A particular highlight was this property's onsen baths - not just a lovely experience, but also wonderfully well-supported by staff, with amenities galore (even a shampoo bar!). Beautiful views, doable access thanks to the shuttle to the train station, and spacious rooms. Only wish I could have stayed longer!

GermanyThis was our favorite hotel in Japan! We stayed only one night to get to see the island of Miyajima a bit more, and staying here was such a nice experience. In particular, the dinner at the hotel was so special and delicious! You need to message them to make the reservation some days in advance, but they were always very responsive. The facilities of the hotel were really great: the public baths, the rooftop terrace, the footbath café. Finally, the staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

Hotel Miyu Rikyu is perfectly situated along the waterfront just a few steps from Miyajima Ferry. We had a sea view room and could see the Otori Gate from our window. The setting and room were very. beautiful, Sleeping on the traditional futons on tatami mats was comfortable, and the set 12 course menu was delicious (though could be challenging for picky eaters). Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. Note that we were the only foreigners during our stay and the staff does speak English but it is a much more traditional Ryokan. On site onsen (public bath) was very nice with a small view out to the sea from the top floor.

The owner of this hotel is just amazing, so hospitable & kind & goes out of her way to ensure a perfect stay! The food is fabulous both at dinner and breakfast plus when I arrived she took out an island map and marked the 6 best sites to visit and the suggested order too - she was bang on & my day was fabulous! My room was warm cozy and clean with a fantastic view out to the water. The hotel is right across from the ferry dock making it so easy stay here. Simply amazing time! 10 stars!

We stayed in the older part of the ryokan and it was spectacular. The rooms have beautiful views and the onsen is heavenly. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our meals were delicious and perfectly presented. We had a very romantic stay and enjoyed being on the island at night.
Do yourself a favour and wear the yukata - it's the most comfortable clothing I've ever worn. We would love to come back!

The strength of the hotel is its staff: Very welcoming, helpful and friendly, anticipating our needs and surprising us with their attention. Then, the meals: the breakfasts and Kaiseki dinners are amazing. Being a bit farther from the crowded center, means it's more quiet and relaxing. Also their shuttle service is very convenient. Highly recommended.

We loved the Oyado Tsukiusagi!
It had the most comfortable futon beds we experienced through our 5 weeks of traveling through Japan, a beautiful and clean room, and the lady at the hotel was very nice and welcoming.
We really love Miyajima so we were very happy that we could stay at the island through the night.

The property was amazing and the host was super kind and polite. The room was an old style Japanese room with futon. Breakfast and dinner were also good. Bathrooms are shared but very clean. The common area is a plus where you can meet other people and share experiences. I totally recommend it.

This is a gem! Traditional style and great value in a beautiful location. Meals were exceptional especially for being vegan which is hard to come by in Japan! The room was spacious and the onsen was wonderful and comfortable. Would happily stay again!

It was the biggest room we had in Japan! We had our own private outdoor onsen. It was an amazing stay. We enjoyed the island after everyone left and then relax in the onsen after sunset. Highly recommended to experience Miyajma!

Don't miss this. One of the three most beautiful areas in Japan as I am told. Is beautiful. Deer roam the area. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants. is a small island with traditional houses. Just beautiful
You can take a ferry from Hiroshima near peace park to island. Went with Japanese friend of my son's thought I would enjoy experience and I did. Stayed at jeikuso ryokan

The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.
