We have stayed here several times and once again, Tess and her team were excellent.
The New Years eve meal was very very good with excellent service (as usual).
We will be staying again as soon as we are able to.

We stayed at The Northgate Hotel for our wedding anniversary...
We stayed at The Northgate Hotel for our wedding anniversary. It was a good choice. The staff were very friendly and room was comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. This was a very peaceful place to come for some respite. I would definitely visit again.

A lovely village with lots of facilities for eating drinking etc. Car parking was adequate & reasonably priced. St Andrew's Church was glorious & we were made very welcome by the congregation on Sunday morning.

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment...
I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.

A visit to Lydford Gorge is a must, especially for walkers...
A visit to Lydford Gorge is a must, especially for walkers and those who enjoy waterfalls. Equally there are other good walks up to Bat Tor, where I watched the Solar Eclipse. There is the church and castle to view too and you are near to other local places to explore too by car.

General ambience is lovely and comfortable with lots of interesting furnishings. Staff are excellent. Food style and menu not to our liking. Bathroom without shower and difficult to use jacuzzi bath, which could be regarded as hazardous for the non-nimble. The surrounding countryside is, of course, wonderful.

If you love being in the countryside with no neighbours...
If you love being in the countryside with no neighbours except the odd animal then it's perfect. Your on dartmoor national Park in minutes Avon dam widecombe on the moor buckfast Abbey and there's a nice little cafe in south brent that sells pot off tea with China cup and saucers, beer, breakfast , lunch etc.

I really enjoyed visiting the Dartmoor Prison visitors centre. An unexpected treat.
I was lucky with the weather, mainly blue skies and fluffy clouds. Fog and rain came and went quickly. It's Dartmoor after all. It's very central for visiting the moors and the seaside. I liked it. There's a visitors centre there for advice re where to go. Local pride is evident.

Ashburton is well placed for reaching both Dartmoor and the South Devon coastline, as well as days out further afield. The town is charming, still with plenty of independent shops. There are lots of places to eat in the area.

Pod was a little gem. Just right for 2. Peaceful surroundings with well stocked lake.
Nice to be able to just be, to recharge yourself, reconnect, a bit of us quality time In a very pretty and clean site. Instructions very clear to open barriers and key lock.
Will definitely stay again. Excellent meal at Kings Arms pub.
