An Oasis! We loved our stay at Catalinas and Antonio’s beautiful lodge. It’s a very nice atmosphere, the pool area is amazing and shady and the pool very clean. Also the food was delicious. Cooked with love and fresh ingredients. We stayed in one house up- and downstairs with the family. The rooms where special with the round design and decorated lovely. Warm water, AC, all functioned well. You can choose between different options for the included breakfast. Also they have very tasty selfmade bread and banana bread. We will definitely come back.

I stayed at Alive Beach House for a few nights with my husband. The location is perfect — right on the beach, very quiet, and not crowded. The room was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff was very friendly and relaxed. We joined the morning yoga classes at a very affordable price and it was really enjoyable. The food at the hotel was also good — fresh and healthy, with vegetarian and vegan options. If you want to relax and disconnect from the busy world, this is a great place. It’s simple but well organized, and we felt really comfortable the whole time

The staff was so friendly. We felt so welcome and at 'home'. They also helped us with arranging a taxi to our next stop, even during the busy 'Holy week'. The location was perfect. With a walk on the beach you could go to all the other restaurants (when you would like to eat outside) Another fun thing, they named all the rooms to a famous Belgum beers.

It’s a true beachfront hotel, and my room on the first floor had a pool view — but I could also see the ocean, which was an amazing surprise. Yes, it’s one of the more expensive hotels in Las Peñitas, but absolutely worth it in my opinion. I chose it for the direct beach access — just a few steps and you’re on the sand. Everything worked smoothly, even the food and drink invoices were accurate and easily split between our rooms. I can definitely recommend this place.

The hotel itself is just 5 minutes walk from the central square. It has spacious double rooms with fans and air conditioning. The breakfast is hearty and plentiful. It is peaceful and above all the staff are exceptional. They will help you with anything you need. They organised our transport into Honduras and maintained in contact the whole time. I couldn’t recommend this hotel any more highly!

I love the location of Barca de Oro. It’s one of the best spots on the pacific coast in Nicaragua. Sandrine and her family are excepcionally welcoming and make you feel at home. Sandrine was very helpful and nice to some of my friends who got sick. I also recommend trying yoga classes - the energy is very unique.

What an unbelievable view! Fantastic beach and pool views, absolutely friendly and lovely staff, reasonably priced. The front rooms overlooking the pool are so well appointed, comfortable and clean. Great value that includes breakfast and movement classes in an idyllic location.

Very quiet spot on quiet street with comfy beds. Heidi at the front desk is the sweetest lady and very caring. Donna the manager or owner help me with understanding something in Spanish and was very nice. The people make this hotel Great.

Leon is a pretty and interesting city.

Leon is a pretty and interesting city. We enjoyed a walking tour and the art museum was absolutely fantastic. We also really enjoyed doing a few trips from here - to the beach/mangroves at Las Penatas, and a volcano hike. We spent a week here which was a perfect amount of time for us, but we travel quite slowly!

Las Penitas is only 2 hours from Managua and 20 mins from lovely Leon. It’s totally relaxing, with some great places to eat for every budget, surf schools and mangroves to explore. The fishermen bringing their boats in up the river are a great sight to see at high tide. All in all, it’s a truly magical place, that I secretly hope not tooooooo many people will go to😜

Exception Host (Juan Carlos)! 🤗 Very considerate & responsive to our needs. His mastery of English was very welcome. Went beyond what is usually expected to ensure our comfort. Arranged & joined in an unexpected & unrequested informal boat tour that proved a pleasant surprise! Genuine ‘from the heart’ Owner! 🤗 Accomm’n very comfortable - like being at home! Comfy beach closeby -great for walking! Supporting the local food shops & restaurants (within a close walk) added to our immersion in the local Culture. Will miss the friendly shopkeepers (Margarita) that we came to know by name well! 😞 Overall - a lasting impact - the memories that undoubtedly will last a long time! Gracias Juan Carlos! 🙏😎

Leo is a very visitor friendly city.

Leo is a very visitor friendly city. It is small enough that you can walk everywhere. Very friendly people and happy to help. Lots of culture as well as outdoor activities including beaches and volcano hikes and boarding nearby. My favorite place in Nicaragua.

We needed a place to relax and enjoy the beach. The staff and the owner make sure our stay were in the mood. We like the food. They also recommended restaurants in the area, and places to visit. Excelent place to stay.

I really see no reason to visit Leon, unless you have a specific purpose to go there as in business, or family. The place is like living in a furnace, and just doesn´t offer anything to make the stay worthwhile.

Food was great, Tony was an amazing server and took care of us like we were family. On the down side, hotel needs a lot of improvement. Bathrooms are very duty, the lobby for some reason smelled like pee, and the cushions on the dining area were very duty too.
