Hotel in Bluff Beach
Located in Bluff Beach, 6 miles from Bocas Town, The Hummingbird provides a garden and free WiFi. There's a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. We had a wonderful 5 days at The Hummingbird over Christmas, a great escape as so quiet and relaxed. Gary and Betsy were great hosts, they and the team were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Gary was very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna and we were so delighted to see several sloths in the garden! Along with beautiful hummingbirds, so many huge butterflies, frogs and lots more! The rooms are clean and bright and very comfy beds, great showers and a lovely balcony to sit out and chill on. The beach is very long so we were able to go for nice walks with hardly anyone there , so you have it to your self which was a huge bonus. The waves are very big in December so you can't swim here but there are other beaches you can take a boat to from Bocas Town. The pool is very nice aa an alternative and great to just lie in the sun by, as just so peaceful. The food was absolutely delicious , great breakfasts too, fresh fruit and cooked, inc their yummy coconut bread!. We enjoyed our evening cocktails a lot as well : ) ! We would all definitely come back to stay again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Hotel in Bastimentos
This rustic-style hotel is located on Isla Bastimentos island near the caribbean archipielago region of Bocas del Toro where you can enjoy a variety of eco-tourism activities and biodiversity. I usually do not write reviews and do not have much to say about the hotels I stay to but this is the most amazing resort I have ever been to. A must in Panama! The bungalows are open, the view of the ocean is incredible, you can hear the waves so you sleep so peacefully, you have mosquito net but if you forget your repellent you can buy one from there. If you travel from Costa Rica to Panama I recommend Caribe shuttle, because you cannot cross the border with the rental car. The resort provides a boat from Bocas del Toro - where Caribe Shuttle arrives or from where you arrive - to Bastimentos, where the resort is. If it is windy you will get wet, my clothes and hair were dripping water when I arrived at the resort, but did not mind! I heard that people complained and did not get why. Get some dry clothes or stay in the sun and a cocktail and enjoy the view from the resort. Paradise! The food is AMAZING! The most amazing food I have ever eaten! Try the spicy sauce made by the chef, pika mucho. You can also buy it. Pika mucho is the name given by his daughter :) They have a no wi-fi and no signal policy. If you need internet or signal, you walk 7 minutes by the beach and you can stay as long as you want and have very good signal. But you won't do that very often. The resort is amazing, the staff incredible and you will make friends among the tourists also. We left from there with so much contacts and amazing stories to share. You can do many activities and tours and highly recommend them, snorkeling, swimming, see dolphins, visit the near islands and beaches, go to the village. From the resort you can see many animals, there are the night monkeys which visit the restaurant at dinner, do not talk too loud and do not use flash or light because they get easily scared, they are such soft and cute animals. You can also see sloths, toucans, other monkeys, crocodiles, if you are lucky. Just go to Al Natural Resort and be AMAZED!

It is a tatty little town with poor sanitation so smelly near the water. If you are an under thirty back packer and your needs are sunshine, edible food, and endless drinks until late into the night you will probably like it. More mature visitors who have developed a taste for better will hate it. Travelling extensively throughout Panama this past 2 months we notice that there were an equal number of affluent Panamanians as tourists, but not in Bocas Town, they obviously know better. My wife was born in Panama, speaks fluent Spanish, loves Panama and it's people but had never been to Bocas Del Toro and she did not like it. We did have a pleasant day at Starfish beach which was very nice and there really are many starfish. We did not have a chance to visit but I am sure there are other remote beaches that are also good with much less pollution being more remote from Bocas Town. Another tip if you plan to drive be advised there is major road work for 180 km along Pan American starting after Santiago so expect a long drive, it took us 8 hours from Coronado area. Final tip never, never think about staying the night in Almirante in order to take your car across on early 7.00am ferry, it is a desperate place you will regret staying assuming you can find an hotel. In any event you do not need a car in Bocas Town everything is within easy walking distance, and you will need to catch cheap water taxi anyway to visit any of the other islands.
Bocas del Toro in general is awesome. The town is nice with some great restaurants. I found Panamanian people overall to be fairly nice but really don't seem to care whether tourists are there or not. Beaches and food are amazing with tons of excursions, water sports, etc.
Bocas del Toro is incredibly dirty, trash everywhere, bottles, garbage in the streets, urine smell, dogs running wild eating trash, and this was just what you could see with the naked eye. I can only imagine what goes on in ktichens of restaurants! One day in town, we saw vultures picking through garbage on the street!!! It's a shame because the island itself offers beautiful views, but the area is completely run down. I will never go back.
Bocas del Toro was fun and memorable. Highlights include a boat tour around the islands and a great lobster meal fixed by Derrick at his sidewalk kiosk grill on the island of Bastimento.
Bastimentos is an island with several different areas. Al Natural Resort is at the eastern tip, secluded and quiet. At the other end, near to the town of Bocas del Toro is a village, I think sometimes called Old Bank, which is busy and loud with music. There are also good beaches on the ocean side, Red Frog Beach, Wizard Beach and others. Some can only be reached by hiking, others by boat. There are other resorts on Bastimentos as well, some entirely in the jungle. Also there is an indigenous village of the Ngobe-Bugle people which you can visit and hire a guide to take you hiking and show you the wildlife and plant life. A few places are a bit trashy, sometimes from washing up on the beach, but it's minor. The weather is typically in the upper 80's in the day and upper 70's at night and it may rain a lot. But that's what makes the rainforest which is rich and varied. Although some people live on Bastimentos year round, it is off the beaten track.
An awesome central location for going / seeing the entire Bocas Islands. Everything / all the activities that Bocas del Toro offers are easily accessible. Great little town with lots of local flare, great selection of restaurants with local foods and lots of seafood options to choose from.
I would stay on Bocas del Toro and take water taxis to beaches or attractions.
Beautiful islands, nice hotels on the water. Very close to Bocas del Toro but far enough away to enjoy the tranquility.
Bocas Del Toro is a beautiful island destination with sandy beaches and nature. Great events and tours are a key part of visiting the islands. The prices are high as everything is geared toward tourists. What was particularly disturbing was the garbage in the polluted waters. This is definitely not an ecotourism destination, and it's sad to see the beautiful nature such as the corals dying. Hopefully the locals realize this before it's too late.
Bocas Del Toro is a beautiful group of island. Bocas town, the main town is nice to go out in but is definitely not the gem of Bocas. Get out of town either on a Boat or the road to the beaches to truly experience how beautiful Bocas is.
Solarte
Excellent stay in a private bungalow at this luxury hostel. Very relaxing atmosphere, gorgeous views, very nice pool, delicious fresh food and the coffee is amazing (probably the best in Bocas del Toro), nice and not too loud music, eco-friendly and completely off the grid. But, one wouldn't know it with the excellent amenities and service. Make sure you read the owner's story of how the Lodge came to be, it's amazing it exists at all. Highly recommended.
I had overall an alright stay at selina, only stayed 2 nights.I stayed in few selina and bocas del toro is definitly not the nicest one i visited. The spot is great and if your here to party, this is the place to be!! Beds are comfy!!
The place is located 10 minutes away from Bocas Town by boat, each lodge is wonderful and allows for a good rest and disconnection. The place itself is wonderful!!
The Room was super clean. The staff was very welcoming, it's Home away from home and the Breakfast was very Delicious.
The hotel was clean and very comfortable.
I got a great deal through my genius discount. I got to stay in the actual "lighthouse" building and it was simply outstanding. It has a mini fridge to keep all your beverages cold. The shower had amazing water pressure. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I took a stroll around the island and the whole thing took just under two hours. Unfortunately there is not much else to the island than beaches and a couple of restaurants. If you are looking for a lively night life you'll have to go to the main island and water taxi back at night.
Amy and Brian were top friendly hosts, the food was so delicious and the quiet, beautiful surroundings and views were spectacular. We give Dolphin Bay Hideaway our very best recommendations.
You can’t beat the location! By far on the best beach in Bocas. It’s nice that the property is out of the crazyness of Bocas town. The staff is incredible! Ruben, Ricardo, Hector, and Juan are top notch!
This place was the perfect escape to nature. Right by the ocean, sound of the waves crashing on the shore, and lots of areas to go sit and enjoy the scenery - hammocks everywhere, decks and cozy lounge spaces. The property is well decorated, very colourful with a homey feel. Our room had a great view of the ocean, very comfortable beds, and individual fans by our beds. The hosts were incredible, helping answer our questions about tours and the local area. The food was also exceptional - what a delight to have hosts cooking fresh meals each day (breakfast and dinner) and preparing a range of cocktails as we wished. Felt like we were staying with a family. They also had a shared kitchen to make your own food. Although the property is a bit far out from town (need to drive or taxi), that aspect made the place feel more secluded, comfortable and relaxing. Cannot recommend this place enough!
the owners are very nice and helpful. We met Poli in town and she brought us to the house and explained everything. She helped us to book our day trip and gave recommendations for restaurants in town. There is a boat shuttle once a day so you can go to town. The house is spacious and clean and we had a great time jumping into the water from our deck.
Food was out of this world, and so so healthy!
