We loved the little shops and pubs, the calmness of the Scilly Isles and the honesty of everything. Being in Hugh Town felt like going back in time to when shops didn't have to lock up expensive items and alcohol. Everyone in the shops was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Going off peak meant it was nice & quiet.
Going off peak meant it was nice & quiet. Plenty to watch down at the quay & hotels & bars ooen wihout the queues. Very friendly community. Recommend the Mermaid Inn & Tregarthen's Hotel for food, also the Atlantic but a bit more basic. Star Castle the best though for atmosphere & food. Recommend the Island Tour from Holgate Green - amusing & interesting.Guest review byCaroline - 8.0

Pleasant small town with a good range of pubs and eating places. Reasonable but fairly limited range of shops. Easy access to quay side and boats to the other islands on the Isles of Scilly.
