The main thing is they're the first hotel of many on our journey to serve real scrambled eggs. The hotel is super inviting, the small seating areas are super cozy, making you want to actually use them, compared to most other hotels where they feel like an afterthought. The breakfast was super nice, felt fresh and high quality, and they had a nice selection of different things, something for every taste. The staff was super nice and welcoming, the room was clean and felt well thought out, and the bathroom looked modern. Overall a very cozy stay. We did however not use the pool or eat dinner there, so I can't speak of the quality of that.

The Vestlia resort has exceeded our expectations. It has an excellent location just next to the Geilo main ski slopes, that offer great opportunity to ski directly from the hotel. The hotel itself is really great, the interior brings you back in 80s and 90s and have a charm of fused modern style with the antique. The staff was amazingly friendly! For family with the kids, you have so many activities to do (swimming pool, bowling, activity room, cinema) which make your stay so much fun. The restaurant was also nice and breakfast was great. We had such a great holiday! Manythanks!

Everything was excellent. It was beyond our expectations. Staff were really lovely and happy to help. Nothing was a problem. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast was exceptional - so much variety. Room and bed were very comfortable. Bathroom was roomy and plenty of hot water. Check in was easy and could check in from 3pm. There was a lift. We didn’t need it but there was a supermarket of to the hotel

I had an incredible experience here, would highly recommend! Everyone is extremely kind and helpful, the food is delicious and fresh, there are comfortable common areas with lots of couches and tables, my room was quite large with a comfortable bed and a gorgeous view out the window. You could not ask for a better location for winter activities--there are lots of trails for skiing, you can go over the mountains to the woods to cross-country ski, and the landscape is absolutely breathtaking. During my stay, I was able to attend the Ice Music festival in an igloo just in front of the hotel, and see ice sculptures by a local artist along the trails. I could not have asked for a better experience. Just make sure to plan ahead for a car or taxi from Ål since the buses don't reach that far up the mountain. I can't recommend it enough, I had such a beautiful stay and hope that I can come back!

Staff were excellent. I had a medical emergency on my last night and they were incredibly helpful and went over and beyond expectations to make sure I was alright. (I have visited many hotels in my time and this is the only review I have ever completed as I feel the staff deserve recognition. i do not remember names but the staff that helped me was a man and a woman both possibly in their 20s, I think the man said he was from Denmark. If anyone from the hotel reads this please pass on my thanks) Also, the food from the bakery and restaurant was amazing!

First of all the location is perfect for nature exploration, skiing or enjoying some quite time with family or friends. The cabin (only couple of meters from river) was modern and bright with huge windows, excellent views, spacious and completed with everything we needed. Groceries shops around 5 min walk. And because we arrived and left during holiday time we appreciated cabin key collection/drop from safe. We and our kids in their 18s lowed everything about the cabin and surroundings.

Geilo is a ski town.

Geilo is a ski town. Skiing in Norway is more affordable than the United States and less crowded. Unlike many ski towns that I have been in, Geilo was pretty dead once the slopes were closed. There is no public transit within the city limits. Taxis are infrequent and expensive. If you stay for a few days, a car is recommended. We took the bus from Oslo to Geilo and the train from Geilo to Bergen. It is spectacularly beautiful and the young people working at the ski resorts were very cool. There is a nice international vibe.

I was very happy with a friendly and helpful hotel reception...

I was very happy with a friendly and helpful hotel reception and a well informed manager. I had been upgraded to a better room at their initiative. Happy with that! And a very good breakfast - much more than I need in the morning. Great location for a ski vacatiion with ski area shuttlebus stopping close by if you need it. You can take your last run all the way down close to the hotel. Good local restaurants and bars very close by - less than a minute out the door. The hotel used to be the local hub before new construction at the resort base was developed. I have skied and arranged many ski trips with friends and colleagues to Hemsedal since 1986, staying at the hotel on several occasions and have many good memories from after ski and dinners at the hotel amongst the other possibilities "downtown" Hemsedal.

Ål is a nice small town with everything needed for a vacation. Groceries are open on holydays. Geilo and Ål skiing centers are not far away. There are plenty of cross-country opportunities with tracks starting right outside the cabin.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment last weekend. The owner lady was incredibly kind and responsible, making sure everything was perfect for our arrival. Parking was hassle-free, which was a great relief. The apartment itself was exactly as described: clean, beautifully designed, and very quiet. It provided a peaceful retreat after our long trip and busy days of skiing. The sauna was a fantastic addition, offering much-needed relaxation and warmth. Overall, we highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable and serene place to stay. We will definitely consider returning in the future!

Love Hemsedal! Perfect ski resort. Good facilities. Have skied there a lot both down hill and cross country. Love the international feel. Great sports and interior stores. In general very friendly people. Nothing negative comes to mind!

The downhill skiing is great for a party of mixed ability -...

The downhill skiing is great for a party of mixed ability - you were never too far apart to meet up again. Nice variety of runs in Geiloheisen side. Less variety of runs in Geilolia but every run a great one. Being able to also set off on lots of varied XC ski trails is also a good selling point. There are a couple of good sized supermarkets in the town.
