Loved the look, feel and vibe of the Inn; the staff were so lovely, going above and beyond. The room was quaint, and I slept like a log. There was even a good selection of teas in the room - it is the small things! Great having the bar and restaurant just underneath. Small enough to ensure a personal experience. Free and easy parking - another plus!

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and private which made my stay perfect. The bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained. There was no breakfast at the hotel, however, the venue was central of all convenient stores along with restaurants within walking distance. The beds were comfortable too; this allowed me to get more rest in peace and feel more rejuvenated. The venue provides a pool directly outside the room which was therapeutic. Parking was conveniently outside my room and. the venue provides a laundry facility. Just like a home away from home I would recommend this beautiful haven to anyone who prefers comfort.

We liked everything about the property. Our spacious room was fantastic, with all the necessary amenities. Sue, the woman who assisted us at the property, was also tremendous in all respects, arranging for our late arrival and helping with a number of questions that we had regarding meals, places to visit, etc. We would highly recommend this motel to anyone!

Cultural and arty- we were lucky as the Vintage weekend was on when we went there so there was free entertainment. Sergeant Gallery has been renovated and had an add on which is all very classy. Saturday Market is worth a visit. NOt great for cycling even though it claimed to have a cycle way as part of the Mountain to the Alps. WE did the stretch from town to Castlecliff. fairly underwhelming. WE enjoyed Bushy Park- a free sanctuary- where we saw a lot of birds.

We were quite surprised that the town was looking so...

We were quite surprised that the town was looking so deserted compared to just couple of years ago when we last visited. Many of the shops on the main street (and just about all the ones on the side streets) were unoccupied and boarded up. Having only stayed one night, we didn't have much time to do more than walk up and down the main street to see the shops, but the town has quite a run down feel to it. The activities run by the Forgotten World Motel were mostly not operating at this time of the year (September). If you plan to do the adventure activities offered by the Motel, then visit from mid-October onwards when they are fully operating.

We found Whanganui to be a quiet and pleasant town to visit.

We found Whanganui to be a quiet and pleasant town to visit. It was very easy to get around on foot or by car. In one day we visited the Durie Elevator, did a two hour boat trip on the paddle steamer, went to the excellent art gallery, walked around Virginia lake and explored the city center. There are also several art shops to see.

My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger...

My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger Moth Club which was formed there in 1969 and returns every October to the best grass aerodrome in New Zealand. We always get a great welcome from the townspeople - and the weather is (usually) ideal for open-cockpit vintage biplanes.

Whanganui is just another beautiful city in nz to visit.

Whanganui is just another beautiful city in nz to visit. The information center was very helpful to us. I loved that we could walk around the city cbd. It made me remember the old time street shops and buildings before malls came. The tunnel through the hill, up in the elevator and climbing the two towers at the top of the hill was great. You can see all of Whanganui. Have yet to visit again and see other attractions.
