Maria is an absolute joy as a host. She is friendly, but also offers space. The room is basic and very clean and a great location being a 5 minute drive into Kalavryta proper. Each morning we were greeted with a FULL homemade breakfast on the patio overlooking the mountains and main town. Breakfast included spinach pies, eggs, meats, fruits, yogurt, coffee, juices, pastries. Absolute best breakfast we have had in Greece. This breakfast would cost at least 15 Euro per person if in a taverna in town. Kalavryta has a rich history and this town is worth visiting to pay respects to all the Kalavrytans have endured and overcome. Visitors should be mentally prepared to stand on the grounds, now a memorial site identifiable with a large cross visible from afar, where approximately 700 men aged 13-88 were executed by Nazi occupiers in December 1943. This can be difficult to digest regardless of how much you may read about the atrocities prior to arrival. Assured there are still some elderly townsfolk alive who were witness to this tragedy as very young people. The Kalavrytan Holocaust Museum is also well planned and moving. Other highlights in the area for us were the 2 main monasteries. Another couple that stayed at Aphrodite's Inn hiked the rail track, which can be viewed on All Trails, and were equally impressed. The town has a neighborhood feel. Families out and about at and after the dinner hours. The food, as we have found with many mountain villages in Greece, is excellent. Without the label, very farm-to-table. Maria made some excellent suggestions for dinner locations. Kalavryta is an excellent place to visit for 1-3 days, longer if during winter for regional skiing. Aphrodite's Inn is a great place to call home.

Lovely staff. Loved the dogs! And cats and animals. We made great family memories with the little ones. Breakfast was nice and cosy with a fire going and nice selections. The water in our room was also scorching hot which was great.

The entire staff is super friendly and super helpful with anything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable. Having a fireplace in our room was amazing! The shower was awesome. Plenty of hot water & strong pressure. The breakfast is amazing. Plenty of variety and the ladies who work the breakfast are super nice. The location is perfect. It is very close to the city center and has easy access to skiing!

It was off-season so the pool was not open. The room was very comfortable. I enjoyed an hot shower after hiking on the Peloponnese Way. There was a fabulous breakfast buffet in the morning. The staff was very helpful in coordinating a taxi for me to continue my journey.

The town is a tourist base.

The town is a tourist base. Not particularly interesting or pleasant. We only went for the railway trip, but unfortunately it was cancelled on the two days we were there, due to falling rocks on the line. This doesn't happen very often apparently...we were just unlucky. There are cave lakes to visit but we didn't do that.The car journey to the town is wonderful both ways - from Dimitsana and Diakopto.

Lovely town with wide spaces, friendly people and some compelling history attached to it from the Holocaust and the Greek Independence . Great meal at a local restaurant that was delicious and very traditional. Unfortunately it is difficult to get around without a car and taxis are way too expensive. To get to Ayia Lavra which is 4 kms away they wanted 20 euro up and back. In the end we didn't go to any monastery. They should have buses that go up and back, at least during the tourist season

Kalavrita is a gorgeous town with lots of Greek History...

Kalavrita is a gorgeous town with lots of Greek History important sites, amazing nature walks and hike, lovely very affordable food and welcoming people. Even if you don't ski, as it is known for the ski resort, there are lots of things to enjoy. I will definitely revisit as 3 days at Kalavrita were barely enough.
