Generally speaking, Shela Village is quite magical - tranquil, dreamy and authentically Swahili. Msafini, at the heart of Shela Village, captures the imagination of Lamu, with all-round pleasant views, front facing Manda Channel and Manda Island; with a rear view of the pretty sand dunes. The beach is just 10 minutes away, on a lazy-walk. What's more, everyone is happy to help to Msafini - from where to go, where to eat, organizing local boats, and much more.

Located in Lamu, near Lamu Fort, Lamu Museum and 18th Century Swahili House Museum, JamboHouse Lamu features free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a terrace. Arnold is incredible and very helpful when it comes to suggesting activities and restaurants around the island. Also makes a really good omelette :)
Facing the seafront on Manda Island, Mangrove House features a private beach area. Among the various facilities are barbecue facilities and a garden. Our stay at Mangrove House could not have been a better end to a month-long journey through Kenya. Situated right on the beach, directly opposite of the beautiful town on Shela, the house is an ideal spot for anyone looking to getaway and relax. The sunsets were like nothing we’ve ever seen before! Masha and his lovely family looked after us during our stay. Their home-cooked food was outstanding; fresh fruit in the mornings and fresh fish in the evenings. Transport to and from Lamu or Shela town was readily available so exploring the unique ancient towns was easy to do. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing that we never wanted to leave! We would recommend to all and will defiantly be returning in the near future!
With pool views, Andavelo House is located in Lamu and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace. Andavelo house is in a beautifully restored stone house in lamu town. The house has a mysterious and exciting feel to it and we appreciated all of the gorgeous details. However, it was the staff that really set this apart. They were all so kind and lovely -- they went out of their way to make sure every desire was fulfilled (including to take me early to a store to buy something they had at the house that I admired). They were endlessly welcoming. We owe them such a debt of gratitude for making this an oasis to return to every day after the somewhat intense tourist-focused attention of people in the town.
With Manda Bay Beach reachable in a few steps, the lodge provides accommodations, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a bar and a garden. Complimentary WiFi is featured. Amazing, friendly staff who made you feel at home; perfectly spacious beach houses equipped with everything you could need; the food...we ate like kings! All in all an amazing place.
Featuring a garden, Jamala Guest house is located in Lamu in the Coast region, 141 feet from Lamu fort. Popular points of interest around the property include Old Jetty (Lamu) and Water well. I loved EVERYTHING about the property. I love its proximity to the dock where you get your boat to the airport or to Shela. I loved the host, Baji. I loved Joseph’s breakfast every morning. I love sitting in the open spaces to take in the fresh air and sunlight.
Located within a 5-minute walk of Shela Beach and 0.7 miles of Manda Beach in Lamu, Jua House has accommodations with free WiFi and seating area. I was on Lamu for 2 nights/1 day, and the best time I spent there was during my leisurely mornings at Jua House. The place is stunning, so well thought through, peaceful and comfortable. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay anywhere else from what I’ve seen on the island
Located along the sandy Kizingo Beach on Lamu Island, Kizingo offers thatched-roof chalets with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Tom was exceptional as he always served everyone with a smile. The owner Mary Joe was very accommodating and caring. The food was delicious and the chef accommodated any special requests. We stayed at the Family tent with our two teenage girls. The tent was at the end of the property and the girls had a room upstairs. There was an amazing constant breeze from the ocean that we experienced in the tent as there were open areas. The tip of Lamu island meets the Indian ocean and there is beautiful sunset every evening. This property has only basic amenities you need for camping so its a perfect place to detox from your phone and become one with nature. You will literally feel you are sleeping outside. We would recommend to anyone who wants a secluded place.

Very welcoming hostel where you got useful tips what to do and experience while stay in Lamu. Pick-up from the airport for free made coming to Lamu easy. Everything was well organized, as trips via hostel. Rooms were clean. We recommend!
Very beautiful accommodations, clean, good location, good breakfast, air conditioning, calm and quiet. Perfect place to rest and have some peace after long days in Lamu.
The location is good - right in the heart of Lamu.
Great location on the beach, good food and drinks and super friendly staff. Simple accommodation but everything you need.
Even too big room! Excellent place is many respect
The staff is exemplary. They do everything to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Hands up to Omar and Ali. Ali cooked delicious food for me. Omar showed me around Lamu town, gave me good advices ,even made his effort to keep me safe as a lone woman traveler. The manager is very pleasant. The old Swahili design is so cozy. I had the penthouse room with breathtaking views of the sea. I want to keep this a secret, but these people deserve this good review for their hard work. A good example how to run a business.
The architecture of Amu House is astounding and it is matched with the calm and genuine service of Bakari and Hammatin - we felt so at home with our daily Swahili breakfast, recommendations on activities, laundry service, Swahili lessons, and conversations. We got as much as we needed at Amu House and cannot wait to return with our friends!
