Buckfastleigh is the perfect place from which to explore the Devon coast and the Dartmoor National Park. Buckfast Abbey is a delight to visit, there is a steam railway to Tavistock and the butterfly and otter centre near the station is well worth a visit. Dartmoor National Park is a short drive away.Guest review byMichaelSpain - 8.0

Moretonhampstead is a nice old market town with a good deli and butchers and a couple of nice places to eat. It also has some interesting medieval alms houses and a good art gallery next to the church. It has a walk/cycle path that connects it to pretty villages not far away.Guest review bysUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Chagford is a gorgeous friendly little place with plenty of lovely coffee shops, eateries and shops too. Lovely places to walk too. Our favourite breakfast place was the Birdcage cafe and our favourite pubs for food of an evening were the three crowns and th Ring o Bells.Guest review byTraci WhiteUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge.
We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge. The Whitelady waterfall was lovely but a very long steep trek for just one waterfall. The Devils Cauldren was the highlight. A shorter, but more tricky, walk. Amazing sheer sides with a roaring river in the bottom. Steps clinging to the sheer sides with just a single hand rail to hang on to. No dogs or children allowed in the more hazardous bits. I was alternately amazed and terrified.Guest review byBellUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I really enjoyed my relaxing weekend at Turtley Corn Mill in the Devon countryside. The venue with well kept gardens and restaurant plus my room were all excellent. Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean.
Room was a family room, 2 bedroom very clean. Make sure you drive the A road up to the property not the B road if you don’t like height’s. Bar stops serving food at 9pm so if travelling late maybe ask them to save you something or make a sandwich. Remember you are high up so the weather can be very different to what it is further down the hill.Guest review byBradford - 10.0

Beautiful town with loads of independently run shops and a couple of restaurants. Great base for day trips further afield too such as the many picturesque beaches that are about 30 minutes by car. Beware of the roads. Incredibly narrow!Guest review byMattUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We really appreciated the helpful and friendly staff.
We really appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. The warm atmosphere and the peaceful and pretty location. Plenty of long countryside walks from the hotel without needing the car. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable.Guest review byNicolaUnited Kingdom
