My Mam and I came for a night for my Birthday and we had a wonderful time. The outdoor pool and hot tub was amazing. Dinner was exceptional. We spent a cosy night int he bar with an open fire and slept so very well. Then started our next day with a delicious breakfast. I could not fault the place in the slightest.

Clifden is known as the Capital of Connemara.

Clifden is known as the Capital of Connemara. As a wonderful "Old Ireland" town it represents the warmth, friendliness and beauty of Connemara. The local pubs are lively, full of chat and serve good food. Obtaining a seat in a pub or restaurant was a challenge the second week in August when we visited. One restaurant "Oifig an Fish" had even ran completely out of food ! A good complaint for them. Or, if you like fast food there is a very good one out the Galway road. Shopping for food or necessities was easy. There is a Supervalu, Aldi and Lidl supermarket. There were even showers available for anyone who needed them. the first time I ever saw a sign for showers in any town. A lovely town to walk around with a library, museum fine shops, bars, restaurants, accommodation and very friendly people.

Beautiful location in connemara.

Beautiful location in connemara. One of the most beautiful in my experience of the world. Wild nature accessible to all. We went hiking, fishing, camping and staying in hotels none of which disappointed. The village has ample cafe / pubs and there is the sheep and wool shop / museum. We didn't visit the museum but browsed in the shop for a while which was very pleasant. Also visited the Leenaun hotel which was also very pleasant

So beautiful area. People so polite and welcoming. Always somewhere near to visit each day local walking ares and beaches etc. Life is so cool and laid back which is just the holiday we needed. Great for fishing in local lakes and rivers. Connemara is not far from here with is filled with beaches and sights to see. Always a nice we bar or restaurent on hand should you fell the need for a we meal or glass of wine. Really highly recommended place to travel.
