While on a bike tour through France we stopped at this great hotel and very much enjoyed our stay. The family-run whole hotel (rooms, reception area, restaurant, terrace) is lovely and stylishly decorated. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. They even helped cleaning our bikes and prepared us a picnic the next day. We booked half-board (breakfast and dinner) and the food was delicious. The breakfast buffet leaves no wishes unfulfilled. Ideal also for vegetarians. We can only recommend this hotel.

We slept 4 nights in the tent, and the choice was unforgettable. It's very cozy, the beaches are exceptional and you can choose daily to enjoy the sea elsewhere. Discovering the island by bike is wonderful! The voice of the sea is special when you sleep in the tent and that vacation vibe when you spend the day in nature is what makes the experience unforgettable. It's far for me, but I think I will come back!!!

Warm, spacious room, huge shower, with a view across the pool and harbour. Parking right outside the hotel. Julian looked after us very well during our stay, arranging dinner at our favourite restaurant on the island (L’Etier) and also booking us a taxi from the hotel. My wife enjoyed the spa, and we had the luxury of a 12pm check out, meaning we could explore the town as well.

We have been to St Jean and Le Bois Dormant a few times. Its always good to stay there. The staff were very helpful Esther on the front desk in particular. The camp facilities were good and the 2new" food facility at the gate excellent ( the chips/fries from the existing place are brilliant too!) No complaints about the cleanliness or anything else on the main camp.

Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night on our way to Spain, but I would love to come back here for a longer time. At first glance I liked the landscaping, the area is well maintained. Not far from the campsite there is an opportunity to go horse riding. All I can say is that the place is great, but I didn't have time to explore it. I hope to come back next year.

The location was perfect for us. Very friendly and professional staff at check in. The mobile home was very clean and was fully equipped. Bed linen is available for a small extra charge. The on-site bar and restaurant is very good too. There is also a small shop selling basic groceries and fresh pastries everyday. All in all a great place to stay.

Les Sables d'Olone is a lovely seaside resort on the coast of the Vendée, and visiting is a delightfully French experience - the architecture, the lovely beach, the bars and restaurants - it's a truly lovely place. There's plenty to see and do there, the people are friendly, and there are plenty of places to stay. It's an attractive mix of old-fashioned and modern, with the added benefit of plenty of street parking. It's a great place to go and unwind for a few days, and I'll most definitely be going back.

An excellent seaside town with many holidaymakers, a great beach and many eating establishments. Clean and tidy with ample free parking it is a gem for a good holiday. I would recommend the friendly and favourably priced The Robinson Hotel and Restaurant and La Bocca bar and restaurant. There is an excellent swimming pool beside the beach and children’s’ activities are organised regularly during school holidays.

Nice, quiet village.

Nice, quiet village. We stayed there the night before and night after our Puy du Fou visit. The local bar was around the corner, also a burger place & a pizza place. Though the burger place was closed when we got there the first night, there was a vending machine with microwaves, and the pizza place is open late. Nice to have a drink at the bar. Very convenient for Puy du Fou.

We were going to Puy Du Fou, and the owner gave us the right tip to go there quicker. They gave us as well the right restaurant at Les Herbiers and I could appreciate the beauty of the city. So just one evening. The rest of our stay was for the Puy du Fou.

lovely little island - once outside the main centre - it is glorious - quiet roads - safe to cycle -lots to see - a lot of touristy shops but also a good mix of essentials too - plenty of places to eat - wide range of restaurants all good we wished we had booked for 2 weeks not 2 days

I’ve visited Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie many times over the...

I’ve visited Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie many times over the last 20-odd years but never stayed here until now. It was a superb choice: close to the cycle route, 15 mins from three excellent bakeries and one minute from the promenade. There’s a good choice of restaurants, ice cream parlours, kiosks and bars within 5-6 minutes’ walk and the two towns just a bit further in the other direction. I would recommend the area to anyone: there are activities for the whole family, for beach fans or people looking for cultural days out. It’s worth going just for the food but the scenery is spectacular with some fantastic sunsets. The weather is changeable but all you need is decent clothing. Top tip: visit Boulangerie Bleue in Saint Gilles for superb bread and some interesting desserts!

The modern town has some good independent shops bars and cafes. There is a lovely very small Free Tram ride which travels around the outskirts of the town, with various stops at potential places of interest. There are also a number of public car parks.

The write up was great but the reality was totally different...

The write up was great but the reality was totally different. If we could have found the property (there was no number 4 in a line of similar looking blocks of buildings) and had we been given an accurate description of the built-up area from the owners, we might have saved being charged 140 euros by them for nothing and then having to book into a hotel nearby!

Extremely comfortable stay, perfect location for Puy Du Fou. Exceptional hosts, very helpful & knowledgeable. Would loved to have stayed longer & would absolutely recommend here , a must stay.
