Chalet Saint-Barthélemy Hotel really exceeded our expectations. It is a small family-run hotel in a tiny village where you have to get by driving a long and twisty mountainous road. The views on the mountains around are amazing, and it is very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in a very nice room -- big windows, comfortable bed (I asked for extra pillows and these were provided instantly!), the bathroom is large and comfortable. Enough space to store luggage, clothes, equipment etc. Nice touches in the room, some handmade furniture items (like bedside table made of wood slabs), overall simple but cosy interiors where you can truly feel very relaxed. Outside the building there is a terrace with tables/chairs/deck chars where you can enjoy the sun and relax with a coffee / cold beer / aperitivo. The long drive to the village is totally worth it. Its super quiet in the evenings, you can walk around the village, there is observatory, and you can also be rewarded with amazing views of the stars in the night sky. Separately I would like to mention that you can book dinner in the hotel's resturaunt, and its really really good. We had tasting menu with a lot of local traditional dishes. The restaraunt uses only local produce from local farmers/producers, which is always great to see. The wine selections is also good. The hosts are lovely people, very friendly, happy to help and explain everything. Thank you for making our stay perfect, we will definitely come back.

WHAT A PLACE! The setting, the hotel, the rooms, the staff and OH the Food! Just 5 minutes off the autostrada A5 at Saint Vincent it’s set in the mountains next to a beautiful fast flowing river which sings you to sleep! Although we booked the cheapest room with the pullout bed we slept the best of any of the hotels on our 10 day trip from the UK to Italy! Make sure you book the restaurant too! The wild boar ragu dish is to die for! The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Hugo greeted us in the car park and escorted us and showed us around the property and room. The restaurant staff were full of information and the whole place has a sense of pride.

The owner was amazing in sorting out everything for our group including non-pork menus. She could not do any more for the whole group and there were 17 of us including children and it reminded me that you get your customer service ride and people will keep coming and I just wanted to take the time to say a big thanks again too the Owner for making our stay the most comfortable. Worth noting that the half board is very good. The dinner is exceptional and changes every day with high-quality food served.

The breakfast, the food in general was delicious, but absolutely the best thing was the personnel. They all were so helpful, polite and thoughtful: Always one step ahead. Then for us Finns, the sauna with iki-kiuas was offcourse the ultimate experience. There is hardly never a sauna this good outside of Finland. Loved it.

The place is very beautiful, the cabins are great and fully equiped. The beds are amazing, the heat is perfect for the space. Like everything in Aosta valley, is very neccesary to go by car. The people working there are very helpful and awesome.

I have known this resort for over 20 years.

I have known this resort for over 20 years. The height and location means you can enjoy skiing all year round and access to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise ski area at almost 4000m means this resort will have great quailty snow for many years to come. Excellent to see the new investment into the town. Cervinia and Zermatt will always be my favourite resort and I hope to return for another 20years!!

A nice rustic Italian ski resort. It is great to be able to ski from Valtournenche to Zermatt and Cervinia. The only negative point is that it is not a pedestrian resort; in my opinion, a car is essential.

Small town with a couple of decent restaurants. Good sized supermarket which stocked most things. Overall a good location to base from if you are ok to go up and down the valley and don't want to be in Cervinia with the crowds !

an old skiing village which used to be very popular, nowadays it is preferable for families and kids. The slopes are nice, the cafes and restaurants are very good on the mountain. It is very safe for skiing/snowboarding. If you are looking for apres ski parties, Torgnon is not right place. But if you are looking for a calm mountain holiday with family and do skiing all day, it is the right place.

Nice little village with lovely people and a couple of nice...

Nice little village with lovely people and a couple of nice places to eat in the day and early evening. The shop was open most of the week and had a good range even though it was small. There was plenty of parking in the carpark for our car (and a great price for the week) at the bottom of the cable car which ran every half an hour from 7:30am to 10:30pm. Good value tickets for the two of us for 10 rides each which is all we needed for our week's holiday. The walks from Chamois were really lovely although quite hard going up and down the mountains which were quite steep but worth the views from the top. In season you can get a chair lift but we liked the challenge!! One week was plenty for us, we had a fab time and glad it wasn't too hot for our walks.

It is a lovely typical alpine village.

It is a lovely typical alpine village. Supermarket hard to find. Nice bars and restaurants and good apres ski right at the bottom of the slopes. Lots of steps, escalators and lugging of skis to get on main gondola. Long queues at the chair lifts/gondolas everywhere especially first thing in the morning. Good variety of slopes for intermediate skiers. Resort is high so has very little shelter so can be windy and exposed but is pretty snow sure especially late in the season. Some lovely tourist shops to browse in. Easy access to Zermatt but link is closed quite often because of the weather and you could get caught unable to return to Cervinia.

Cosy Italian village with shops /ski rental / hotels and a few bars . Cheaper alternative to Cervinia or Zermatt. Ski lifts connect to the Cervinia ski area but it does take over an hour to get there on long slow lifts .

It is a cute little ski resort best for the family with small children or beginner skier. There were less people on weekdays so we did not wait for a lift at all. Driving 30-40mins you can get to the Cervino ski paradise. You will find the hotel much cheaper in Torgnon. There are a small supermarket and few restaurants in a village but if you have a car, in 10 mins drive you will find many options.

I loved Valtournenche!

I loved Valtournenche! This is a small to medium village in the mountains. Lovely atmosphere when walking through the village. Tourist Information Centre for the village and surrounding area available. Plenty of restaurants /cafes to choose from and even a cheese factory! I hate large crowds so Valtournenche was perfect size for me : )
