Very professional canyoning guide! We had a great time exploring the canyons with Zahir. Even though there were only two of us, he still went ahead with the tour, which we really appreciated. The location also offers beautiful views of the mountains and the village. The architecture blends in nicely with the surroundings and doesn’t stand out inappropriately like some of the neighboring hotels. The food is great too!

It is a really beautiful location. The staff is friendly and tries really hard to make your stay better. The beds are comfortable, and the food is fresh and tasty. You get breakfast and dinner, which helps a lot. There are lots of hikes and things to see, so I will recommend staying here a few days. The people in the village are super friendly.

The quiteness of the place was what we loved in Sohar.

The quiteness of the place was what we loved in Sohar. Away from the noise and busy life of Dubai. Availability of food from cheap street food to expensive restaurants was another major advantage and of course various cuisines. Omani Shuwa was one of the best dishes. Sea food cooked by small outlets was amazing. Horse riding on the beach was fun My suggestion to non-arab expats: this is not your country, so please try other country cuisines and explore different tastes. Please drive and behave responsibly in public and maintain the decorum of that place, Dress well, avoid throwing garbage here and there. Be civilized as much as possible.

Well worth the drive. Not for the faint hearted in places! 4WD required. Police checkpoint at base to check vehicles are roadworthy. It’s a very steep climb & decent. . Off road drives are challenging but the scenery is stunning. Bring snacks/water. Walking shoes. The Historical Al Sukar village is amazing. Challenging drive but worth it. A 500m walk down the trail to the lodges & cafe. And a tough climb back up same so bring water!

It was close of one of the biggest shopping mall just 100...

It was close of one of the biggest shopping mall just 100 meters away .. all you need available in that mall .. There is Barka market .. mostly a groups of shop 10 kilometers a lond the road extend to the cost. Taxi stand close to the hotel It will be good to have a car to do some trips around 45 minutes and 1.5 hors trips to wakan village or wadi bani Aouf .. 30 minutes to the airport

Breakfast was good overall, but there are a few areas that could be improved. There was only one person making omelettes, which caused delays during busy times. Additionally, the croissants and pastries were not served warm, which is something I would expect at a 4-star hotel. Furthermore, we were disappointed to find out that the swimming pool was under maintenance for a month, and we were not informed prior to confirming our booking. This was a surprise and affected our stay, as we had planned to use the pool during our visit.

Authentic experience and the way for a tourist or foreigner to immerse yourself in the village that is so beautiful on approach. You are welcomed and made to feel easy and welcome by the host and his family. They show genuine kindness and hospitality. Safe environment, authentic and clean. It’s a must if you passing and wonder what it must be like to be part of the village in comfortable surroundings

Barcelo Hotel, previously the Millenium Hotel, is really one of the hotels that I enjoyed staying at. It is relaxing, far from the city noise. I enjoy the food, the stroll along the beach, the accommodating staffs, and the comfy rooms. I will keep coming back here.

😊We spent 2 nights here as a family and it was a highlight of our trip! The approach via gravel road is no problem with 4x4 and offers wonderful views into the mountains. Behind the new settlement where the families of the former inhabitants of the historic village live, you can park and then it is about a 15-minute walk to cross the wadi, even with a small suspension bridge. Therefore, the approach should be made before sunset if possible. The traditional welcome was very warm and the guided tour through the village really exciting. The rooms are lovingly and stylishly restored with historical building materials and furnished accordingly. It was even more comfortable than we had expected. The quality of the bed linen, towels and bathrooms was visibly high. Everywhere there are resting places with cushions, balconies and terraces with fantastic views of the wadi and the mountains. There was always someone from the host family on site to look after the guests, which led to many interesting conversations. Water, tea and coffee were always available. Breakfast and dinner were included and we were always asked about our wishes in advance. The result was delicious! There are various tours offered by the host, who is also a mountain guide, which are certainly interesting. However, we opted for a nice hike on site, for which there are also many possibilities. If you are looking for peace and relaxation in wonderful nature and traditional surroundings, this is certainly the right place. We will not forget this unique accommodation and will certainly visit again on another trip! ☹ Nothing
