One of Malaysia’s smallest states, Melaka (or Malacca) has an important place in the country’s history. Home to one of the first Malaysian sultanates, it features a fabulous, replica sultan’s palace in the capital – Melaka City.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sprawling city is a fascinating mix of architecture, including temples, mosques and churches dating back to Dutch and Portuguese colonial periods.
