We stayed for just one night but thoroughly enjoyed both our stay and the beautiful city. The experience was very pleasant — the staff were warm and welcoming, everything was clean and comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Stepping outside, we found ourselves right in the heart of stunning Winchester. The cathedral is just across the street, set on a charming square lined with linden trees. A short stay, but truly memorable

I was really tired when I arrived after a long drive, The receptionist on the desk was truly lovely and helped me with my bags to my room. Room was on the second floor and was big and comfortable Lovely view of the lake. I used the pool which was lovely and quiet. The food at breakfast was excellent. Lovely business stay.

One of the best hotel spas we've been to in England! The place is really well maintained, has all the charms of yesteryears but the conveniences of today. I especially enjoyed the pool, wish I could've swam more! The food was also really lovely, haven't seen a delicious breakfast spread like that in ages.

The hotel location was perfect for exploring Arundel. The size of our room was WAY bigger than expected (probably the biggest room I've ever had in Europe!), the staff was very accommodating and helpful. The hotel itself was charming and had a good atmosphere that felt cosy.

We didn't spend much time in Lewes as we were attending a 50th wedding anniversary at the Southdown Sports Club. The White Hart was a good hotel although we were in room 18 which was on the top floor with no lift and we are in our mid-70's The only disappointment was the breakfast offering. The main course, full English was excellent but no fruit or cereal was available before the main course. Therefore the price of £284 for 1 night B&B was expensive for what we got. However, the location of the hotel was fine.

Poco Osteria in Alfriston was amazing, incredible pasta and lovely staff. The hotel pool was lovely and a good temperature. Food was all good. Staff were all lovely, particularly the reception ladies. There is a lovey walk down to Seaford and it is then an easy train ride to Brighton.

Pleasant town centre with lovely market square. Good range of shops and not many empty ones. Some decent restaurants but could do with a couple more up-market ones. Lovely, quirky, second-hand bookshop.

Access to the beach is not too difficult for someone whose joints creak a bit. A long slope with hand rail is helpful. Our sunny but bracing walk along the prom was enlivened by cheerful visitors and dogs . The outdoor cafe afforded shelter from the wind and good coffee. After 2 hours we walked slowly into the village and were charmed by the buildings and quirky shops, the Grange library and art gallery, duck pond and church with Burne Jones windows. We found very clean toilets inside the church too. Thanks for this.We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rottingdean.

Newhaven itself seems more of a working town than a touristy town, the main focus is the harbour and from what I was told, a lot of people stay there simply for access to the ferry to go to france. But, its a good base for going exploring the area surrounding. You can walk to seaford which is more touristy, near to seaford is the seven sisters cliffs which is a hike to get to, but worth it. Newhaven has some good walks, you can walk along the charles coastal path to peacehaven quite easily, there is a spot between the two that is marked on googhle maps as "giant ammonites" where there are/were fossilized ammonites when the tide is out, but when I looked I either missed them or they have worn away Nearby is the town of lewes which was a nice town, has a castle/museum, abandoned priory ruins for the history buffs, and is nice to walk around. you can stay on the train in lewes to go to brighton if that is your thing, Brighton for me a little too hectic of a place For me personally one thing I liked was that there was a skatepark in newhaven, a skatepark in seaford, a skatepark in lewes, a skatepark in peacehaven, and as someone whose ridden a board for 30 years it was nice to check out some fresh parks. Overall it is a nice place if you want a laid back holiday and dont need a big itenary

Petworth House (owned by the National Trust) has one of the biggest and best collections of art and sculpture in England. Its car park is 10 minutes walk away, but you can use it also to walk out into the interesting old town/village, which has hardly any parking: the ticket for the House allows you to come back in again. The House has a big deer park with lake, with big views, which you should allow an hour or two to walk around, and have tea and cake when you get back.
