Was super lucky to find a last-minute offer (booked on the same day) for a last-minute weekend escape and found this gem in Lana. Located almost in the center but not exactly in the middle (avoided the crowd, although in this season there was almost none). Restaurants and caffes within walking distance, and a couple of minutes walking away from the cable car that brings you to good altitude where there are different pathways to walk (we came to walk so this was a huge plus for us). Our room was clean and comfortable, beautiful view of the mountains from the windows. Owners are super kind and available. Fresh options available for breakfast (I'm not for salty breakfasts in general but they do wonderful scrambled eggs). Price are on the higher end but it came with good value.

We loved all the facilities - the heated indoor pool, heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi and what a view from the pool and jacuzzi. There's a sauna, big warm relaxation room looking at the mountains opposite. Very nice selection for breakfast and the afternoon tea that's served between 2pm-6pm is excellent too. Sweet and savoury offerings. We enjoyed the dinner selections too. 4 courses including the salad starter which had a huge selection.

This charming old-world European gem, surrounded by enchanting gardens, exudes timeless elegance. The rooms are wonderfully spacious with high ceilings, creating an atmosphere of comfort and grace. Breakfast was an absolute delight – fresh, beautifully prepared, and served with genuine warmth on the terrace overlooking the valley. The South Tyrolean specialties, including a variety of fruit compotes, were exceptional, and the coffee with warm milk, served in elegant silverware, added a touch of sophistication. My only very small suggestion (which in no way detracts from the superior experience) would be to provide a firmer, thicker pillow option in the room, as the current ones were a bit too soft for my personal preference. But again. I understand this is a personal preference. Everything else was simply perfect. 👌

The VIEWS!!! Outstanding.. Beautiful calm retreat. Great breakfasts and dining. Lovely friendly staff. Room Balcony. Very comfortable bed and dark room made for a great sleep and rest. The Fantastic massage by Philomena. The infinity pool. But we would have liked it to be warmer like the pools in the other places we stayed (Adler and Lefay ) esp as was cold outside when we were there.

Incredible hotel for getting away. The property is beautiful, the spa is really nice, and the staff are very attentive. The access to hiking was great – we did an amazing hike through the snow right outside of the property. We were a little nervous about only having access via cable car, but it ended up being super easy to get around. Overall we loved our stay!

There is a lot to do in Merano, rain or shine. Of course, there are the local & famous walkways, the mountain hikes, bike trails, and the Dolomites are nearby. On rainy days, there are castles, the Terme spa/pools. Overall, it's a very nice town with a lot to do.

I found a peaceful sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Avelengo's serene surroundings and tranquility provided the perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. A lovely little place with great amenities and activities...

A lovely little place with great amenities and activities for all. It is best known for it's hiking/walking paths, but it is also a bit of a mecca for cyclists. It caters for all levels so is great for all. You can go hang-gliding, horse riding, rafting. There is something for everyone.

(Not so) small village close to Merano with beautiful mountains around and less tourists. Great for a short stay. A few restaurants and caffes in the center (too bad most were closed for holiday at the time that we were there). Small ski station, some beautiful winter paths reachable with a funivia, depends on how much you'd like to walk. Merano (and other cities) are easily reachable by car or public transports.

Schenna is a beautiful town high on the mountainside above...

Schenna is a beautiful town high on the mountainside above Meran. The views over Meran and the valley to mountains and the Alps are stunning. The town has restaurants, a cafe and bars. In summer, you can begin hiking from town or drive further up the mountain to beautiful trails of every level of difficulty. In winter, you can take the cable car to the ski resort of Meran 2000.

It's one of those villages that "gets" to you.

It's one of those villages that "gets" to you. The village itself has very narrow streets (thankfully, many are one way only as some only barely fit one car) but the surrounding area offers plenty of hiking trails and the local waterfall, which is rather impressive. Plus this is one of THE wine and fruit growing regions in Southern Tyrol so there are plenty of locally grown foods available and I highly recommend stopping at the many stalls in the area that sell those products.

5 days in avalegno would have been enough but we had 2 of those days travelling. So recommended time is 5 - 7 days for people like us who do not like to Jam Pack their days. Its is beautifully scenic and well maintained. Take note that the botanic gardens are closed in winter. Aditionally whilst places advertise the availability of renting all ski gear, no one rents snow shoes, pants or jackets, so plan to bring your own so as not to miss out on the fun.

The village is small but well equipped with all the amenities. It's also within a 30-45 minute walk to Merano, either via the higher pathway (i.e. the Algunder Waalweg) or via lower streets.
