Guwahati is a major commercial center and the capital of Assam. The downtown areas are crowded and bustling. I hired a car with driver for a day to visit half a dozen temples and other historic and religious sites within the city (on the south side of the Brahmaputra River) and in rural areas north of river. The trip was enjoyable, inexpensive, and very worthwhile.

Kamakhya temple, the famous temple is situated here which attracts a lots of visitors and tourists from abroad as well as India. One can taste the very rich Assamese culture and tradition of Assamese people as well as people from whole north east India here. Mighty River The Brahmaputra flows through Guwahati which gives a very enchanting panoramic view of the city. Guwahati, the capital of the state of Assam is just like any other city. The beautiful view of the river Brahmaputra and adjoining small hills give the city a beautiful natural view. There is nothing much to see except for the Kamakhya temple and the final resting place of famous singer Bhupen Hazarika.

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway or while exploring Majuli. I had great time with host Jahnu. Traditional bamboo stay will give you different experience. He took me to place where Play practice was happening, which gave me the good glimps of Tradition in Assam and introduced me to some amazing stories of Mahabharat. Food and Tea both are dammmn good. Host was friendly and open minded. Definitely would love to visit again.

You have the option to have a delicious Assamese home cooked meal in the evenings and I also rented a bike to explore for the day. It is peaceful and has a beautiful garden.
