I didn't expect such a good place. From the street, the hotel looks quite ordinary. From the courtyard, however, it's a low-rise complex with a very atmospheric atmosphere. The rooms are clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is large and has a shower. An additional advantage is the electric heater with electronic drying and rapid heating programs. The room doesn't have a refrigerator, as described, but there is a room with a refrigerator, where everyone has their own space – a very nice feature. Cold, hot, and sparkling water are available free of charge – there's a dispenser from which you can refill as needed. Plates, glasses, and cutlery are also provided if you want to make yourself something to eat. You can also order breakfast. Bikes are available for rent – both electric and classic. There's also a charging station for cars (AC). Of course, there's also a heated outdoor pool – it's not very large, but sufficient. The staff is very helpful and friendly – their dedication is evident. This place is highly recommended.

Beautiful breakfast buffet, with an assortment of pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, even an egg-cooker. Charming vegetable garden on the grounds, from which come many of the foods they serve in the restaurant. The pool is a gem. And the family that runs the hotel couldn't be nicer. A wonderful place to stay if you're visiting the Château de Chambord.

Aubigny-sur-Nere is a very attractive and historic town and La Chaumiere is in the middle of it. We loved the building which is old and beautiful and has been wonderfully restored with every comfort. We booked an evening meal for convenience which turned out to be exceptionally good - really fine dining - but for a fraction of the price you pay in the UK for this quality of food and wine. The service was also great - both friendly and efficient.

One of my favourite hotels anywhere in the world. Such personal, kind service and so welcoming. The bathroom facilities and lack of iron and ironing board were bizarre in such a lovely hotel but it wasn't a huge inconvenience as we only stayed one night. Dinner, as ever, was mindblowingly good. One of the best restaurants in France.

Two lovely adjoining rooms for us and the grandchildren and three dogs. We were worried that we would have to pay 47 euro for the kids for dinner, but they cleverly have an under 12 and 12 to 17 option, plus a menu of the day for us at 34 euro. Wine is pricey! We will be back.

Room was a bit too small -not enough space to hang clothes and put bags away, but the bed was comfortable and clean. Lovely pool and the house it very beautiful as is the location. Staff in general were very nice. We did ask to have a drink at the bar one night when we came back from dinner and before we had finished they turned off the lights and asked us to move - which I thought was a bit strange! In general it was very nice, good breakfast which we had a couple of times and a very chilled place to stay.

The location is perfect, just a short walk/drive to the town for dinner and lots of choice for food - we went to O bistro we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome as they shuffled the tables around to fit us in. The children were well looked after with the children’s menu (homemade chips) and the duck was superb, as was the smoked trout starter.

From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome. The house is just wonderful. It is spacious, calm and peaceful. It has works of art, statues, ceramics prints and paintings all of which are interesting and add to the feeling of being somewhere special. Our room was spacious and delightful. It was spotlessly clean. It had tasteful, well chosen furniture, and a ceiling fan that was completely silent. After we had settled in the room we had a glass of wine in the garden under the trees. Our only regret was we did not eat there. it is clear that our host is a very good cook. We saw the meal he was preparing for the other guests. The breakfast was lovely. We had croissants we had seen being cooked the night before, there were 4 different sorts of jam made from fruits from his garden. There was a whole tray of different sorts of local honey. The crowning point for us was delicious egg made from the eggs of his hens what had a run and luxurious house just outside the window in our room. We could see they are very happy hens. We ate in the Auberge next door which was easily a poor second to eating in the accomodation. We were enroute for somewhere else so did not explore the area much but we are going back to stay in the Clos des Poulies for longer and are looking forward to walks in the forest and so on.

We are always looking for something a little different ,we certainly found it here.Obviously not five star luxury but a converted wagon is so beautifully appointed and the location in a wood is great. The resident dog and duck really made our Labrador’s holiday. Very comfortable bed.Only downside was the pesky mosquitos so if travelling to the Loire take some repellent.

We stayed one night on our way to the south of France. Location was ideal being just off the A20 and about 30 km south of Orleans. A little town, not village!, in the middle of the Sologne, a vast wooded area south of the Loire, the only town in the region where everything is available, with a very peculiar Scottish history and heritage (read about it and you'll be astonished, hail to the Stuarts!) timbered houses abound. Very near to the Sancerre vineyards, Reuilly, need one say more? 'La Chaumière' is the place to be to spend the night, and have a very good diner. The chef has already a Bib-gourmand, don't wait too long...Aubigny sur Nère is about 30 minutes away from the autoroute, heading south or north (A 20 and A77), we just like to stay there to cut in half the long route from N to S and vv.
