Featuring a hot tub, massage treatments and tennis courts, Hotel La Neige by Onko Chishin offers rooms with a balcony and nature views. It provides a free shuttle service and free Wi-Fi. From the moment we were picked up to the moment we got the bus back the hotel service was exceptional. We took the breakfast and dinner option and every day was the most comfortable experience. We were in Hakuba for skiing. There was a rental place a 5 min walk away which we were able to charge to our room (at the end of the trip they returned the gear for us) and every day when we went to ski they prepared our gear by the door for us on the way out and took us with our gear to Happo. At the end of the day they came to get us after a quick call and upon our arrival our shoes were waiting at the door for us to change into. The staff went over and above to help us with whatever we needed. Although it wasn't our first trip to Hakuba and we pretty much only went there for skiing this time, they gave us guides on what we could do in the area. They were kind and understanding, and especially sweet to our 4 y/o daughter. The included food was really good, including the kids options, and I was pleasantly surprised every evening. The room had this cozy random vibe to it with interesting furnishings and also an amazing jacuzzi in it with a view of the snow falling onto the trees outside I would highly recommend staying here - we had an amazing time.

Nozawa Onsen
Altitude Nozawa is your average Nagano ski resort hotel with all the essentials intact. what has made our stay utterly enjoyable was the company of hotel staff. Our sincere gratitude to Jack, Kleber and Nobu san who went out of their ways to help us sort out the ski gear, picking us up and dropping us off to the slopes, bus terminals and restaurant outings. Paul, upon sudden notice of my diet, made me a mushroom omelette for breakfast, it was absolutely delicious. Such a lovely team, undoubtedly due to the leadership skills of Jack.
Nagano
There are a total of seven of us traveling by car in the Nagano and Nagaoka areas, and this is the only hotel that can accommodate 7 people. The host is very friendly and tried to communicate with us in slow Japanese and simple English. The room is big and clean, the air-conditioning facilities and bedding are also very comfortable. But be aware that there is only shared washrooms, and because of the covid, the onsen closes before 7:30, which means it will be difficult for you to take a shower after 7:30 (2022/08/05).
Suwa
Hamanoyu feels like an old grand dame from another era. The staff do their best to keep up the quality and they do a good job. My room was small and cute. The sauna and hot spring facilities were well-maintained and felt comfortable and relaxing. I only got breakfast, but it was more than adequate. I feel that not enough. People are visiting that part of Nagano these days, and that tourism is suffering, which is ironic because much of the rest of Japan appears to be booming. I hope, I can do my small part to help get the word out.
Nagano
The property was immaculate, and the hosts were exceptionally kind and welcoming. We gained valuable insights into Japanese culture through our interactions with them. The traditional Japanese tatami room was very comfortable and had ample space for our luggage. It’s about 15 mins away from the main Nagano hustle and bustle but we had a car and didn’t mind a little bit of distance. It was nice and quiet. It was still accessible to supermarkets, pharmacy, restaurants and Uniqlo!
Yamanouchi
The three onsens were great, so fun just having a quick spa whenever you felt like it day or night! Very flexible with food preferences/dietary requirements they are able to cater to anyone Yudanaka town was pretty quiet in spring, not much going on but very relaxing nonetheless The rooms were very clean and so spacious The scenery around this part of Japan is way more beautiful than I had expected Easy to get here - one 45 min train from nagano station
I stayed for a night on my way to Shiga Kogen. Hotel is perfectly located right across Nagano station, you see it the moment you exit the station. Which was excellent after a long day of travel. Super convenient to check out the next morning and just cross the road for the bus. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel provides some thoughtful amenities are provided at the lobby. There is a 711 right next door.
Nagano
If you are looking for a nice 1-2 night stay in the heart of Nagano's traditional temple district, this is it. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is extremely accommodating. The breakfast and dinners are in an authentic ryokan style, with many different traditional Japanese dishes. I loved the location because it was easy to just step out and do a bit of shopping or go to a nearby restaurant/cafe.
Matsumoto
Amazing room with great views over the Japanese Alps. The top-floor room had its own private outdoor onsen which was fantastic - hot and relaxing. Our plan had dinner and breakfast included. The dinner was very good, all based on local-Nagano prefecture produce, though maybe they tried a little too hard with some of the dishes. Breakfast excellent, fresh bakery, homemade sausages, fresh salads and soups.
Great location. Its a 5 min walk away from Nagano station. It was good for taking a quick trip to Zenkoji Temple in the morning, which is 16 mins away by bus. Hotel room was on the small end for a double room, but we didn't mind. The staff was very polite and helpful when helping international tourists check in. The free breakfast was tasty and filling. Check out was very fast.
Nagano
Everything about my stay was great - from the beautiful traditional Japanese house, delicious feast carefully prepared by the owners, warm and cozy room with a spectacular view of Nagano mountains, to the surrounding nature, snow, and calming atmosphere. Oshi-san (the owner) is the kindest and most welcoming person you can imagine - can't recommend this stay enough!
Nagano
Comfy and clean bed ’pod’ and shared bathroom facilities. Nice bar downstairs, the beers are really good though a bit pricey. The staff are super-nice and put up with my terrible Japanese 🤣 the location is perfect for Nagano station (10 mins walk max) and then it's a straight walk to the temples through the main shopping streets. I'd definitely stay again.
Yamanouchi
Very friendly hosts. They speak very little English, but they did their best to make my stay comfortable. There is onsen public bath which is nice to relax after day of walking. I was even offered a free ride to snow monkey park! Hotel is a few minutes walk from Yudanaka station, which is very convenient if you want to visit monkey park or go to Nagano.
Is my second time staying at Dormy Inn Nagano and it still maintains its standard. Hotel is near station. Onsen is nice and peaceful place after whole day’s activities. Lobby provides free beverages all day. Staff are professional to help me forward my luggage to another hotel. Highly recommend anyone to stay here when visiting Nagano.
Small hotel very close to ski lift. Very nice and very hot onsen (hot bath). Traditional breakfast included, but no coffee. Ski room and storage in basement. 2 restaurants in same building, and lots more within walking distance, also close to bus station for bus to Nagano and small convenience store. Friendly and helpful staff.
Yamanouchi
Wonderful Ryokan to stay in. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating. The onsen was awesome. The food was delicious and a great taste of traditional Japanese food and food famous in the local Nagano prefecture. The rooms were spacious and they make up the futon for you. The shuttle bus to the Monkey park was so helpful.
The location is perfect for skiing: the slopes (including rental office) is a less than 2 minute walk down the road. There is a rental shop in the building, but it only has beginner gear: advanced gear can be found an 8-minute walk down the road. The bus stop is also close by, both for the local bus and the bus to Nagano.
Yamanouchi
Tasty dinner and breakfast, traditional Japanese clothing Yukata (provided free of charge in the room for the guests), en-suite bathroom, lovely traditional Japanese room, free shuttle pick up from & drop off to the train station, beautiful train ride to the location (from Nagano)
Matsumoto
We had a big pleasure staying at this beautiful, so clean and well maintained traditional Japanese house. Elia and Yuri are very welcoming and nice people that made our stay felt like home! Thanks a lot to you guys! When we go to Nagano next time we well certainly stay there again:)
Loved the cleanliness, the room amenities (clothing steamer/dryer was cool), the proximity to subway...and the breakfast was the BEST of all the hotels we had stayed at while in Japan (a total of 7). Next time we go to Nagano, this is the hotel we will come back to!!
The Metropolitan Hotel is located next to Nagano-shi station, the Zenkoji exit. It takes just a few minutes to get there from the station so the location is exceptionally convenient. The room was large and comfortable and I had a nice view of the surrounding hills.
