The hotel is set in a stunning location allowing its excellent facilities (pool, tennis court, snooker room, table tennis, free bikes to ride) to be used in a tranquil setting - surrounded by countryside. The location is also great for a visit to Chambord, although we did not go. The hotel has been recently renovated, meaning the rooms and facilities were perfect and all very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and with air con in the room slept very well. The food was very good. We enjoyed a solid breakfast, some free afternoon snacks and juices, and an evening meal at the hotel restaurant.

This gem of a place is clean, comfortable, modern, and really well taken care of by its owners. The team are welcoming and helpful, helping us find a restaurant as we were late to book anything. It’s close to Chambord if you want to visit the castle, as well as other activities in the area. It’s bike friendly and offers chilled, filtered water for free to all guests (bring your own bottle, they try to avoid single use plastic). Breakfast set us up we’ll for the day.

Aubigny-sur-Nere is a very attractive and historic town and La Chaumiere is in the middle of it. We loved the building which is old and beautiful and has been wonderfully restored with every comfort. We booked an evening meal for convenience which turned out to be exceptionally good - really fine dining - but for a fraction of the price you pay in the UK for this quality of food and wine. The service was also great - both friendly and efficient.

The Hotel is conveniently located în the heart of Cheverny, and the surroundigs, including the small and beatifull Church near by, are marvellous. The petit dejeuner was a normal one for a 4 star Hotel ( do not forget to ask for an expresso, as only Black Coffee is served at the table- but because this is the French style). Lovely and eager to come back.

I have been several times to chateau les muids. Its a great place if you are traveling through France as it is near the motorway. The building and decor is everything a castle should be with rich wood paneling and decorations that feel traditional and warm. The staff are wonderful. So kind and generous.

Two lovely adjoining rooms for us and the grandchildren and three dogs. We were worried that we would have to pay 47 euro for the kids for dinner, but they cleverly have an under 12 and 12 to 17 option, plus a menu of the day for us at 34 euro. Wine is pricey! We will be back.

I liked being in the countryside, the peaceful nature and that they're dog friendly. Having a car is a definite must because it's about 2 KM from the town centre. The town is also beautiful and the residents are friendly. We didn't get the chance to eat out because we purchased food at the local supermarket. It was only one night, but it was a great place to rest after having driven for several hours that day.

The location next to Château de Chambord is undeniably the hotel’s strongest asset, but beyond that, the experience was disappointing and far below what should be expected from a 4-star property. In reality, this feels much closer to a 3-star hotel. The rooms are tired and clearly need repainting and refreshing. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. There was no heating during the night, and instead of fixing the issue properly, we were given a dusty portable heater. There is also no turndown service in the evening, which is surprising for a hotel positioning itself as luxury. Upon arrival, nobody informed us about the château access pass or offered any guidance regarding the visit, despite the hotel heavily relying on its proximity to the château as a selling point. Dinner service was also disappointing and nowhere near luxury hotel standards. We were told we were lucky to get the “last available table” because the restaurant was supposedly fully booked, yet there were many empty tables throughout the evening. To make matters worse, once guests left, the staff did not clear or reset the tables, leaving diners surrounded by dirty and messy tables for the entire meal. The service overall lacked professionalism and attention to detail. The restaurant was also disappointing: the bread was hard and far from the quality one would expect in France, and the food overall was very average and nothing exceptional. Overall, the experience relies heavily on the château location, while the quality and service do not match the images or expectations

Chambord is a very impressive chateau.

Chambord is a very impressive chateau. A must see if you are in the area. My wife liked the histopad. I would have preferred to just read the information cards. We went on June 20 on a very hot day. Even with it's enormous size the chateau was pretty crowded Large tour bus groups and groups of school children were sometimes difficult to get through.

The location is perfect, just a short walk/drive to the town for dinner and lots of choice for food - we went to O bistro we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome as they shuffled the tables around to fit us in. The children were well looked after with the children’s menu (homemade chips) and the duck was superb, as was the smoked trout starter.

A small village surrounded by the forest.

A small village surrounded by the forest. There are two bakeries, a supermarket, several restaurants. Thursday is a market day. There is a nice church and a lot of trekking opportunities around. Bracieux is a quiet place on the border of Chambord park. Chambord can be reached by bike in half an hour. The place is good to visit Chambord, Blois, Cheverny, to spend a lot of time in the nature. The wine domaines like Cheverny and Tourraine are close by for those who like a nice wine degustation.

From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome.

From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome. The house is just wonderful. It is spacious, calm and peaceful. It has works of art, statues, ceramics prints and paintings all of which are interesting and add to the feeling of being somewhere special. Our room was spacious and delightful. It was spotlessly clean. It had tasteful, well chosen furniture, and a ceiling fan that was completely silent. After we had settled in the room we had a glass of wine in the garden under the trees. Our only regret was we did not eat there. it is clear that our host is a very good cook. We saw the meal he was preparing for the other guests. The breakfast was lovely. We had croissants we had seen being cooked the night before, there were 4 different sorts of jam made from fruits from his garden. There was a whole tray of different sorts of local honey. The crowning point for us was delicious egg made from the eggs of his hens what had a run and luxurious house just outside the window in our room. We could see they are very happy hens. We ate in the Auberge next door which was easily a poor second to eating in the accomodation. We were enroute for somewhere else so did not explore the area much but we are going back to stay in the Clos des Poulies for longer and are looking forward to walks in the forest and so on.
