Colchester is a nice old town. Not too busy. I accompanied my daughter who studies at the University of Essex. Once you know the bus routes it is quiet convenient to travel around Colchester and the mini cabs are available should you need a cab.
I was in the area to actually visit the village of my ancestors in Messing, Essex.
This is a fantastic historical town in the UK. The friendly local people, delicious food and the quietness of a beautiful town make you don't wanna leave! A great place worth to have a visit! It's also the home of Essex University! Just spend more time here to enjoy the warmly sunshine, various kind of food and the peaceful atmosphere!
Chelmsford has a lot of historical places to visit and is building new shops and shopping centres it is becoming the place to go in Essex They have very good resturants and coffee shops and at some you do not feel rushed if you stay awhile
I live near Maldon and am well acquainted with it. It is an old Essex market town and has a lot of charm. Lots of places to eat and drink, and some lovely little shops. It also has an interesting history, if one cares to look into it.
Just another Essex city. Not much to do or visit. Plenty of McDonald's junk everywhere around the city though. They must really like this fast food there.
I was visiting my niece who is attending the University of Essex, and my visit was short, so didn't get to see as much of the area as I would have liked. It was a easy trip from train station to the University by bus. Also from bus to the main shopping area/dining area in Colchester. Would come back to spend a bit more time to see more local historical sites.
My daughter lives here. It is built on a hill with a church at the top and a river and antique centre at the bottom. It is an old market town with nice old building along the high street. It is unusual to have a hill in Essex. Well worth a visit.
It is me again Trevor for Visitors coming to Southend on sea Essex, I think when people go to a sea side resort in the england, they need to find a Fish and chip shop take away or eat in maybe having travelled a long distance because of so very much to see and do. When people have children they need some food to keep going, there is what is known as Adventure Iland lots of rides near to the pier and close to the High Street. Trevor living 7 years now here
The Essex Riviera cannot be beaten when the sun is shining. There are beautiful walks all the way along the shoreline from Thorpe Bay all the way to Leigh on Sea. Plenty to see and do which is either relaxing or more strenuous depending on your mood plus exciting adventures at the funfair. So much to see and do for all the family.

Great place to stay. Really English style accommodation with a traditional flavour that is both quaint, welcoming and displays a sense of style that is difficult to find. Excellent restaurant and bar with good reasonably priced food. Great service by very friendly staff. Good size secure hotel car park. Very clean spacious and tidy rooms. Very stylish large bathroom and Colchester in Essex is a lovely place to visit. Definitely a great place to stay.

Lovely house and gardens; easily accessible location. Gracious hosts. Very comfortable room. Freshly prepared delicious breakfast. The village of Felstead is a very pleasant hub from which to explore this attractive corner of Essex and it is conveniently close to Stanstead. Laurels beats nearby airport hotels into a cocked hat!

The hotel was clean and well maintained - even though The Green Room Restaurant was in the process of being renovated. We were attending an Open Day at University of Essex and needed a parking permit printed which a member of the hotel staff did for us with a smile and no extra charge.

The overall feeling of Lifehouse Spa & Hotel was excellent. We had a very relaxing long weekend and enjoyed the facilities it provided. The pool was large and although we didn't use the steam room and other poolside facilities (for medical reasons) it all looked very good. The extensive gardens were a delight to walk round. The proximity to Frinton-on-Sea was good as it allowed us time to visit the coast and take in the sea air.

What a nice hotel! The room was clean and nicely decorated. the restaurant had nice period features, the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and not overpriced. Although I did not use the facilities I did have a look at the well equipped gym and the pool looked very attractive. This was one of the nicest places I've stayed and also one of the best value. I highly recommend this hotel.

We arrived too late to eat in the restaurant but we drive to get Pizza and Ice from a place nearby and the lovely bar lady waited for to come back so we could enjoy a pint of beer and a half of shandy as we ate our pizza in the bar area. The decor is lovely as I have come to expect from a Best Western. There is always a pleasant supersize in store in the interior design of best westerns.
