Very charming hotel, located a short walk from the old city. Rooms were impeccably clean, beds were comfortable and breakfast on the terrace was lovely. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, including packing us boxed lunches when we had a 3am departure to Colca canyon.

I loved everything about this Hacienda style boutique hotel including the rooftop pool / lounging / breakfast deck with a beautiful view of the mountains! A robe was promptly delivered to my room without asking - I had simply asked about the pool hours. Exceptional service!

This is a lovely boutique hotel hidden away on a quiet street that's just a 10-minute walk from Arequipa's centro histórico. The staff were very courteous and helpful, the rooms were very clean and well-maintained, and my favorite part was the gorgeous garden with the spectacular molle tree at the center, with tables and benches to sit around and enjoy the ambiance. The breakfast buffet was fairly good, and the restaurant has a decent a la carte menu as well. Great value for money overall, a hidden gem in Arequipa!

Very busy, not particularly good looking city, the historic centre appeared to be OK but was a tiny part of a rather less attractive place. With more time, I may have had the opportunity to appreciate it more but in the brief time there I was not concerned about moving on.

Small quiet area - for bird photographers: the famous Mirador is good from dawn until about 830am (JUNE - we don't know about other months)...by 830am, Condors are heading up the Canyon - so the Mirador is not good for Condors after that time. It is great for Giant Hummingbirds and a couple other species (eg Peregrine) -

Arequipa is the most beautiful city in Peru with buildings...

Arequipa is the most beautiful city in Peru with buildings constructed with white volcanic rock. The food is outstanding with local specialties such as queso helado (ice cream made in a process similar to cheese but doesn't contain cheese), stuffed peppers, shrimp chowder, and fried guinea pig. It's also the perfect place to acclimate to altitude prior to traveling to Puno or Cusco. We flew to Arequipa from Lima, toured the Monastery of Santa Catalina, the Basilica Cathedral, and the Museo Santuario Andinos (Juanita mummy), and then headed to Colca Canyon followed by Puno the next day. I'm so glad we included Arequipa in our tour of Peru!

In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde.

In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde. There is only one official bus (Andalucia) and it departs from Arequipa very early or too late. There are also collectivos people can take to get there (local buses). Once there, the village is great, people are so helpful and the hikes are amazing! Please not there is no where to take money out, you absolutely need cash for everything.

The views from Arequipa (AQP) of the snow-capped mountains (...

The views from Arequipa (AQP) of the snow-capped mountains (volvanoes) is spectacular. The city has a very different feel to Cusco - unlike Cusco, AQP was not an Inca settlement. People are very friendly and the culture and outlook are different to rest of Peru. Our guide joked that people from AQP often consider themselves to be from a different country. Thrilled to see that AQP offers tasty vegan and vegetarian options.
