It was an economical price, but not chintzy. The room design was stylish, and the curtains had good blackout properties. Breakfast was served on the top floor with a great view. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay.

This cabin is the most impressive and my favorite accommodation during my trip to Norway. It is fully equipped and offers a great view and scenery. The cabin I booked has four beds. When we returned from the strong winds outside, the warm kitchen and cozy lights made us feel very safe and comfortable. The bar downstairs serves excellent venison, which was a completely new and exciting culinary experience! The nearest supermarket is a short drive away, and it’s also a fantastic place!

We considered the potential to see the northern lights.

We considered the potential to see the northern lights. The forecast was generally cloudy for the duration, but we still pushed through because it had a very high solar activity. People are polite and easy to talk to. Props to Bardus Bistro! Really really good food and great service! Transportation around the municipality was easy and affordable. Fjord exploration and adventure is nice; however, we weren't able to book the Sami culture experience wherein you also get to feed reindeers. Try the magic ice bar for a novelty experience. If you go ride the cable cars, it is a very pleasant ride with such a good view of the municipality, however it can get a bit scary when the wind blows hard on the side of the cable car. Polaria was great as well!

A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.

Very picturesque island, two days is more than enough to explore it. Sunshine is a rarity. End of season mid August. Place for camper vans to park. One shop and one cafe. You can buy only beer in a shop, no alcohol. For a harder spirits you need to travel to Tromso. Bring your food if you can, shops sells very simple and not very good staff. More or less decent meal you can have in an arctic hotel, which is pricey and just ok, no more, choice is limited.

A nice area to visit and so different from many places in Norway. The countryside is so different from part to parts on the island of Senja. The same with the local people, more quiet at the inner part/Eastern side of the island. Then more outspoken and louder when to speak to the ones on the Western side of the island. Great place to visit if you are to lock for the Aurora Borealis, and also close to Tromsoe. Either by a car or just for a day-trip with different boats.

Nice place for a short stay. Without a car you run out of options quickly. Smaller hiking trips and ski tours possible in the valley. Northern lights possible when there is no midnight sun. No supermarket in the village.

Tromsø completely exceeded expectations.

Tromsø completely exceeded expectations. It somehow manages to feel like a remote Arctic outpost and a buzzing little cultural hub at the same time. Snow-dusted mountains rise straight out of the sea, the light shifts by the minute, and everywhere you turn looks like a postcard that’s trying a bit too hard (but gets away with it). The size of the city is one of its biggest strengths. Everything feels walkable and accessible — you can wander from the harbour to cafés, museums, and viewpoints without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Yet despite being compact, it’s full of life. The restaurants are excellent, the coffee culture is strong (as it should be in Arctic temperatures), and there’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable immediately. The setting is what really steals the show. Surrounded by dramatic peaks and open water, the views are constant and ridiculous. Whether you’re crossing the bridge, heading up the cable car, or just standing still and looking around, it’s breathtaking. And if you’re lucky enough to see the northern lights there — it’s genuinely surreal. What surprised me most was how peaceful it feels. Even with visitors, there’s space to breathe. It’s calm without being dull, adventurous without being chaotic. Tromsø isn’t just somewhere you visit. It’s somewhere you experience — properly. And once you’ve been, it lingers with you long after you’ve left.

The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.

The cabin we stayed in was roomy, wonderfully provisioned, and exceptionally clean. The restaurant offers a full-selection breakfast buffet and a full-service dinner that includes a selection of regional fish deliciously prepared. The village is quaint and charming and has several local, short hikes that are walking distance from the hotel. We loved everything about our stay and hope to return someday to see the Northern Lights!

Tromso is amazing!

Tromso is amazing! We went during the winter time to see the northern lights. We tried to chase the lights 3 times and got to see it each time. Besides that, there are nice restaurants, great shops, and lots to see! We went on a fjord tour and we got to feed reindeer at a reindeer farm. I would say Tromso has a lot to do and see. It was also cool to visit Pust and enjoy the sauna and cold plunge in the Arctic Ocean! We also rode the Fjellheisen cable car and got plenty of views of the city. I wish I could do more! I would love to come back!
