Faaa
A TOMO MAI Homestay, a property with a garden and a terrace, is located in Faaa, 7.1 miles from Museum of Tahiti, 10 miles from Point Venus, as well as 15 miles from Faarumai Waterfalls. I booked this for a friend of my daughter travelling as a single girl. Ingrid was very helpful, providing a taxi service late in the evening and early next morning from and to the Faa'a International Airport, sending me details of the pick-up car and that all had gone to plan. Excellent communication from the host and my daughter's friend said a good welcome and great acccommodation, albeit a short night due to flight timings.
Taunoa
Located in Taunoa, 1.7 miles from Plage Hokule'a, Tara Tahiti Lodge has accommodations with free bikes, private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Frank is a wonderful host. He went above and beyond to make sure I got in and out with a quick turnaround and a super early morning flight. He even showed up at 4:45am to make sure I got my taxi! The room was great as well. Very clean and perfect for my Tahiti stopover.
Papeete
Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, Fare D'hôtes Tutehau is located in the Farii piti neighborhood. It is 15 minutes' walk from the heart of Papeete. I felt extremely welcomed here! I felt more like I was staying at a good friend’s home rather than a generic hotel. I arrived after all the restaurants were closed and they were kind enough to give me some food even though that was not part of the service. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. I hope I can stay here again next time I’m in Papeete. I would highly recommend this place!

We got off our cruise ship in Papeete. It was a big let down after visiting the other islands. It's dirty, crowded, & expensive . The best thing to do there is to take the ferry to Moorea for the day! We did have a very nice ride around the island of Tahiti with Marama tours, The island is quite beautiful once you get out of Papeete.
We enjoyed the large Papeete market, the waterfront and our tour of the east coast with Unique Tahiti tours
A real neighborhood, good way to see how local Tahitians live. Chinese at Le Feng Shui was a treat.
Market in Papeete was great - bought and cooked local fruits and veggies - like sea grapes! Must get out and take a tour of the island - much more to see than downtown Papeete. Tracey Thomas/Unique Tahiti was great - all day West Coast Tour.
Great to stopover stay when arriving or leaving Tahiti as so close to airport. Taxi fares are rather high as NZ$28.00 for very short ride, but necessary if you have luggage as Faaa is up step steps by foot.
Teahupoo is at the end of the long road from Papeete on Tahiti Iti. Although it takes a litle while to get there, it is quiet, out of the way. You must have a car and traffic out of Papeete maybe be heavy. We are at a couple food trucks along the way and there is a Carrefour supermarket not far in the town of Taravao.
It is a small rundown town with sweet people who are living in fear of the French government. One night and two days is plenty of time to see the town and don't forget to see the Heiva I Tahiti show. The food is very limited and always get sealed bottled water!
I had an amazing time at A Pueu Village. The bungalow is in a large garden. The sea is 5 meters in front of you with all day calm water for swimming and snorkelling. Because it is so far away from the touristy things (restaurants, hotels and shops), there is a sense of retreat. You'd feel like living in the village with real tahiti life around you. Victor, his wife and daughter are very kind and thoughtful. They offered a lot of help to make sure I had a good stay. Many thanks for everything during my stay.
Don't stay in downtown Papeete unless you like all the traffic and city noise. Resorts outside of town offer shuttles to the city if you want to go. Beautiful views all around the island and the Tahitians are very friendly!
This is a typical town without charm, public transportation is efficient , tourist traffic sustains the economy, basic needs are often hard to meet: changing money is a hassle, especially since weekend closure of banks is definitive, public entertainment is always limited, this city is the only entry point to the attractive atolls in Tahiti for the airplane tourists, streets are not clean, vagrants will approach tourists, car rentals are often exhorbitant, local people are friendly, use of English is limited, local food at night stalls is good indeed, freighters will take passengers to outer islands and perimeters,it is possible to negotiate prices for airline tickets with available discount vouchers or identification ( cards can be secured for senior citizens, etc). Treat this city as a necessary intermediate stopover on your way to the outer islands...some of which will disappear soon and forever as climate changes raise water levels...paradise anon!
Papeete
This is a perfect spot for a stay in Papeete! The kitchen allows you to cook your own meals, and there is a great supermarket about two blocks down the street. It is also an easy walk into downtown. There were many thoughtful touches in the apartment that made my stay extra comfortable. The balcony has amazing views of the city and Moorea in the distance! This was an awesome place to stay in to get more of a local or real feel for life in Tahiti.
Faaa
Had such a wonderful end to my stay in French Polynesia at Manaeva Lodge - the hosts were so kind, helping me to hire a car, print off flight passes, offering fruit and juice, and generally helping to make quite a stressful and complicated return so much easier! The accommodation is beautiful, in such a good location and everything you could possibly want. 100% recommend and will definitely stay here again if I return to Tahiti - amazing! :)
Punaauia
Our stay at Te Moana was short but lovely. The studio room with lagoon view was nice and we were on the ground floor so could walk out from our patio to the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a really late flight out of Tahiti after checking out of the hotel and were able to make use of the pool and other amenities until we left. The use of the refresh room before we headed to the airport was good.
The building is brand new, modern minimal design, the rooms are excellent, seems like it’s the one and only in Tahiti. The roof top bar and restaurant are the best and cool spots for both tourists and locals. If you are looking for hippest places to hangout, this is it. Although they are not party of the hotel. Breakfast omelet is excellent!! But still a bit over priced since the buffet is quite limited, $25/head.
Punaauia
This place is a gem! We booked the rooms with a private pool and had such a relaxing time. It is much cooler, being up in the hills. The room design and style made us feel like we were in the Santorini of the South Pacific! Such a wonderful way to decompress; we will certainly be back next time we visit Tahiti. Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at (at a very reasonable price too). Thank you!
Papeete
The Hotel Tahiti Nui is located in the central urban area of Papeete. It is in walking distance to the water front and to a variety of restaurants, shops and the Central Market. Rooms and beds are large and comfortable. The elevator requires inserting one's room key, making the floors secure. The hotel consistently uses an excellent driver named Yoshi on runs to the airport.
lright overall) The enjoyment of the building was slightly impaired by all the construction and roof and gutter repair going on but that had no real impact on my stay. The apartment was very tastefully furnished. It made an immediate good impression, The location was was well placed for access to shops, post office, Papeete and the western coast of Tahiti
Papeete
We got stranded in Tahiti after missing a flight to Raiatea. We booked the Pearl last minute and took a taxi ride over. We checked in at dark and it was pouring rain but the lobby was pleasant and the front desk person was friendly. The room was huge and we could hear the waves but never saw anything because we had to leave out at 5am the next morning.
Papeete
This hotel fit the bill perfectly for what we wanted for our trip. We wanted a hotel that offered a free shuttle that could pick us up and drop off at the airport the next day. The room was clean, staff friendly, and price reasonable. Would highly recommend for those doing a quick one night stop over in Tahiti before continuing on to other islands.
Papeete
This is an exceptional apartment. My husband and I crashed here after an incredibly late flight into Tahiti. Great proximity to the airport, quiet, and wonderful. Newly renovated with beautiful finishings and a rain style shower. The host is very welcoming and even offered us rides to the airport at additional cost, which we appreciated!!
Rooms look over very well appointed gardens. The rooms are large with excellent a/c. Parking is right in front of the room. If you have a car, this is great base to explore Tahiti with supermarket, pharmacy and the centre of Tahiti close by car. Do not expect a beach hotel - small pool (plunge pool) and small beach...
Punaauia
Awesome Place with a lot of Space, a great great view and two lovely hosts we will gonna miss and call our friends. The best experience outside of hotels we ever Had!! When you are on Tahiti you should sleep and stay There. Our hosts even took us to a local music event what we never had experienced without Them
Clean hotel and rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful with our questions upon arrival in Tahiti. Tiki hotel was a nice value for our short 2 night stay when we arrived in French Polynesia before making our way to other islands. The park and beach down the hill were an added bonus.
Papeete
Really central location in Papeete. A great place to stay before travelling to other parts of Tahiti or to other islands. The only hostel in the city with the best price. There is a common area where to sit and you can use the kitchen. The WiFi is good.
Location was great, 5-10min walk from Papeete centre. Quiet area and the hotel has a great coffee/cafe 5mins away. Great free wifi access, air con and bathroom facilities was good. We rate it fair value of what you’d pay in Tahiti.
Excellent hotel with beautiful sunsets over Moorea. Tahiti itself isn't as beautiful as Moorea or Bora Bora, but this hotel is exceptional if you decide to stay a few days on the main island of French Polynesia.
Papeete
The Staff overall at Hotel Tahiti were very friendly, professional and kind throughout the Resort. The Facilities are well maintained and offer the beauty that you imagine from Stateside.
Faaa
Got off plane to Tahiti and was so happy to be able to walk this safe, clean, friendly hotel with excellent wifi.
Fantastic little oasis. Excellent welcome. Owner is so helpful, friendly and...flexible. Definitively recommend a visit to anyone in need of a restful, well located abode whilst in Papeete.
Perfect jungle getaway. Woke up with the birds and got to watch the rain from our balcony. Breathtaking views!
