I enjoyed my stay very much. The hostess, Francesca, is very warm and engaging. On my first night, after returning from dinner in Gerace, I found the hostesses family outdoors enjoying the evening on their lovely patio. I sat down with them and we talked for an hour and had a grappa and great conversation. That night I found that my bed was the most comfortable that I have slept in in all of my time in Italy. The next morning I had a wonderful breakfast on the terrace enjoying the Bella Vista, which overlooks the coastal towns + the Sea. I found myself wishing that I had booked several more nights.

My paternal grandfather's parents came from Cittanova, so I...

My paternal grandfather's parents came from Cittanova, so I was interested to see my ancestral homeland. Everyone in the city was extremely nice. The food was great and the cost of everything was very reasonable. Most of the residents spoke very little English. With the little bit of Italian that I know and the translation app on my phone, I was able to communicate quite well.

it is an interesting, scenic hill town with a famous old cathedral now undergoing a major renovation that has closed it to visitors and it looks like it will remain closed for a long time, and it is the major attraction to the town other than its location perched high above the sea.
