This charming hotel overlooks historic surroundings, The Royal Hotel and Bar provides comfortable, modern rooms with attached bathroom. We really loved our stay at The Royal and it exceeded all of our expectations. We stayed in the Stable Block and the room was clean and really well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the linens were good quality. Also, it was a nice touch with a variety of regular, soy, and oat milks in the room's coffee station. The hotel is well located close to the center of the old town and has a lovely pub garden attached to the main bar. What really made our review a "10" was the service we received. The person who checked us in, served us our drinks, and later found us some plates and cutlery so we could eat our takeaway food in the pub garden was incredibly friendly and helpful. She made us feel completely at home and relaxed - just what we needed after arriving in a completely new town after a long day's drive. If we make it back to Lancaster we will definitely stay at the Royal again and we'll be recommending it to all of our friends!

Perfect spot for a break from hours on motorways (M4, M5, M6 and on to Scotland). It's a few miles down some country lanes off the M6, but a world away from noise and bustle. Old building, carefully renovated. Room was small but more than adequate. Best bathroom in the UK. Seriously. We had dinner and stayed over night, but it would also be an excellent lunch break spot as food was excellent. Plan to return!

We are in the middle of a valley.
We are in the middle of a valley. surrounded by green hills and many interesting walks. We are also very close to good shopping towns and only 20 miles north of Manchester which is a great city. Although we do get our fair share of inclement weather, when the sun shines it is very picturesque. we did have a textile museum very close by but with the cuts this has had to close. Sad but true a lot of amenities are being lost to us. However if you know where to look there is a great deal of history around this area and we are also not far from the Ribble Valley and Lancashire Witch Country. There are also plenty of mill shop outlets if you are looking for a bargain.

The staff is very friendly. We arrived early, 2 hours before check-in and the room was already ready. The hotel is very clean. The room was daily tidy and clean up. The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire) and to Preston city center. I recommend this hotel especially to parents who come to visit their children, students at UCLAN, as is our case.

This hotel is a gem. I came from the US for a conference and was so happy with the facility. My room was roomy and spotless. A big white duvet and big pillows. There is a desk, wardrobe, and a large bath. The tub is deep enough to swim in!! I did not understand how to use the radiator, they were super fast and efficient in solving my dilemma. Meals were delicious, for the conference there were three choices of meat, salads, fruit, and desserts. Able to manage several hundred people move thru effortlessly. There is a coffee shop in the hotel, and a full bar. The lobby was inviting and I used it all weekend to interact with others. Oh, and affordable!! And on a tram line, so that I was easily riding up and down the line to sight see and shop. I hope I have the chance to return.
