Very peaceful location. Very well kitted out. Small as you would expect for a shepherd’s hut but very good use of space. Nice selection of goodies on arrival. Very friendly owner checked to make sure all ok.

Tranquil setting, oasis of calm. Local wildlife right on the doorstep was magical. Spotlessly clean and tidy, very well equipped with cooking and cleaning facilities. Superb shower. Bed was so comfortable it was the best sleep we’ve had in ages. Lounge comfortable with tv. Homely touches across the cabin made this perfect, from arrival to departure. We were charmed to observe local rabbits playing in the field and garden.

Didn’t spend much time in Sudbury as been before but ate at the Mill Hotel which is a lovely dog friendly place with a water wheel in the bar.
Went to the Quay Theatre which is tiny but worth a visit if you see a show or play you fancy.

Everything was fine.
Everything was fine. I recommend the Grover & Allen pub not far away. It had my favourite cask ale at a very generous price. I bought some naan breads and dips from the local Morrisons store for my short overnight stay, plus fruit scones to have with tea. Had I stayed the whole weekend, I would have made more use of the kitchen and cooked some proper meals.

Sudbury is a fine looking old town with a lot that's interesting to see and some nice restaurants. Gainsborough's House was very interesting. Well worth a visit. The Lydia Turkish restaurant had great food and great service. In this premises, writer John Bunyan stayed with the family. The White Horse pub was friendly and relaxed with a menu for seniors that was very reasonable. Simon of Sudbury's skull which was cut off during the Peasant's revolt, can be seen in St Gregory's church but we didn't have time in the end to see that, as we realised too late. He was the Bishop and Chancellor who 'invented' the poll tax. Also at one time he was a Pope's assistant and an ambassador. There were music events but mostly near or during week-ends. The 753 bus near our Mill House Hotel (which had beautiful views) will take people to Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds. Bus timetables showing local stops were hard to find, even on the internet. Traffic was terrible with few safe pedestrian crossings even on the most dangerous junctions like the junction of Stour St and Gregory St which is on the A131 which runs through the town. It doesn't seem to be a town that considers pedestrians or their safety There was no taxi rank at the station and no information on where to find one. Sudbury could do with a by-pass for traffic which is just passing through and does not need to stop there.

Sudbury is a very compact town full of interesting architectural features in the centre. It's easy to walk about, although the traffic is constant and fast, so caution is needed when crossing any roads. The tourist information is easy to find and contains a lot of very helpful leaflets about things to do in and around Sudbury.

We only stayed for one night but know Sudbury because of past visits. It is a small but pleasant town with nice walks across the water meadows. But it has a great deal of traffic as it is a main route for a number of other destinations eg Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford.

Not a great deal to offer in Sudbury but the Gainsborough museum and galleries and cafe with garden were a must if you are interested in art. It has a new wing and is spread over different buildings in the main street from the Mill hotel and is very informative with a lovely receptionist. The food in the cafe is good although we only had a snack this time. Not a lot of restaurants open in the evening so resorted to eating back at the hotel which is also worth a visit as they have a working Mill in the restaurant and bar area.
Also behind the hotel is a very good walk through the meadows with the occasional bridge and cows roam freely and even saw them drinking in the shallow part of the river.
