The staff was the best I have ever known and couldn't do enough for you. They were polite and really happy and friendly. They went out of there way and beyond any requests I made. Even the chef making me or adding to meals something I would like. On my birthday they made the bed so beautiful and made me a dessert free of charge. They was wonderful

I have been traveling in Madagascar for months and this is the most successful hotel I have been to. Lauren and Anita the hotel owners are both charming and caring. The hotel is on the beach of Dego right in front of Sugar Mountain and you can see and hear the waves from the room in the hotel there is also the excellent kitesurf club of Dolphin and Nordin There is no doubt that I understood very much from a stay and received a full return on the low cost of the stay

The hotel lacks any proper access to the beatch. Moreover, it is directly established just beside a busy road which makes is less comfortale for a relaxed stay and deprives the chance of having the benefits for a beach-side hotel. And the all the meals are found to be oil or cheese based which was not ok for a long stay. Other than that, the rooms, staff support, cleanliness and decoration of the hotel were really good.

We had a wonderful 4 nights at Sakatia Passions Ecolodge, the We had a wonderful four-night stay at Sakatia Passions Ecolodge. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome, and the warm, joyful hospitality made our stay really special. The setting is simply beautiful, with wonderful views and such easy access to the beach. Our bungalow was exceptional, spacious, comfortable and perfectly positioned, just moments from the sea. The food deserves a special mention too: every meal was beautifully prepared, varied and absolutely delicious, particularly the fresh fish. We also loved having the opportunity to explore the island, whether along the trails or from the water, while still being able to return to such a peaceful and relaxing base. A truly memorable stay in a very special place. We would happily return and would thoroughly recommend Sakatia Passions to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful, beautiful and genuinely welcoming.

Mantasaly is a truly special property, an exceptional and exotic location where you feel welcomed and pampered from the very first moment. The staff is extremely warm, friendly, and always helpful, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. The swimming pool is beautiful and very well maintained, with a family-friendly depth — a big plus for us, especially since we were traveling with a child. The atmosphere is calm, safe, and relaxing. The spa experience was outstanding. We enjoyed a remarkable treatment using unique local products and sea mud, offering an authentic and deeply relaxing experience. We highly recommend Mantasaly to anyone looking for tranquility, high-quality service, and a truly exotic getaway. We would definitely return!

We had two different rooms because we extended our stay. The first (#5) was close to the pool and better / more private than the second one (#6). The hotel is set 200 meters back from the beach which we liked but some might prefer to be right on the beach. When you get to the beach you are at the far end of the busy part of the beach. Turn left and there's a gorgeous stretch of almost totally deserted soft white sand with warm crystal clear water. Turn right and it's the same beach, but it gets gradually busier, and soon you get to the village of Ramena where you'll find dozens of small restaurants serving excellent seafood. The hotel also has a small swimming pool which is nice for cooling off. It's easy to arrange excursions from there. We went to the Montagne des Francais - it's well worth the effort to climb to the summit where you have a stunning 360 degree view of the bay. You can also walk to Baie des Dunes and Baie des Pigeons - it's a hot sweaty walk but totally doable. However, despite all the fuss about the Trois Baies, the beach at Orangea which is just around the headland from Ramena has got to be one of the nicest beaches in the world.

Oh wow! What an amazing place. Firstly, after booking I received FULL info on how they work, food, drinks, entertainment, sports, prices and tours. Also about visas and costs. This was wow, since no other place has done this in 32 countries I have been to. On arrival we received a welcome drink, a towel to refresh and was briefed about how, what, where and when things happen. This place has stunning views. The 'mora mora' life (slow) is real here, with large bungalows. Clean linen, towels etc. The staff are locals, very friendly and helpfull. Owner is always here and visible! (10/10 for this). Great pool area with live music in the evening, but this is controlled and no disturbance when wanting to sleep. Good food and drinks. Also the free shuttle when booking 7 or more nights is very convenient. Rooms cleaned daily and mosquito nets are set just before sunset. What more to say? Well, come and visit.

The Home Residence offers truly exceptional villas — very spacious, beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. We especially loved how much outdoor living space there is for enjoying the holiday, relaxing, and simply taking in the peaceful tropical atmosphere. The entire property feels luxurious yet warm and welcoming at the same time. The pool is absolutely outstanding, and everything is maintained to a very high standard. What also made our stay special was the exceptional staff — always available, fast, attentive, precise, and genuinely kind. Every request was handled quickly and professionally, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. The restaurant was excellent, and the spa experience was equally outstanding. It is a perfect combination of comfort, elegance, nature, and luxury.

Looking for a nourishing escape? The Constance Tsarabanjina exceeded our expectations. Gabriel, Elena and their team are exceptional. They care for every single guest with so much passion and heart. The nature is breathtaking. The whole atmosphere of the island takes you in immediate ZEN feeling and allowed us to unplug immediately. The breakfast was our favorite with a large variety and great homemade bakery etc. Delicious daily fresh fish is another highlight. Plenty of meditation, snorkeling and diving spots. Our son and my husband made their first scuba dive experience. Amazing guidance and professional support by Martina who made both feel very safe and comfortable. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much 🙏🏻❤️

A family run hotel in the prime spot in Ambatolaka. Close to the beach local bars and shops. A nice clean room and balcony overlooking a lush botanical garden created by Benjamin to show some of the beautiful and exotic plants of madagascar. Benjamin the owner is very kind and likes to spread awareness of madagascara ecology. Tina, the manager, is an absolute star. Her local knowledge is priceless, and she helped me so much with everything from trips to food to what prices are. Everything I needed, she helped every step of the way. Perfect for a lone woman traveller to have this angel helping and supporting!!

The location is fantastic, the restaurant of a good quality and the staff were all super helpful. The manager in particular went out of her way to ensure our stay was super comfortable. The lodge was the most beautiful we stayed at on the whole island and the infinity pool was a definite highlight. We ended up extending our stay in the lodge by an extra two days.

The sex tourism in the village is uncomfortable (I’m being polite). Quite a bit of hassle, though not aggressive, from vendors and massage girls. Not our kind of place. Much preferred Ile aux Nattes and Belo sur Mer, but that is because they are quiet and authentic. Nosy Be most definitely is not.

Ambatoloaka is a lively neighborhood.

Ambatoloaka is a lively neighborhood. It’s the place to be if you like going out at night. However, prices there are very high. Expect to pay between 30 and 50 euros for a couple’s dinner. Tuk-tuks are also quite expensive if you take them in the Ambatoloaka neighborhood. Also, there’s only one pharmacy, and its products cost five times more than in France. You’re better off going to Dzamandzar. It’s 2,000 MGA per person by tuk-tuk from Ambatoloaka.

We enjoyed this laid-back town.

We enjoyed this laid-back town. Not much traffic except tuk tuks. There isn't much to do in town but it is an easy place to walk around with some old colonial buildings to admire. A few have been restored but lots more could do with some TLC. There are lots of women selling trinkets and fruit but very low key. Locals were very friendly. Many people do day trips from Diego but I would recommend overnighting nearer to those places (Montagne D'Ambre and Tsingy Rouge). I expect it would be a nightmare to be in Diego Suarez when a cruise ship is in town but that didn't happen when we were there.

Nosy Be is frequented by mainly tourist flights from Italy. therefore French and Italian are widely spoken. There are multiple accommodation options facing onto the beach, all of which defend the sun loungers from hawkers to limit hassle. There are plenty of other restaurants as well to choose from, all a safe walk down the beach at night. Don’t forget your torch though.

Great diving and excursions but don’t stay at Hotel Ocean Beach, Nosy Sakatia as they pressurise you do excursions upon arrival, pay for food in advance (then deny it it), swimming pool quarter full of brown water full of mosquitos next to accommodation with mosquito nets with holes in it.
