. 10/10 stay and if we lived closer, we'd definitely would be back!Guest review byKimberlyUnited States
- From $407.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very Good - What previous guests thought, 4,720 reviewsWe loved the bar downstairs and the place is definitely a hipster joint for young people. We are older (68 and 78) and we still enjoyed the energy and the music in the bar. Location in Lyon is great for exploring the Confluence area and the Museum. Fun place. Great staff!Guest review byAdreeUnited States

The sporting activities by the river side were great to see, as were the river cruise boats. Old Lyon was amazing - allow enough to wander about (especially in the heat) We walked mainly but the "tube" would have been a great optionGuest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A very scenic little town, though maybe a little expensive in some places. Almost every corner you turn, you'll enjoy a nice view, and the streets are nice to wander around. It's not a very big place, so if you're physically able, it's easy to get around on foot. If you're staying outside the town centre and you're going out late, carry a torch – some paths can get quite dark. Taking a cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi is worth the price, with some breathtaking views of Mont Blanc (be prepared for the altitude – it feels very disorienting if you're not used to it). The Mer de Glace is also a nice excursion, but it's very sad to see how much of the glacier is now gone thanks to climate change. There are some fantastic restaurants to stop at. I recommend L'Index for something upscale (ask the waiters about all the local produce they use) and La Fine Bouche serves an excellent dinner. For something more casual, head to Arcus Coffee for brunch or Yak for some Nepalese cuisine (order the momo dumplings!).Guest review byMarkFrance - 10.0
A lovely town, east to navigate. Beautiful lake.
A lovely town, east to navigate. Beautiful lake. Plenty cafes, shops and restaurants. The lake and surrounding mountains are just wonderful. Beware though, it can be a little expensive if you're on a budget, but it's worth paying a little more for a nice stay in my opinion.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The town is quite run down with a lot of graffiti and many closed businesses. The gondola to the Bastille was very uncomfortable and really there was nothing at the top, except the view of the city. However, we had two great dinners - one in a traditional French restaurant and the other at a 1 star Michelin restaurant.Guest review byElizabethAustralia - 4.0
To be honest, Valence is an ugly city.
To be honest, Valence is an ugly city. The Rhone flows through it but alas large motorways beside it. The centre is a bit run down. If you are on your way and are near it, you can visit the centre and have something to eat. There is a nice park near the river.Guest review bybNetherlands - 8.0
Interesting town with cultural heritage.
Interesting town with cultural heritage. I was just passing through en route from Italy to London but it is a perfect stopover for one night. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday, when some attractions eg the castle are closed but I did visit the cathedral. There are many restaurants which sell local produce.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports. If you can, we recommend you try the boat cruse around the lake and include a meal on board.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 2.0

The bed bugs. toilet paper . I made 3 separate booking .You have to buy your own Toilet paper .room cleaning is extra charge .If I booked 3 times in separate occasions they must be doing the bed and give the cleaned room to me no matter its same room . I paid full price .There was a bug at the window and Room220 is right at the road where Tram runs 24 hours almost .Christina is very rude so be firm with her .The rest of girls are really nice and speaks some English.Christina does not know English at all .She should not be working at a hotel where mostly Foreigners stays .Guest review byfouziaCanada - 10.0

We were on a mission to revisit Parc de Merlet with our grandaughter thirty-six years after we took her mother. The Parc delivered, with Chamois, Mouflon and Marmots to enjoy. The views from accommodation on that side of the valley are the best in the valley. In Les Houches village, the local patisserie was visited and a different cake enjoyed every day. There were plenty of paths (including Tour de Mont Blanc) into the forest, for walks from the chalet. Wonderful Alpine wildlife is easy to find. It was convenient to take the free train into Chamonix and take a ride to Le Brevent then walk the ridge and back to the chalet. We did the Mer de Glas, to from Chamonix. We went up to Bellevue on the teleferique and walked across the alp, finding several wild flowers and even a rare Wart-Biter Grasshopper! We then took the Tramway du Mont Blanc down to Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains and had a lovely afternoon in the beautiful park. There was a very tough Via Ferrata for the over 70s (with 50 years experience) and a Go Ape-type circuit with a rock-climb included in the trail for the 10-year-old and her Mamma, then train back to Les Houches. One weekend evening was lively down in the village, but up on the hill we could sit out in relative calm and stare at the sunset on snowy Mont Blanc, stars and the torch-lights of mountaineers picking their way down. All-in-all, very relaxing.Guest review byValerie - 6.0
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist...
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist season, felt unexpectedly lifeless. Many stores appeared permanently closed, and the town lacked any real atmosphere after early evening—by 10pm, only the casino restaurant was still serving food. This left few options for late dining or entertainment. Given these circumstances and the general sense of a closed-up town, I would not recommend visiting Evian-les-Bains, especially if you're expecting a lively lakeside resort experience. While some guides and official tourism pages highlight Evian's attractive lakefront, Belle Époque architecture, and potential activities along the lake and nearby outdoors, recent firsthand accounts confirm a lack of vibrancy and operational businesses, even in traditionally busy months. For travelers who prioritize a bustling atmosphere and broad dining options long into the evening, it may be better to look elsewhere.Guest review byRudyKUnited States
