Colchester is a nice old town. Not too busy. I accompanied my daughter who studies at the University of Essex. Once you know the bus routes it is quiet convenient to travel around Colchester and the mini cabs are available should you need a cab.
I was in the area to actually visit the village of my ancestors in Messing, Essex.
This is a fantastic historical town in the UK. The friendly local people, delicious food and the quietness of a beautiful town make you don't wanna leave! A great place worth to have a visit! It's also the home of Essex University! Just spend more time here to enjoy the warmly sunshine, various kind of food and the peaceful atmosphere!
Chelmsford has a lot of historical places to visit and is building new shops and shopping centres it is becoming the place to go in Essex They have very good resturants and coffee shops and at some you do not feel rushed if you stay awhile
I live near Maldon and am well acquainted with it. It is an old Essex market town and has a lot of charm. Lots of places to eat and drink, and some lovely little shops. It also has an interesting history, if one cares to look into it.
Just another Essex city. Not much to do or visit. Plenty of McDonald's junk everywhere around the city though. They must really like this fast food there.
I was visiting my niece who is attending the University of Essex, and my visit was short, so didn't get to see as much of the area as I would have liked. It was a easy trip from train station to the University by bus. Also from bus to the main shopping area/dining area in Colchester. Would come back to spend a bit more time to see more local historical sites.
My daughter lives here. It is built on a hill with a church at the top and a river and antique centre at the bottom. It is an old market town with nice old building along the high street. It is unusual to have a hill in Essex. Well worth a visit.
It is me again Trevor for Visitors coming to Southend on sea Essex, I think when people go to a sea side resort in the england, they need to find a Fish and chip shop take away or eat in maybe having travelled a long distance because of so very much to see and do. When people have children they need some food to keep going, there is what is known as Adventure Iland lots of rides near to the pier and close to the High Street. Trevor living 7 years now here
The Essex Riviera cannot be beaten when the sun is shining. There are beautiful walks all the way along the shoreline from Thorpe Bay all the way to Leigh on Sea. Plenty to see and do which is either relaxing or more strenuous depending on your mood plus exciting adventures at the funfair. So much to see and do for all the family.
Harwich
Property is exactly as pictured and very clean and cozy. Absolutely love the hotel-quality bedding and towels, made the stay feel so luxurious and great value for money. Although located at the port where there might not be as many activities, it is reasonably close to many attractions like Clacton Pier and Essex. Everyone in my family kept saying they would miss the place once we left and honestly we do! The games available also made the nights we spent more fun for us! Would love to stay again! Definitely highly recommend it!
The room was very spacious and clean. Well equipped with good flatscreen TV, tea, coffee etc. great power shower. Bed was so comfortable. The Indian restaurant attached to the Hotel was really good. Breakfast is a lakeside location about a 5 minute walk from main Hotel. Prices at Hotel and Restaurant great for location. Considering just 10 minutes by train you are inside M25 the waterside location was so quiet and serine. We shall definitely stay again, and would consider it a great base to explore Herts, Essex and London.
Maldon
I could have easily stayed here for a week! Maldon is such a cute little town with a rich history, great little shops, pubs and places to eat. Plume Apartment is centrally located with a paid car park behind the small complex. Instructions to get in were uncomplicated. The apartment itself is spotlessly clean, fully self contained, and beautifully decorated. Although I didn’t get to meet the owners, they were in contact constantly. if you’re going to stay anywhere in Essex, then this is the place. exceptional!
The view over Halfpenny Pier towards the Shotley peninsula was superb, there was always activity on the rivers Stour and Orwell. The hotel is superbly placed for using the Pier to board a vessel due to journey up either of the rivers or along the Essex and Suffolk coastlines. Within Harwich there are a number of historic buildings and sites to be enjoyed. The menu in the restaurant was interesting, our selected meals were always beautifully cooked and presented.
I found the staff at the hotel to be really friendly and efficient. I'd recommend this hotel purely for this reason. Location was acceptable, plenty of food outlets close by. Rooms were acceptable given price paid. There was an issue with my booking - I'd booked 2 rooms, but only one was reserved on arrival. This was sorted out quickly with no fuss when I arrived. If I have another wedding to go to in Essex, I'll book here again. Thanks
Dedham
Beautiful village, good food, and especially friendly staff. Loved the cross between pub and hotel! Oh and the non regulation Tudor floors and walls, most relaxing stay for some time. Breakfast was excellent , and again the staff couldn't be more accommodating. If you wish to visit Essex,Suffolk or anywhere near, give it a go 😊😊
The hotel is set in the university of Essex grounds. But don’t let this put you off. The grounds and area are beautiful and very well kept. We enjoyed looking around and everyone is very friendly. One more thing. The postcode on booking.com is not correct! Please search the hotel online for the correct one
Booked a room at the very last minute, but was able to check in after 11pm and the receptionist was very welcoming. The room was lovely, as always, and toasty warm. This is one of my favourite hotels in Essex - clean, cosy, welcoming, great atmosphere in the pub/restaurant too.
This dog friendly Holel is a good standard, well maintained for it's age and offers great value breakfast. It's pleasant for the eye, has enough parking and it's a great base for visiting Essex. The pool is a great addition for families with kids.
Fabulous little hotel tucked away in a quiet part of Essex. A real gem of a find. The Cherry Pub next door serving great food with very friendly helpful staff. Really clean accommodation easy to collect the key from the pub next door.
Clean rooms and have everything you need. Staff are helpful and happy. You are getting a good stay for the money and I have paid a lot more to have a lot worse. Will be using this hotel for any future business trips into Essex
Braintree
ideal location, just outside Braintree in Essex. Perfect for a one to tonight stuff over all the facilities you require in the apartment would recommend this to anyone as is a quiet little sound, very relaxing.
The location was excellent and easy to find. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and my room was above expectations. This hotel will be my first choice when I next come to Essex to stay.
We had the takeaway breakfast as we had early flight. Was convenient for my daughter driving down from Manchester and me coming in by bus from Essex and us all meeting at the Airport Hotel.
Rubbish only hotel in Essex that blindly charges customers for staying there’s minimal restrictions to parking in Essex and they think they in a congestion zone absolute joke
Quiet, pleasant location convenient for Colchester and for touring Essex and Suffolk. Staff were pleasant and helpful but hotel is clearly understaffed
The hotel has good leisure facilities with long hours of access. The hotel is well situated for access to many destinations around Essex e.g. Lakeside.
Lovely character hotel. It was our anniversary and they very kindly upgraded us to a suite. Wonderful, down to earth staff. Great Essex hospitality.
Clacton-on-Sea
After spending a day at Clacton air show great hotel to unwind great Room shower brill bed woo super comfy an essex gem hotel
It was very Essex! Super comfortable and stylish and had everything you’d want from a hotel.
