The staff were so welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The Crown Inn, is well located and is very charming. An excellent combination of traditional with a modern twist. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast. We stayed in room 17 which was on the top floor and had beautiful views of the lake. All in all, our stay was everything we could have wished for and we will definitely be back.

Penrith is a beautiful little town. I arrived via bus from London. The accomodation was easy to walk to from the train station. I was met so kindly at check in. After a long bus ride and still struggling from jet lag, I had the most amazing sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the area is so peaceful. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. It was a very lovely stay. They were able to assist me with any questions, very accomodating.

A bit disappointed with Penrith.

A bit disappointed with Penrith. For a town in Cumbria it was quite scruffy. We arrrive on a saturday afternoon. Lots of litter n the streets. Off the main streets the buildings seemed run down, with litter, and 'unkept'. The council were out picking up litter in the main square at 030am Sunday morning, so that helps. Only a couple of pubs we found that were worth visiting...or you'd want to visit?

You need to approach tbe farm from the South down near the main Penrith Keswick rd. The weather wasn't good during our visit but the decking has a BBQ which would have been fantastic. There's a Lama farm and great Cafe with farm shop just across the main road about a mile away.

A small village - but very near to the M6 so easy access to a beautiful part of the lakes. The pub is a great traditional pub - we had a few drinks after walking before we had dinner at our accommodation. Very friendly. Beautiful countryside and no through traffic. Easy to get to Pooley Bridge or along Ullswater. Close to 3 smaller Wainwrights as well for those wanting to climb a bit higher. Aira Force is very close and makes a great walk - around 2 hours or so to the top of Gowbarrow via the falls - wonderful for a picnic lunch! Loads to explore from here - one visit just isn't enough!

A fairly typical market town.

A fairly typical market town. Some interesting local food, craft and art'sy shops. The remains of the castle were interesting to visit. Parking is very spread about over the town and can be quite expensive. We had lunch at Stock Deli and Social. It was delicious! There's a Wetherspoons for cheap drinks. Always a bonus. People were generally friendly and helpful. We ate in the evening at Raj curry house. Vegetable thali type dishes were amazing.

The hotel was lovely and in a terrific spot on the river with lots of outdoor seating for a sunny day. The room was cosy not a lot of surfaces to put your case or other stuff. The bathroom was a good size but again nowhere to put your toiletries. There wasn't even space for the hand soap dispenser! It all feels newly decorated and is in good condition. The staff are very efficient and friendly. Dinner was lovely although the fish pie while tasty, was mostly potato. Breakfast was delicious, there were plenty of choice options. It was all table service. There wasn't much to the little town but we didn't really have time to explore. We found out after securing the booking that there was no parking. We might have chosen something else if we'd realised sooner. There was nothing else available other than across the bridge which was another £9. That was the only negative. We probably wouldn't stay again but only for that reason. It's a great Inn!

The local store was warm and friendly and for a village store exceptionally well stocked. The Queen's head across the road charged £23 for two drinks then at 9pm called it quits for the evening and hurried us up to leave, cleaning around us, cashing up then setting up for breakfast. Doors slammed and bolted by 9.45pm. Woken early by dog walkers enjoying the village.
