My wife and I had a lovely one-night stay with the people at the Mistley Thorn, and enjoyed an excellent fish dinner there with friends. The Deluxe King Suite was superb, the bed king-sized and really comfortable, and I was able to park right outside. The breakfast was first class, and nothing too much trouble for their staff. They even gave us two complimentary bottles of water when it was time to hit the road. We shall certainly stay there again when we are in the area, and I have no hesitation in recommending the Mistley Thorn.

Quintessential British! Lovely lush green garden, Bramley toiletries, made with natural essential oils and make the entire accommodation smell fresh, friendly owners Paul and Claire (Paul cooks a delicious breakfast). The bed was comfortable and we slept so well our 2 nights here. We enjoyed the quiet and easy parking yet so close to shopping and numerous restaurants. We will come again!

Worth a short visit, nice little high street.Antique shop but very expensive.Couple of coffee shops. May be a problem parking in high street when summer time. Good location for National trust. Melford Hall which has plenty of history with a free guide and a tea rooms with some outdoor seating which was very nice.

John Constable Exhibition just up the road at Flatford (few mins walk) very interesting and moving. The Clarke's Victorian house, how they lived in these times also fascinating. River Stour boat trip pleasant and pilots knowledgeable. Place for Plants gardens and RSPB section nice to visit (see the various carvings out of trees). The National Trust shops all seem to have the same generic stock whichever part of the country you are in..and are very expensive, they need to sell LOCAL things. Lion Brasserie good food and friendly service. Need a car to get around.

Idyllic, quiet village location on the village green.

Idyllic, quiet village location on the village green. Thr Five bells is a quaint, oldy worldy country pub that oozes charm and character. The staff are friendly and treat you like family. The accommodation was an amazing surprise. Clean, modern and just the right size for myself and my wife. Perfect en suite toilet/shower room. Coffee/teamaking facilities in the room as well as available at the bar. We wish we could have stayed longer but we came up country from Bournemouth for a family wedding. Will definitely be booking another stay here, hopefully soon.

Glemsford is a small village but a 5 min drive brings you into Long Melford with National Trust properties, huge array of great restaurants, cafes and good quality pubs and a huge but most beautiful church. Lovely antique shops (where Lovejoy was filmed) and private shops. Kentwall Hall is a must to visit
