Florence is a really beautiful city. It exceeds your expectation in every way possible. With historical see sights, billions of cozy restaurants and cafes (I especially love the one near the Duomo: fancy looking two floored caffe with the best risotto and cappuccino I’ve ever tried in Italy). But before goin to have a true Italian dinner I hardly recommend climbing the bell tower of Santa Maria Del Fiore and going to piazza Michelangelo to enjoy the city from above. After a day of walking the ancient streets drinking a glass of Tuscany wine and eating perfect Italian sweets will be heavenly
An amazingly preserved small medieval city. It was relatively quiet being the off-season (March), and I hear it’s quiet busy with tourists during the summer. Coming from the U.S., we don’t have architecture this old, or if this type, so it’s quite fascinating. Worth a stop while going through Tuscany, but recommend coming here before going to Siena.
Terricciola is a beautiful small town, witha beautiful view over Tuscany hills. As it is so small there is mot many reataurant nor cafe choices, but you do really feel the Italian dolce vita there 😊
It was very crowded on the streets and in the shops and restaurants. But the city is compact enough to see most of the sites in a day. Museum visits could have taken up another two days. We took a wine tour in Tuscany that included three vineyards and a meal/tastings at each. Fantastic visit, beautiful city. We crossed the river to find quiet restaurants and were so pleased with the food.
Montaione is a little beautiful town right in the middle of Tuscany. Very quite place that offers a variety of Restaurants and bars. Perfect stay if you are looking for peace!!!
One of my favorite towns in Tuscany. This place has it all which makes Tuscany great; amazing food, great wine, a night life and a Duomo. There is one of the best cocktail bars (plus a great view) down the right side walking path facing the Duomo (Idyllium).
Wonderful hilltown that is worth spending a full day. The shops and restaurants are wonderful. The views of the valley and surrounding hills are spectacular! It is a must visit when touring Tuscany.
It is a 20 minute train ride from Florence. Train stop from Florence to Siena. Right on the Florence Pisa highway. Lovely small town easy to get around. Grocery stores and restaurants convenient. Great location to tour all of Tuscany.
Our stay at Campiglia d'Orcia was perfect. It is a hidden house in the middle of Tuscany that offers breathtaking views and privacy from other tourists. But it is close enough to a lot of wonderful sights and towns. The home is very quaint and has lovely decorations that make it feel very authentic. It is very clean and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed walking around the farm and checking out all of the fruit trees. The couple that owns the farm were so accommodating and helpful, they made our stay even better! My only complaint is that we only stayed for three days, and not more!
There are a lot of reasons Monte San Savino is a great place to stay. The location is great, it has enough stuff here for the essentials, supermarket, salon, individual little specialty shops, etc. Its also 15 minutes drive from Arrezzo and 1 hour from Florence if you want to see this sights. The biggest detraction for some people will be the lack of English speakers. So learn some simple italian to go about yout life. Definitely learn some foods so you can order from the menu, its worth it, it really is. This town is pure Tuscany and it really lets you experience it. There are no tourist traps or people bothering you all the time like in Rome, Milan, or Florence. Its just quiet, peaceful, beautiful Tuscany. Food recommendations are La Terrasse (dual italian/english menu), Lo Stroncapane (Pici is a dish local to the Arrezzo and Siena provinces and its amazing with garlic sauce or Ragu), Arte Dolce out by the supermarket is fabulous for pastries and espresso. Rent a car, its not so bad driving around here, but if you go into florence, park somewhere south of the Arno and walk or uber around. If youre American or Canadian driving in Florence will be quite a shock.
Montalcino
Firstly the staff - they were incredibly friendly and attentive and were able to arrange a return taxi to Montalcino town at very short notice. You are about 10 minute drive from Montalcino and looking out over break-taking views across Tuscany. The pool is amazing and looks out over the breathtaking views. The Hotel itself has a vineyard with extremely high quality Brunello, and the rooms are fitted with special wine fridges with all the best wine from the Hotel vineyard. The room itself was really spacious and had an amazing bathroom!
Siena
This has to be our most favorite property we have ever stayed at. Julianna and Simone are amazing and run the best B&B! You feel like family here. The property itself is beautiful from the pristine grounds to the thoughtful internal decorations. We had an amazing time relaxing on the property and taking a short drive into Sienna. This is the perfect location for a Tuscany trip and I recommend anyone to book it without hesitation. You will find no better place, and we have done our fair share of traveling around Italy!
The free parking and the hotel's location just inside the city's walls made Hotel Athena a great choice for us during our Tuscany vacation. The hotel is a very short walk into the center of Siena, and the free parking made it easy for us to drive to other cities like Volterra, Pienza, Montepulciano, and San Gimignano. Tamara at the front desk was especially helpful, and the dining room staff for both dinner and breakfast were also wonderful. If we return to Siena, the only choice for us will be Hotel Athena!!
Basic hotel, but very clean and quiet. The location was just perfect. Close to the beach and to the town center. I walked everywhere, including the train station. I used Follonica as a base for day trips in this area. My favorite was Massa Marittima, a charming medieval town easily reached by bus. The bus terminal in Follonica is in front of the train station. I felt safe in Follonica and, as a female solo traveler, this is very important. I recommend Hotel Ausonia and this part of Tuscany.
Hotel is really nice and it has a modern style you can see it's been recently renewed. Staff is very friendly and gentle even during rush hours. There is a nice little pool on the rooftop where you can hang on at no additional price. Breakfast is good and they provide plenty of food for the guests untill closing. Room is spacious and bathroom is fancy and beautiful. It's a pleasurable stay next to all commodities in a little Tuscany town with a spectacular old historic centre.
Very nice and cosy hotel in with gorgeous view at Tuscany. Situated among olive groves and vineyards it’s so relaxing and peaceful I would recomend anyone seeking refuge from a buisy life. Hotel also offers typical tuscan food for lunch or dinner at resanoble price. Vine lovers can also try a good range of vines and other liquors. They also produce their own vine and olive oil. There is also nice pool and it is nice additoin to the offer especially if you come with children.
This is my third time to stay with the Genovese family in 10 years. I always wonder if I have stayed somewhere before if their standards have lessened. I’m pleased to say the Hotel Capitano group of hotels and their restaurant are holding even loftier standards than before. This time I was traveling alone, but in the past have had a + one. It’s also a very romantic spot. For the hustle and bustle of Tuscany San Q is rather quiet….it makes it a very desirable spot.
Our stay at Hotel La Pace definitely exceeded our expectations. Location is perfect for a 15min walk to train station to explore Tuscany, but also right next to the beach promenade full of shops and restaurants, all open till late. Our room faced the road/beach but still we had no problems with noise. AC was a huge plus. Breakfast was tasty and typical continental. Staff was super nice and helpful providing us with all information we needed (thanks Max!)
Everything was fine. The room was very clean, the breakfast very good. Also the dinner at night left nothing to desire. The Hotel is very well situated to a lot of beautiful places in Tuscany and even though it is directly at a Strada Provinciale (which makes travel by car very easy), the small amount of traffic does not distract the place. The building is very nice and dates back to 1791, has a wonderful view over the landscape and also a very nice pool.
We had a late night arrival flight into Pisa with young kids and needed somewhere close to the airport before touring Tuscany by hire car the next morning. The Hotel room was massive! Its the best laid out family room I have ever stayed in. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times. Breakfast for 4 of us was only €20 extra…€5 each! And it was good!! Great Hotel. Would definitely recommend and stay again for the purposes required
Cortona
Amazing place, with an old vibe to it that goes with the town and its surroundings. A perl lost in the magic of central Italy. The staff was exceptionally helpful, caring and thoughtful. Totally recommend it if you’re looking for a place central both to Umbria and Tuscany, Cortona, from the top of its promontory is a gem of history and character. Thank you Casa Franci for the amazing experience, we’ll be back.
Manciano
wonderful breakfast at the time of good morning. It was what I expected. An Italian treatment so, I am extremely satisfied to have chosen the Borgovera for my stay. I recommend for the excellent continental breakfast, and the territory. Tuscany is wonderful. Great Hotel, and rooms are comfortable and gorgeous. I recommend sleeping when the temperature is warm, you can use the pool. See you soon Richard
Beautiful property immersed in the culture and life of Lucca .. it is a haven and yet a small step into the heart of this incredible town in Tuscany, Italy..... the breakfast was an experience... we went to a Puccini concert and a classical concert during our two nights, so we didn’t get to enjoy the dinner .... everything looked first class..the receptionist and staff were charming and helpful ...
Very helpful staff. Gulia (Julia) the receptionist is great, you cannot have better. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the centre of Volterra, a city that offers great Tuscany food and wine. Rooms very comfortable and clean and also, Sky TV is offered in the rooms. Wi-Fi service is great. Great breakfast Hotel is quite close to the Car Park No. 6. Highly recommended
Cozy little hotel in the old part of town. The hotel was only a stone throw away from the river and the train station. Therefore, it was a great starting point for sightseeing in Pisa and daytrips to other parts of Tuscany. The hotel was cozy and clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I definitely would stay at Hotel Bologna again on my next trip to Pisa.
The location and the property were ae idyllic = just the kind of place one wishes for a relaxed holiday while exploring Tuscany. The Manager and the staff are perfect gracious hosts. Of all the places we stayed at in Italy, this was the best by a wide margin. For me, this was the ideal holiday getaway. Would love to go back to Hotel Il Pietreto again and again.
Hotel is located in a quiet area relaxing atmosphere close to thermal baths. 20 minute drive to most touristic sites in Tuscany. Great location and price. Services includes breakfast. Dinner is served every night at a nominal fee. Staff is very friendly and honest. They go out of their wat to help you out. Hotel has a free parking a big bonus.
My partner and I had the most marvellous time at Hotel Villa San Lucchese. The amazing dinners spent overlooking the stunning views of Tuscany was such a treat. The absolute biggest bonus however was the super friendly staff who was so helpful and service-minded at all times. Great location with easy access by train. Recommend to all!
This place is an amazing, restful oasis in Tuscany. We will be sure to stay here again. It was truly a magical experience. Their food was some of the best we experienced while in Italy (be sure to catch the al fresco dinner). The staff, the grounds, the views, the rooms---all were amazing. One of the best hotels I have ever been to.
Hotel equiped with different very designed - things: like lamps, paintings and furniture whole around. Breakfast more reach compare with other hotels in Tuscany, also breakfast staff was always in room and keep everything full and ready. Reception staff could be more hospitality oriented and do not know all of them english.
