We stayed in the converted and charming mill cottage by the waterfalls. A group of six and had everything we needed, plus room to entertain. Comfortable & spacious with fabulous views of the falls. Had a private dining room in main hotel to celebrate a special birthday and staff very helpful organising the cake and decorations etc. You can walk along the river to the coastline from the hotel.

Thurso still feels a generally friendly town.

Thurso still feels a generally friendly town. The Visitors Centre was excellent, very helpful friendly staff, with advice, directions and postcards. The beach is lovely, and the castle very picturesque, though I have no idea if you can go round it as it is on the opposite side of a long inlet and I wasn't about to walk all the way round there on the off-chance. Good amount of shops, and seemingly banks still in the town. YNot offers expensive but good quality food. If you want a walk, or have a car, the Ferry Inn in Scrabster is a great place to eat too.

Castletown is perfect for touring the northern part of scotland. The scenery is just beautiful, lot of little places to visit. Just perfect. My favourite place to visit while there was John 'O' Groats. We stayed at the Castletown Hotel and ate there the food was delicious 😋 will definitely be back

A really lovely hotel. Food (breakfast and dinner) was amazing (apart from Tart Tatin very soggy pastry). Staff professional, helpful and friendly. Disappointed couldn’t have a cocktail at bar. However, a fab place to stay.

John O Groats is a very small place. which sort of has to be visited if your in the area. I wouldn't rate it as a destination if it wasn't for the fact its the northern most point on mainland UK

Everything surpassed expectations.

Everything surpassed expectations. I had the most peaceful night that I can remember, the facilities were spot on, the views were spectacular and one immediately felt a peacefulness that I can only describe as sublime. The caravan itself was immaculate and I particularly liked the decking which had double doors opening out on to it. The provisions left were outstanding, the layout and size of the rooms made it easy for us of advanced age to navigate , the beds comfortable and the washing and showering facilities very clean and easy to use.

Bed and bedlinen very poor quality.

Bed and bedlinen very poor quality. Pillows were worst i ever slept on. Let a lovely chalet down. We were in agony the next morning after a horrendous sleep. Everything bought from b&m. Not what you expect for price you pay. Small towels. This place could be amazing with nice quality bedding and some nice touches. Rather clinical. Move the couch please so you can watch the tv

A poor and unattractive place.

A poor and unattractive place. Most shops were empty and nothing was looked after, except a superb flower garden around a statue in a little square near the hotel. It was difficult to find somewhere nice to eat. Quite depressing environment.
